Chapter 70: Advanced Trap Creation
{Magic Skill Book: Affinity Magic Skill Book (Rare)
Description: Once used, it enables you to learn a rare grade magic skill with an element you have affinity the most with. Check your mana core which elements stood out the most before using the book.}
Kaiju was stunned. He did not expect such a unique skill book. From what his teacher taught him, treasures rewarded by the Tower, often involving magic skill books, as the highest reward. It enables the user to learn a magic skill book, depending on the book itself. However, the magic skill book in his hand would grant random magic skill books related to the element he had the affinity the most.
He checked his mana core as instructed by the Gacha System and heaved a sigh of relief to discover it was the shadow mana conquering the others. It appeared what he desired was followed by his mana core–that is, if he could support it, like obtaining Shadow Resistance in the process.
Kaiju told Snow and Little Gorilla first he would be using the magic skill book as he badly needed it, to which he received their approval without hesitation. Kaiju smiled at them brightly and used the magic skill book.
{You have activated the magic skill book, Affinity Magic Skill Book, Rare grade.
The Affinity Magic Skill Book is now assessing the affinity of the elements you primarily possessed...}
The Affinity Magic Skill Book radiated various lights, until it eventually settled to a jet-black color. A blinding black light exploded and swallowed Kaiju for a while.
{The Affinity Magic Skill Book is now randomly selecting shadow-related magic skills.
The magic skills have been decided.
Congratulations! You have received a magic skill, Phantom Ambush (Rare grade.)
It has been detected that luck played a part in the random draw by the magic skill book; you have gathered 50 Luck Points.
50 Luck Points has been multiplied ten times.
Congratulations! You have been rewarded with 500 Luck Points. It has been credited to your status, please check.}
Kaiju was beyond delighted to receive the message of the Gacha System about receiving Luck Points. I really do need to be wise in spending my Luck Points. Being broke sucks. Kaiju thought bitterly.
Kaiju then instructed the Gacha System to provide information about the magic skill he received, Phantom Ambush. It seems cool and useful. He was trying to restrain his excitement, knowing he finally received his first magic skill in the shadow element.
{Phantom Ambush (Rare)
Description: Creates illusionary shadow double that mimics your attacks to confuse and overwhelm enemies. It will last for three seconds at most. The shadow double deals 50% of your attack damage.
Mana Cost: 15 mana points.}
Kaiju shivered in excitement. I can create a shadow double of mine? It also deals 50% of my damage? Isn’t this too cool and useful? Kaiju smiled from ear to ear. He hastily activated the skill and asked Snow and Little Gorilla if they could differentiate him and his shadows.
"Well, appearance wise, Master, it is really difficult to know which is the real you. But, I know!" Snow smiled mischievously.
"That is because of our beast and master’s connection, Master," said Little Gorilla.
Snow hissed at him and Little Gorilla awkwardly scratched the back of his head. "I’m sorry, sister, I didn’t know."
"Alright. Enough." The shadow double vanished into his shadow. Kaiju turned to Herforao, asking for his opinion. Herforao said, "Your shadow double lacks emotion. I think you have those skills, too. Use both skills simultaneously and it will confuse the enemy more."
Kaiju’s eyes widened and nodded.
"I see."
Kaiju then turned to the heap of treasures as Little Gorilla disappeared once again, searching for more. Kaiju then stumbled on a scroll and opened it, reading the texts. He was thrilled to discover what it was.
{Ascension Skill Scroll (Rare)
Description: Once used, it enables you to ascend the grade of a common skill to rare.}
It was straight to the point and Kaiju quickly liked it. He hastily searched for the perfect Common grade skill, as he possessed quite a lot of them.
{Shadow Step (Common) Climbing Mastery (Common), Basic Trap Creation (Common), Throwing Mastery (Common Skill), Cooking Skill (Common).}
Kaiju was torn between ascending the skill of Basic Trap Creation and Shadow Step. He wanted to choose Shadow Step badly, for it was related to his shadow mana. However, Basic Trap Creation was perfect to improve their battle formation.
He glanced at Snow and then to Little Gorilla from afar and sighed. It was more suited to choose the Basic Trap Creation. In addition, Little Gorilla might find a similar scroll once he returns.
So, without hesitation, he used the Ascension Skill Scroll to elevate the Basic Trap Creation skill.
{You have used the Ascension Skill Scroll to ascend the grade of the Basic Trap Creation from common to rare.
Processing...}
Kaiju recalled Qwanisha tasked him to improve his Basic Trap Creation but he barely had enough time. After all, he prioritized meditating to increase his mana points. Thankfully, after a month, it quickly reached forty mana points, slowly chasing with Snow and Little Gorilla’s mana points. However, the drawback was gaining mana points through meditation slowed down, too, leaving Kaiju sighed helplessly.
{Your Basic Trap Creation ascended to Rare grade!
