Chapter 75: Zephyr

"Who wants to follow me?" Kaiju asked.

{That is not how you tame a beast.}

Shut up! Kaiju rolled his eyes.

The other four were not familiar with Kaiju compared to Aqua, so they did not nod their head. Three of them were not even moved, while the remaining was just staring at him curiously. Kaiju smiled at him and walked towards him.

When he halted, the serpent continued to stare at him, so Kaiju took the chance to scrutinize him. Compared to Aqua, the scales of the serpent were light green, brimming with wind elements. Kaiju instantly thought of Griffin and might have thought this serpent would be a best ally for him.

He asked, "What is your name?"

"Number 4."

I should have expected that. Kaiju shook his head and smiled.

"Do you want to follow me?"

"That depends if you are stronger than me."

Kaiju was stunned and then suddenly vanished. He appeared behind Number 4 and was about to grab him, but Number 4 blinked as well, emerging behind his back. Kaiju was taken aback, chuckled, and they continued to attempt grabbing behind their back. Kaiju knew they were testing their mana points’ reserves.

Of course, that was based on the blink skill, but when it comes to agility, Kaiju was faster. He did not even have to exhaust his mana when he saw a chance, went all out, and finally managed to grab Number 4 before he was able to get away.

Number 4 was deeply stunned, he was confident in his agility and blinking skill, after all, as his mana was in the wind element. Who would have thought he was defeated by Kaiju, who seemed to rely on pure strength?

Kaiju had shown the difference between them just by raw strength and Number 4 admitted defeat.

Number 4 said, "I admit defeat, I am willing to follow you. However, if you have the same arrangement with Number–Aqua to me, that person is better be stronger than you."

Kaiju chuckled. "He is. He is even my teacher."

Number 4 was stunned. Since Kaiju confidently claimed it was his teacher, obviously powerful than him, and he seemed to recommend Aqua earlier to someone who could bring out his full potential, Number 4 did not doubt to follow Kaiju’s suggestion anymore.

"Alright, I am willing to be that person’s companion."

"That’s good!" Kaiju was jubilant. However, it quickly dwindled down. WIll Griffin even allow someone to follow him? That man seemed to rather work alone. Kaiju felt conflicted. He shook his head and sighed. We will see. It does not hurt to allow Number 4 to join my ranks anyway.

"You can now name me." Number 4 was not willing to always call him Master like Aqua, so he refrained.

Kaiju stared at him, smiled, and pondered for a while. He then recalled that most of the artifact in the wind element always has Zephyr on it, so he said, "Why not Zephyr?"

"Zephyr..." Zephyr lowered his head, but the radiant gleaming on his light green eyes was difficult to hide. He stared at Kaiju and nodded. "I liked it!"

"That is good." Kaiju nodded.

Kaiju’s eyebrows furrowed, catching the Gacha System slacking. However, he did not mind.

"Show me Zephyr’s status."

Now, he is willing to follow you, so take care of him before he follows your teacher, Griffin, who can bring out, theoretically, his full potential.

Abilities:

Gale Slash: Zephyr uses rapid, whip-like movements of its tail to generate cutting wind blades that slice through enemies from a distance.

Cyclonic Vortex: Creates a localized tornado by rapidly spinning its body in mid-air, pulling in nearby enemies and debris.

Sky Dancer: Zephyr manipulates wind currents to temporarily lift itself off the ground, gliding gracefully through the air.

Tempest Barrage: Channels its mana into a storm of wind blades and cyclones, unleashing a devastating, area-wide assault.

Winds of Erasure: Zephyr summons a massive hurricane, covering a wide radius in destructive winds that tear apart the battlefield.}

Kaiju had a difficult time visualizing Zephyr fighting together with Griffin after reading each of his abilities. In the end, he shrugged. Whatever, I will figure it out later.

Zephyr slithered forward and arrived beside Aqua, following behind Kaiju. Snow glanced at them indifferently while standing at the right shoulder of her master, seemingly showing her status. Kaiju caught her and only rolled his eyes. He focused on the remaining serpent and discerned they were all unwilling to follow him.

Kaiju swept his gaze and randomly said, "Number 3?"

Two serpents turned their heads simultaneously to their left, staring at Number 3, who stared at them–refusing to gaze at Kaiju. The latter did not feel helpless and was about to ask Number 3 when Herforao said, "If you don’t want to follow him, at least, state your reason."

"We don’t want to follow someone who is not stronger than you, Master!" replied Number 3 instantly.

"But if he is stronger than you, will you accept it?"

"T-That’s..." Number 3 gazed at Kaiju and was lost for words.

"You don’t want to fight him?"

"I-I..." Number 3 stared at Kaiju and feeling the oppressiveness of Kaiju’s gaze, he lowered his head and turned to his fellow snake.

Number 3 was still confident he could fight Kaiju, the only catch was that he felt like fighting against Kaiju would be against his conscience. He could not discern the origin of the strange feeling, but it would intensify whenever he stared at Kaiju.

Herforao seemed to sense his thoughts and said to Kaiju alone, "Kaiju, it appears your Beast Tamer’s class affects them. It seems you have awakened a rather high rank class."

Kaiju was stunned.
