Chapter 49: Dagger Mastery Training

Chapter 49: Dagger Mastery Training

"What rank are the Crimson Knights?" Kaiju asked. Finally, his stamina was beginning to recover but only suffice to ask without breathing heavily. He still lay on the floor together with Snow, who slowly slithered towards his back, and Little Gorilla, who stayed dead, recuperating.

Qwanisha replied, "Overlord Rank. Furthermore, we assume that there are more than ten of them."

"More than ten?!" Kaiju gasped.

Qwanisha sighed. "Just like I said, the burg is massive. Even if we rush to enter the heart of the burg, it will take us half a day to do so. The fact that we encountered one showed that they are guarding the heart in every part. Since the heart is enormous too, assuming that in every part there must be a Crimson Knight guarding, there must be ten or more of them."

"How can we even fight against an Overlord?!" Kaiju was in disbelief.

After all, Overlord Rank beasts or monsters were comparable to Pseudo Rank awakeners. Furthermore, the Overlord rank beast was known for being the leader of a group. Kaiju asked, "How are they?"

He was really lost what to inquire.

Qwanisha smiled, smacking Kaiju’s head. "Did you forget something? Our task is to snatch the treasures and offer them to the other races. We won’t fight against the Crimson Knights."

Kaiju was stunned and then giggled awkwardly. He quickly forgot after knowing the rank of the Crimson Knights.

"But to answer your question, they don’t have intelligence." Qwanisha shook her head. "They are strong but mindless creatures. They appear to be puppets, like thralls, moving in instinct and with purpose–perhaps, to protect their master in slumber."

Kaiju nodded. "So, we will only have to deal with Bloodbound, then."

Qwanisha just stared at him. Kaiju was lost in thought as Qwanisha continued, "Their weapons are too ordinary, they rely on the Overlord’s power, known as possessing mana aura, coating their weapon with mana aura to obliterate us."

Kaiju furrowed his eyebrows, believing there was no point in learning about the Crimson Knights, but since Qwanisha still bothered to explain, he noted down.

"Alright, since you have learned about the existence inside the burg, let’s continue the training."

Kaiju was stunned. He barely had any rest yet, he could hardly move his limbs. However, Qwanisha really thought about continuing training. If Kaiju was not wrong, since his pets were now sleeping, the next training would be individual, to raise his dagger mastery. Kaiju growled.

"Stop complaining." Qwanisha snorted and stood up. "Buy a stamina potion in the store."

Kaiju was stunned. He forgot there was such a thing in the auxiliary section in the Rare category and above, only costing a hundred potion, if it is Rare grade. He did not hesitate to buy the stamina recovery potion and drank it.

{Stamina Recovery Potion (Rare)

Description: A glowing orange potion brewed from enchanted herbs and beast essence. This potion restores stamina rapidly, allowing the user to fight or run for extended periods. It is favored by warriors and adventurers who engage in prolonged battles or strenuous activities.

Effects:

Restores 75% of stamina over 10 seconds.

Removes minor exhaustion effects.

Provides a temporary 10% boost to stamina regeneration for 30 minutes.}

Kaiju was shocked by the effects, thinking it only restores stamina to a certain degree. It could actually also remove debuffs - minor exhaustion effects - and even provide a temporary boost of stamina regeneration for thirty minutes. Suddenly, he grasped something and his face turned ashen.

Qwanisha caught his reaction and grinned. "That’s right, Kaiju. I know you missed important things such as this. Don’t worry, at worst, your mental health will only receive consequences. Well, you like to be tormented, right? You are greedy for passive resistance skills, right?"

Kaiju’s heart raced. His face turned grave even more, cursing under his breath.

"Do I hear something?" Qwanisha teased.

Kaiju shook his head, finally finding the energy to move his limbs so he slowly placed Snow and Little Gorilla on the plain floor. He said, "I was only saying if there was such a thing of mental something resistance."

"There is." Qwanisha appeared to be in disbelief. "There should be. I mean, everything can be a passive resistance. Well, do you want to find out?"

Kaiju growled. He understood Qwanisha was only teasing him and he was helpless. He shook his head and sighed, smiling in the end.

"Let’s find out, then."

Qwanisha’s eyes sparkled and nodded frantically. Suddenly, she took out two common grade crossbows and began to fire Kaiju with endless arrows. Kaiju was ready to begin with, parrying the arrows, but some still managed to wound him. He relied on his battlegarb to increase the probability of evading the arrows but they appeared without end. Kaiju had no choice but to rely on a dagger to block it.

Slowly, his body was filled with wounds, and each time Kaiju was filled with frustrations.

’I feel like there is something missing.’ Kaiju thought to himself, disliking the feeling that crept him. However, he was not given enough time to think straight, and thus could only endure the feeling bitterly. ’There is really something missing.’

To keep up with the relentless swift assault of Qwanisha’s arrows, Kaiju slowly pulled his other hand, only using a single hand to swing the dagger. He recalled doing the same thing in the later month of training with Griffin. Griffin seemed to be hinting at something, but since Kaiju failed to figure it out, Griffin did not bother explaining to him.

Now, it appeared again, and Kaiju slowly realized what was missing.

’I need another dagger.’

"Kaiju, why won’t you try to fight with dual daggers?"

"I’m comfortable with one for now. Anyway, are you not using one, too?"

"Yes, but it’s rapier. It’s for thrusting."

"Thrusting? But you always slash in our training though. You rarely thrust."

"You want me to do it?"

"Ah, no. I’ll die."

"They say, unsheathe your sword if you want to kill. But for me, once I thrust my sword, I won’t stop until they die. Kaiju, you don’t deserve my thrust."

"I thought you were about to say, "You don’t deserve to die.""

"So, have you thought it through? Doing dual daggers? I believe daggers are meant to be paired. Just having one dagger makes it seem like your other hand is useless."

"But I’m using two of my hands for the dagger, though."

"That’s because you are still inexperienced. Don’t rely too much on the Tower System’s evaluation. Just because you have mastery doesn’t mean you have fully understood it–even on that certain level of mastery. What I am meaning to say is you need to explore more, especially about your skills, learn it by experience, not by some God’s blessings."

"Do you believe on Faith’s God?"

"That was a figure of speech."

"Alright. I’ll understand. I’ll listen to your suggestions. I’ll think about it."

’I need a dagger.’ Kaiju gritted his teeth. He wanted to buy one from the store but Qwanisha did not seem to let her give some time.

Kaiju activated the Emotionless skill to prevent his irritated emotion from obstructing his ability to think clearly. Finally, he could parry the arrows, though still receiving wounds, with a clear mind. He could now think of a solution.

’Gacha System, can you buy a common grade dagger from the store? Just any will do and quickly summon it.’

{Understood. Searching for the Common grade dagger...}

Kaiju heaved a sigh of relief, continuing to parry Qwanisha’s endless arrows.
