Chapter 54: The Stalker Grey Werewolf
Chapter 54: The Stalker Grey Werewolf
"Has he finally Awakened?" A grey werewolf yawned. With his exceptional hearing as a half-beast, he clearly listened to Qwanisha and Kaiju’s conversation and learned the latter finally became awakened.
However, he was surprised to discover it was a Legendary Class. A Legendary Class means the player was certain to become an Ascendant. Only Black and White Races could obtain such a class. As a result, the grey werewolf envied Kaiju so much he wanted to murder him.
He recalled his mission however, causing him to change his mind. Werewolves discriminate their kind by their color and since grey was the lowest, he was treated almost like a servant in the Hellish Trial. He was helpless, he was not stronger than them. Observing Kaiju’s growth in four months was tedious, even thinking of playing with Kaiju. Yet, the curly white hair posed a threat to him.
It even appeared he was aware of the grey werewolf’s existence. Although frightened by the discovery, he was enraged, too. How dare a human, a low race, threaten me? He thought to himself, forgetting his status. He did not let the madness overtook his mind and fought the curly white hair when he knew he would be defeated. In the end, he just scoffed and convinced himself that the brown, or blue, or even His and Her Highness, black and white werewolves, would be able to conquer the curly white hair.
Qwanisha also gave him an ominous feeling. However, humans in the Hellish Trial were small, most of them were killed by the burg raid. Most of the other races present in the Hellish Trial only perish by their disputes.
The grey werewolf wanted to vent his frustrations to Kaiju, but he restrained himself. If he was watching over Kaiju then he was certain other races were observing, too. There were even cases where they failed to hide themselves from his beast senses and perceived them, but he did not do a thing about it. Unless, he wanted to incite another war among the other races inside the Hellish Trial.
The grey werewolf jumped from the branch of the gargantuan tree and silently walked towards Kaiju. Although Kaiju sat in the lotus position in a shadow, to conceal himself, the grey werewolf could still spot him with his night vision.
"It appeared nothing changed. If he indeed obtained the Legendary Class of a Rogue profession, something related to concealment with shadow elements, why does it appear nothing changed?" The grey werewolf wondered. "Is he lying?"
"There’s no way, right? Why would he lie? Was that woman aware of me and being cautious?" The grey werewolf frowned and growled.
Unaware and distracted, he did not notice Snow’s eyes narrowed, sharpened, staring at him. As he subconsciously turned his attention at her, Snow slid her gaze away and conversed with Little Gorilla normally. The grey werewolf did not notice a single thing as he was then staring inquisitively at Kaiju.
"He hasn’t posed a threat to me yet. Is he really Awakened? Was he lying about awakening a Legendary Class? There’s no way, right? Unless he wanted to be punished by that terrifying woman." The grey werewolf continued to wonder.
Dozens of seconds later, after not leaving his eyes away from Kaiju, he suddenly mumbled. "He’s actually not bad."
He instantly covered his mouth and swept his eyes from left to right, identifying if there was who heard him. Silence ensued for a minute, except his heart was beating vigorously, and he finally sighed in relief. He stared at Kaiju filled with killing intent.
"Why did he make me think that way? Is it because he is a Beastmaster?"
At the same time, as though sensing his killing intent, Snow glared at him. The grey werewolf accidentally met her gaze and for some reason... he was terrified. It appeared there was a massive basilisk glaring at him. He shivered in terror.
"Bloodline Awakening? Does she possess the bloodline of a high-ranking beast? How is that possible?"
For a month he was observing Snow and Little Gorilla, although there were instances they spotted him, they did not do anything aside from staring at him. Now, one of them actually awakened their bloodline and it was from a high-ranking beast at that.
I lowered my head. The grey werewolf thought. He indeed lowered his head for two reasons: respect and fear. It was an immense blow to his pride but he was helpless. He was reminded of how he felt to His and Her Highness. He gritted his teeth in exasperation.
He blamed his weakness. He had to respect Snow since she was a beast. How could she accept to be a Pet of a mere human? He thought, perplexed. He might respect Snow but she would never respect Kaiju.
Sensing the disappearance of Snow’s glare, he turned his head upward slowly and stared at Snow. Snow seemed to be appearing normal, as though nothing happened. He clucked his tongue. I was not dreaming. He thought, shaking his head. Out of wonder, he gazed at Little Gorilla and speculated he might have awakened his bloodline, too.
Little Gorilla seemed to have sensed his gaze and stared right straight to his eyes. Little Gorilla seemed not to falter from the staring contest and the grey werewolf was actually thinking of backing off.
What is happening? The grey werewolf almost burst into tears. He really did not pay mind to Snow and Little Gorilla–a pet of a mere human. They should have been just a common or ordinary beast with limited potential, but now that he had a closer look, after not observing them closely and lazing around, he did not know whether to laugh and cry.
The grey werewolf reluctantly lowered his gaze. I admit. I lost. He awakened his bloodline, too. The grey werewolf thought and stared at Kaiju. How could someone be so lucky?
He finally realized. Snow and Little Gorilla did not emit any dangerous aura to him before, but just like beasts, they would not terrorize other beasts if they were not provoked. He did not provoke Snow and Little Gorilla before, except earlier he released immense killing intent to their master–they obviously sensed it.
I have to report this to His Highness and Her Highness. The grey werewolf made up his mind and hastily left.
Before Kaiju left his vision, he took a last glance and grinned, recalling His Highness’ response after knowing Kaiju was a Beastmaster.
’He must die!’
