Chapter 111: Tower’s Announcement

Chapter 111: Tower’s Announcement

Razael clasped his flaming sword tightly, staring at the severed head of the massive snake, falling to the ground. He perceived no signs of life and it should have been worthy of celebration, but sorrow was painted on his face. He continued to flap his wings, levitating in the sky, while suddenly, the flame roaring on his sword began to dwindle.

"Kafziel..." He stared at the flaming sword in anguish.

His sword hummed in response, trying to intensify its flame as a form of communication with Razael. Razael went quiet, receiving the farewell of Kafziel, failing to restrain from weeping. Soon, the flames faded alongside the sharp part of the sword. The hilt began to turn into ashes as well, causing him to grasp dust.

Razael closed his eyes, recalling his journey with Kafziel, and took a deep breath, exhaling for a long time. His Bloodline Awakening deactivated, feeling weary all of a sudden. The momentum of his wings flapping decreased but Razael held on.

He then gripped the dust and condensed his light mana on his palm, enveloping the dust, dissipating it. Razael mumbled and said in a gentle tone, while his heart screamed in pain, "Rest in peace, Kafziel. Enjoy your eternal rest on His hand, may you live to the fullest in His paradise."

His heart was in peace, assuring himself that Kafziel would be in heaven now. He opened his eyes and began to descend. However, he suddenly felt his energy was totally sapped, causing him to fail to flap his wings and fall to the ground.

"Sir, Razael!" One of the ophanim bolted towards him, catching Razael just before he collided to the cold ground.

Razael was closing his eyes, not responding, but one of the ophanim perceived that Razael was meditating to replenish his mana points. He could not be disturbed. Hence, as the ophanim helped Razael sit in a lotus position, he stood beside him, observing.

Suddenly, his eyes lit up. Beast core of an Overlord rank!

The value of any core depended on the rank of the owner. The beast core below corrupted rank was pretty much useless. Beast core on the corrupted rank and above contained the purest form of mana–it has been filtered. However, the ophanim realized something...

He smacked his face lightly. The beast core of that massive serpent has an element incompatible for us!

Indeed, unless he wanted to poison Razael, he would have to find another beast core that has a light element as a primary source of elemental mana. He shook his head and finally retrieved the remaining low-grade mana potion on his inventory.

The low-grade mana potion cost a lot in the store, so his heart ached when he decided to give it to Razael. However, as long as he was able to recover his fellow angels, he swallowed the stinginess on his throat.

"Don’t worry. I have one and have already consumed it," said Razael, startling him from his stupor.

He did not notice Razael had already drank a mana potion as he fell into deep contemplation. He stared at Razael and noticed he was still closing his eyes, meditating, digesting the mana potion. He could only remain quiet.

Razael broke the silence, asking, "How are the others?"

The ophanim replied, "They are fine. Although they’ve received minor injuries, even Munkar and Hadriel had to sacrifice their shields to protect us, they should be able to have a full recovery by next week, at least."

Razael nodded. It was normal that they needed a week to recover, as he even needed it. After all, the repercussions of activating the Bloodline Awakening would even temporarily decrease his attributes, needing to recuperate for some time to recover them.

The Stamina Recovery potion might have solved the problem, but he wanted to save it in the future. It was not like the stamina recovery potion would be able to instantly solve it.

Razael said, "That’s good. Tell them to gather after an hour."

The ophanim nodded solemnly. He knew why Razael was in a rush. A massive-scale battle earlier would certainly have alarmed the other higher races. If they spotted their current state, they might even take the chance to attack them. Just thinking of battling against them while they just survived from a deadly battle made the ophanim shudder.

Just as silence ensued, another familiar yet rarely echoed voice of the Tower reverberated once again. Their heart skipped a beat, feeling something was wrong.

{It has been detected that the human race is not complying with the mission requirements. The Tower will not restrict them, welcoming them to elevate the difficulty of their Trial.

After they have collected the treasures, they are now attempting to challenge Vladislaus, who was about to awaken. Their intentions alter the mission of the other races.

Announcement! Due to the unexpected course of events, the Tower has decided to alter the mission of the other race.}

The Tower was silent for a second before it continued.

{Mission: Due to the sudden shocking movements of the human races, your mission is either to cooperate or compete with them to defeat Vladislaus.

The rewards will depend on your contribution in killing Vladislaus.}

Razael and the ophanim were greatly surprised. The Tower’s announcement was utterly unexpected and beyond their expectations.

Razael abruptly opened his eyes, trying to process what he had just heard, and glanced at the ophanim.

The ophanim was pretty and attractive, but Razael was not dazzled by her appearance, as he asked, "Did you hear that, Micah?"

