Chapter 110: Flaming Sword of Retribution
Chapter 110: Flaming Sword of Retribution
Herforao smirked, finally able to get rid of the annoying group. He then turned his head at Razael, who was staring at him with a face contorting to anger. "How dare you! I won’t forgive you! You will be punished!" He was saying something along those lines and honestly, Herforao was already growing tired of hearing it.
Hence, another round began. Obviously, Razael was at a disadvantage. Due to the lack of buffs supported by the choir, his speed decreased and even his attack could only scratch at the scales of Herforao. Herforao also began not to restrain himself, shaping the liquid form effortlessly–to cold sharp weapons and bullets, limiting Razael’s movements.
Razael was clearly distracted, peeking at the state of his fellow kin from time to time. Suddenly, his golden eyes flashed. Then, Herforao was startled to feel the sudden outburst of mana in the direction from the other angels.
He turned, though continued to bombard Razael, and narrowed his eyes, staring at the ball of purple liquid, boiling. Bloodline Awakening? They all have it? Damn it. Do they possess the same foreparents, or what? The prerequisite of bloodline awakening was possessing the bloodline of an ancestor, who attained the ancient rank, at least–hierarchy set by the Tower. Herforao could clearly perceive that all the angels under the ball of purple liquid activated their bloodline awakening simultaneously.
Herforao continued to observe the changes happening on the ball of purple liquid while distracting Razael with his precise manipulation of the purple liquid. Even Razael was startled by how easily Herforao managed to entertain him while his attention was on somewhere else. It frustrated him somewhat, but since he had already spent most of his mana points earlier to deliver his strongest, deadly attack, he had to be recovering now while occupying Herforoa.
Who knows? Herforao might have delivered another ball of purple liquid to his fellow angels.
In fact, Herforao could activate the magic skill twice, but, as always, it would cost mana points. In addition, he was entertained on how the current angels in the trial perform. Will it be enough to fight against her? However, he shook his head in pity inwardly.
As he was lost in his reverie, the ball of purple liquid was suddenly pushed away by the blinding golden light. Intricate, ancient symbols enveloping a barrier appeared, seemingly pushing and cleansing the ball of purple liquid. The choir’s voice was not blocked anymore, thundering, as though they were celebrating.
Surprisingly, the shield of the sentinels suddenly disintegrated, but a tangible shield was being held by each one of them, solidifying and expanding, mainly driving the ball of purple liquid away.
Herforao was astonished. The mana radiated by the angels after their bloodline awakening become concentrated, similar to the Luminari. However, compared to the Luminari, the transformation of the angels seemed more apparent in their physical attributes. Their muscles expanded, causing the mana overflowing from their body to explode, assisting in creating a shield that seemed to have surpassed even the stats of a rare grade artifact shield.
In addition, the thick book held by the choir exploded in a blinding light, and its own flipping speed soared. The choir’s voice became even more unpleasant to the ears of Herforao, while in the ears of the other Angel, it cleared their mind and soul, even elevating their attributes.
Herforao did not hesitate anymore to spat at the angel once again, but before he was able to do so, another mana exploded from Razael, who activated his bloodline awakening.
Herforao heard him saying, "Bloodline Awakening: Seraphic Genesis."
Razael’s presence became blinding for Herforao, causing him to squint his eyes just to stare at the transformation of Razael. Razael’s wings sparkled with countless wisp of light, dancing throughout his white six wings. Suddenly, golden chains emerged behind his back.
Two from his left and right were moving according to Razael’s left hand, and he suddenly pushed it towards Herforao. Herforao narrowed his eyes, actually letting the chains to wrap his body, curiously wanting to test its durability. He was in awe. The chains actually even corrupted the poison on his scales, seemingly cleansing it.
He then tried to struggle, but it appeared futile. Razael was staring solemnly at Herforao and brandished his sword upward, and the choir’s voice exploded forth. Extreme golden light enveloped the sword, appearing to even replace the sun. It was more blinding than the bloodline awakening of the Luminari.
"Judgement Strike."
The same magic skill yet appeared to be different than earlier–more lethal and even posed a threat at Herforao. The damage will be much deadlier than before. Herforao assumed. After struggling for a bit, he chuckled and sighed.
He mumbled, "Bloodline Awakening..."
As soon as he heard it, Razael panicked somewhat. He could already perceive the abnormal changes of mana emanating from Herforao. At this point, he would not be able to use blink as it would sever his connection with the chain, so he had to rely on his speed–thankfully, he was faster than before after the bloodline awakening and the augmentation of the awakened bloodline of the choir.
