Chapter 115: Nocturne Veil
Chapter 115: Nocturne Veil
Little Gorilla soon foraged on the treasure. He found it in an isolated corner not far from the location of two Crimson Knights. From its location, it seemed it was deliberately thrown. Little Gorilla was not surprised. He even speculated it should be because the Crimson Knights and the Bloodbound could barely carry it.
With his mana concentration, he was able to lift it without problem. His light mana could barely grasp the extreme concentration of shadow mana, enveloping the artifact. It was a cloak, dark and sinister. Even so, Little Gorilla was glad to discover it was an elemental mana suitable for his Master.
He enthusiastically ran towards his Master, as the latter’s raven-black eyes gleamed in excitement. After all, the moment Kaiju’s eyes landed on the cloak, he instantly fell in love with it.
’Gacha System, can I wear it?’
{Hmmm... I have just checked. It seems your mana core can handle it. With the thick concentration of mana exuded by the artifact, it can even increase your mana recovery, as it already did in the Ring of the Eternal Night.
My suggestion would be... you should be satisfied with two Epic grade artifacts for now, Kaiju. If there are three or more, your body might not be able to handle it.}
Kaiju was excited. Suddenly, he was startled when a noise echoed on his finger. He hastily checked what it was and discovered a ring was destroyed and snapped into pieces. It was a common grade artifact–Copper Ring of Endurance.
{As expected, your common grade artifact could not handle the aura of the Epic grade artifact. It is within expectations, Kaiju. Don’t be disheartened.}
’I am not.’ Kaiju shook his head. ’I guess, I should have expected this, as well. It doesn’t matter anyway. Common grade artifacts at this point could barely support me.’
{You’re right.}
Kaiju then returned his focus to the cloak on Little Gorilla’s hands. As soon as the latter arrived in front of him and handed the dark cloak towards him, he did not hesitate to analyze it once it was within his grasp.
{Nocturne Veil (Epic Rank)
Description:One of the treasures necessary for Vladislaus’ ascension to become a Vampire King. Forged in the twilight between the Tower and the Abyss, the Nocturne Veil is a dark, flowing cloak that feels as though it is made of liquid shadow. Its surface shimmers with an ethereal sheen under moonlight, revealing subtle constellations that shift with the wearer’s movements. The Veil is said to grant its wielder unparalleled mastery over shadows and the ability to traverse unseen paths, embodying the essence of the night itself. It is often sought by those who walk the line between light and dark–vampires alike, tempting even the most noble souls with its forbidden allure.
Effects:
Abyssal Shroud: The Nocturne Veil cloaks the wearer in a shadow aura, making them harder to detect. Reduces the detection range of enemies by 50%, and grants immunity to vision-based tracking abilities. Attacks aimed at the wearer have a 20% chance to miss completely, as the shadows blur their outline.
Night Sovereign’s Authority: Increases the wearer’s damage with dark and shadow-based abilities by 30%. The Veil resonates with the night, granting the wearer regeneration of 1% mana every second when in low-light or shadowed environments. In the presence of a full moon, this regeneration increases to 2%.
Shadowstep (Active – Cooldown: 1 minute): Allows the wearer to instantaneously teleport to any location within 15 meters, as long as there is a shadow present. After teleporting, the wearer becomes invisible for 5 seconds or until they attack. Grants a 30% movement speed boost for 5 seconds after reappearing.
Eclipse Ward (Active – Cooldown: 3 minutes): Summons a dome of shadowy mist in a 20-meter radius for 15 seconds. Inside the dome, the wearer and allies gain stealth and increased movement speed. Enemies within the dome experience reduced visibility and have their accuracy lowered by 25%. The dome blocks magical scrying and prevents long-range targeting from outside the area.
Durability: 500/500}
Compared to the Ring of the Eternal Night, the Nocturne Veil was more into stealth, and, as always, increasing his abilities exponentially.
At the same time, Kaiju wondered why the treasures of Vladislaus were more into shadows instead of blood. He then realized that vampires were similar to Snow, possessing two elemental affinity. Of course, it still depended on the hierarchy. Since Vladislaus was a baron, it was already surprising he even had the elemental affinity of shadow, showcasing his potential to soar through the hierarchy of the vampire race.
Kaiju was glad he found the treasures with the affinity with the shadow element instead of the blood, as it would be utterly useless to him.
Kaiju then returned his focus to the effects of the Nocturne Veil and kept it in mind, especially the Shadow Step. He already had blink and Umbral Step, causing him to think it would be unnecessary. However, when he read the effects, he even thought of how lowly the other two were.
To teleport in 15 meters? Becomes invincible for five seconds? Grants a movement speed boost? Isn’t that overpowered?!
Kaiju tried to cool down his trembling body. He distracted himself through rumination. What does it mean to be invincible? Can I even escape the eyes of Vladislaus? I think he will be at Mythic Rank... Or worst, Arcane!
His teacher did not disclose information above Awakened rank. After all, it was already expected that once they became Awakened, they could take another special class, even taught by the Ranker themselves. Of course, being taught by the Pseudo-Rank was already beneficial for them.
Hence, Kaiju did not have information about them at all, not even Qwanisha and others.
Of course, he knew the hierarchy set by the Tower: Feral, Savage, Corrupted, Overlord, Mythic, Arcane, Ancient, Abyssal, and Primordial, this was the currently known hierarchy known by the players. The hierarchy worked for all races–except they created their own, too, often the Tower themselves for specificness for their race.
Primordial being Ascendant, and since the latter has obviously not reached the peak of the Tower yet, then there was more that the Tower had not disclosed. The Tower obviously wanted to retain its mysteriousness.