Micah glanced at Razael in a daze, nodding sub-consciously. She mumbled, "Unbelievable. Where did they get the guts to do it? Also, given by the announcement of the Tower, it appeared they even defeated the Crimson Knight... but, Crimson Knight and Vladislaus are entirely different beings."

Razael chuckled and nodded. "You are right. However, knowing about humans, they are not idiots. Unless they have the confidence to do it... but..." Razael was lost for words.

"Have you contacted Faith?"

Micah shook her head. "After we communicated with her a year ago, we placed our full attention to the nephilim."

Razael nodded. "It appears Faith has been placed in a difficult position. She promised us she would give the treasure to us, but since she had to cooperate with her fellow humans..."

Micah nodded and felt pity for Faith.

Micah stared at him solemnly and asked, "What should we do?"

Razael chuckled. "What else? Cooperate with them."

"Are you sure? What if she won’t?"

"Faith’s faith towards God is undeniable. I’ll bet my wings if she has betrayed her faith. I know the moment I saw her, she would rather die than lose her faith."

Micah envied Faith somewhat after hearing Razael’s excellent impression of the latter. However, she would not deny Razael’s claim, even she felt the same. Furthermore, the fact Razael bet his wings conveyed he placed Faith on a high regard.

"If that is what you think, then we’ll cooperate with her. If the other humans don’t want to, we–"

"Let us decide in the future." Razael intervened. "For now, we must heed to the burg as soon as possible."

Micah nodded.

They might not have time to recuperate for a week...

***

It was not the only angel race who were deeply shaken by the announcement of the Tower.

The remaining witch cursed at the shamelessness of the human race and called the Warlock. It was the only remaining warlock who survived in the Hellish Trial and became her eternal servant.

The Warlock was as massive as Thrall, but they were not grotesque, their face was not small, their body framework was not uneven... they were bulky, the veins enveloped their body like a roots in the ground, they have fierce expression but their eyes were not bloody, even concealing the calmness behind the ocean pupils.

It sprinted towards the witch, the ground trembled as a result, and suddenly jumped, instantly covering hundreds of meters in an instant. It knelt in front of the witch, lowering his head, and the witch leapt towards his broad shoulder, standing on it with her long heels.

The witch wore a black and white dress, with designs of rose and thorns, slithering every part. When the purple moonlight revealed her face... compared to the old, malformed face witch Kaiju encountered, she was actually pretty. Her face was even milky white. She possessed a charm that would stun others.

It would not be surprising if she had used her charm on the Warlock to make him her servant.

The Warlock stood up and ran towards the direction where the witch pointed her black staff...

...

The black werewolf swiped his claws at the colossal trunk of the gargantuan tree with a twisted expression. He huffed, trying to control his rage. Suddenly, the colossal trunk had finally realized it was cut and divided into three sections, slowly detaching each other. The gargantuan tree’s crown shook, and slowly it fell sideways.

Once it collided to the ground, a wave of thundering noise reverberated, accompanied by the gust of wind, smacking towards the black and white werewolf.

The white werewolf stared at the black werewolf with a concerned expression on her face. She remained quiet, however, watching her lover venting his expressions.

"HOW DARE THEY?!" He shouted.

He turned to his lover and tried to calm himself. Once he felt his head cooled down somewhat, he roared, calling for his packs.

However, minutes passed, and only two blue werewolves, one brown werewolves, and one grey werewolves appeared.

His breathing quickened and his eyes turned bloodshot. He was barely restraining his anger

"WHERE ARE THE REST?!"

The werewolves were shaken. The black werewolf’s voice was so sharp they almost felt their ear drums destroyed. They shuddered in fear.

One of the blue werewolves managed to gather courage to reply, "Fynn led them to observe the human race. I don’t know about Blake."

Fynn, the blue werewolf who died in the hands of Griffin, led the four brown werewolves and two grey werewolves to observe the human race.

"So, Flint died?" The black werewolf turned around and swiped his claws at another gargantuan tree. The white werewolf stood by her side, watching helplessly.

"USELESS!!!"

...

In another place, the occurrence was pretty similar in the Infernal race. After all, they lost the same amount of their kin to the human race. The black infernal and the white infernal, both were boys, were arguing. In the end, they compromised and decided to take out their anger on the human race in the burg.

They did not hesitate to rush towards the burg. Although they were confident that the human race must have been bluffing about trying to kill Vladislaus, the Tower already confirmed that absurd idea.

They did not have a concrete plan but they knew that the moment they saw the human race, they would instantly kill them.

The werewolves and the other higher race, except the angel race, had the similar intention.

The storm brewing in the burg has begun to form...