"Ancient Serpent: Chthonian Venomwyrm."
Herforao mumbled it so fast that he might even stutter but did not. Even so, Razael managed to land his deadly attack at Herforao’s face. Herforao indifferently welcomed it, slightly tilting his head sideways, ending the lethal attack to land at his cheeks. Another lacerated wound emerged, spitting red blood in the process.
Razael gloomily retracted the golden chains, perceiving it was failing to corrode the body of Herforao and appearing to be the opposite.
Herforao finally finished his transformation, there were now two large horns manifested on his forehead, and the air coming out of his nose was so toxic it quickly withered the grass and trees who were exposed to it. He glanced at Razael’s back, who was flapping his six wings and the chains were dancing around after they wrapped him.
Herforao opened his mouth wide and another ball of purple liquid manifested, quickly expanding two times the size before. Furthermore, it was more potent that even the surrounding air began to be corrupted, quickly spreading to the vicinity.
Suddenly, myriads of divine arrows bolted towards Herforao, raining towards him. The wound left by Razael quickly closed after he activated his bloodline awakening, but the divine arrows managed to open it once again. Herforao, however, ignored them, focusing on his deadly attack.
Meanwhile, Razael faced Herforao and his face grew solemn. At this moment, he realized the decisive exchange finally arrived, where he or Herforao would die afterward. Razael knew that the ball of purple liquid would be inescapable.
Razael clasped the sword with his two hands and then closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and forcefully controlled the chains to wrap itself around the sword. The chains and the sharp sword become one but at the cost of the rare grade sword. Razael felt his heart ache and a tear already flowed out of his eyelids whenever he lingered his gaze at his sword.
"Slaying that massive serpent is not bad, isn’t it? Kafziel?"
Kafziel, his sword who accompanied him throughout the trial, hummed in response–mixed with excitement, sorrow, anticipation... Razael took a deep breath and tried not to affect himself from meaningless emotion.
Then, he stared at Herforao, who he could not spot the face anymore, as all he saw was a massive, expanding ball of purple liquid. Suddenly, he exclaimed.
"Roar, Kafziel!"
A flame ignited from the sword, enveloping around its body. The flame was no ordinary, blessed by the light of God, which was the highest form of flame. Even corrupted creatures would fear it the most rather than the light mana.
Razael shouted at the top of his lungs. "Magic Skill: Flaming Sword of Retribution!"
It was more like a forbidden skill, or a secret technique–always, activating them would sacrifice something worthy, more common on the artifacts. Furthermore, as long as the artifacts agree and have resonance with the owner, the secret technique could even become a realm breaker attack.
At the same time, the choir’s voice changed and their buffs were now not directed at the sword but at the wings of Razael. They knew that augmenting at the sword would be futile as it had already reached the peak it could obtain. In addition, Razael would likely need the augmentation of speed since he had already exhausted his mana to blink around a ten meters ball of purple liquid in diameter.
Herforao who sensed the sudden change of Razael was taken aback. With his unique eyes, he managed to see through the ball of purple liquid and spotted the flames dancing around Razael’s sword. Flames? Fire? Not an ordinary fire, either. Herforao was shaken. That can cut me in a half!
Suddenly, Herforao was terrified. Despite accepting death, he feared death at the moment, for some reason. That momentary distraction caused him to lose concentration at expanding the ball of purple liquid and subconsciously pushed it towards Razael.
Razael has already finished his preparation, his speed had already been augmented to the peak. Hence, as soon as Herforao released the ball of purple liquid, he flapped his wings and... vanished entirely.
His speed broke the speed of sound. Herforao even lost him for a moment, not until his ball of purple liquid was cut in half. A flame did it, swinging around, creating a half-crescent shape of a moon. Herforao couldn’t help but admire how beautiful the scene was.
Before he knew it... he followed the ball of purple liquid. His head detached from his body. He wasn’t even given a chance to feel the pain as the flame instantly burned the wound. The world turned upside down, and Herforao caught the glimpse of the blue moon.
This is it... He recalled Kaiju’s image and his pets, and smiled. May you succeed. He closed his eyes.
Death isn’t bad at all. Why was I afraid of it? That was Herforao’s last thoughts as Razael arrived above his head and shouted at the top of his lungs, swinging the sword downward, cutting his head vertically.
