From Villain to Virtual Sweetheart: The Fake Heir's Grand Scheme(BL) -
Chapter 71: Chasing Snow
Chapter 71: Chasing Snow
Sitting in the backseat of a military-grade SUV, Leo let out a long sigh and tilted his head back against the seat. He was finally away from that damn hotel. He glanced at the two men up front and finally broke the silence.
"Thanks for getting me."
Behind the wheel, Seth looked at him through the mirror, his hands steady on the steering wheel. "Nah, If I hadn’t come, Mum and Dad would have taken my ear off by nagging! I even dragged your brother-in-law into this. Well, you know how much we look alike. I was afraid those reporters would notice it."
Leo chuckled under his breath and shifted in his seat, stretching out his long legs, and turned his gaze to the man sitting next to Seth.
Major William Grant. With his stiff upright posture and an eternally cold expression, Leo’s brother-in-law looked like he belonged to history books.
Leo lifted a hand lazily and pointed at William."Yeah. I bet even if you wanted to, he wouldn’t have let you out."
Seth smiled and threw a knowing look at his partner.
William didn’t even blink.
Leo studied his older brother’s face, a face somehow even more finely sculpted than his own. His features were so out of this world that they caused trouble for their family ever since Leo could remember. Every day after school, a trail of infatuated girls and even boys would follow Seth to their house, declaring boldly that they would marry him someday. The situation got worse when Seth, with his gentle personality, could not refuse their advances.
Even though the Mckays had three sons, their parents often joked, half in exasperation, that it felt like they were raising daughters instead. All three brothers had been cursed or blessed, with dangerously good looks that attracted attention like honey to bees... Or creeps. They moved houses more times than he could count, trying to escape those crazy pursuers.
When his eldest brother had finally had enough and joined the military, hoping to toughen up his demeanour and escape the madness, everyone thought the situation would calm down.
Well, that backfired. His military uniform only made him more attractive, somehow adding a layer of unattainability that drove people even crazier.
It wasn’t until his brother-in-law, a man full of authority and a frightening vibe, officially claimed him that the obsessive admires finally backed off.
Leo’s second brother, Luca, was luckier. His feisty and antisocial personality was a turn-off for most people.
As for Leo, he too attracted too much attention wherever he went. But unlike his brothers, he found a different kind of escape, acting. Diving into roles, hiding behind characters, and transforming those obsessive admirers into hardcore fans. The entertainment industry had become a kind of armour for him.
Anyway, his parents had stressed so much about their appearances. The funny thing was that his parents were attractive people, but not to this extent. It was more like their gene fusion had turned their kids into walking magnets.
"So what happened yesterday, exactly?" Seth asked, his voice pulling Leo out of his thoughts.
Leo exhaled heavily, running a hand through his hair in frustration. "As you know, my manager once again turned out to be trash. If it weren’t for a stranger stepping in, I would be the one in the news with him..." Leo’s voice trailed off, his expression filled with shame and fear. His hands, resting on his thighs, tightened into fists.
Seth’s reaction was immediate. His foot slammed down on the brake, making the heavy SUV screech to a sudden halt. Leo lurched forward against his seatbelt with a grunt.
There was a roar of blaring horns and angry shouting as cars got around them, drivers leaning out of their windows to hurl insults.
"Hey! Switch with me!" barked William, not missing a beat.
Without protest, Seth hopped out and swapped seats sheepishly.
William took the wheel, his movements precise and controlled, the SUV back in motion within seconds.
"Damn it!" Seth growled, slamming his palm against the dashboard. "I should go find that bastard and beat him up, no, I should tear him apart.... Nah, it is all too soft! Ah! I should cut off his damn weenie!" Seth said, trying hard to sound tough.
Leo couldn’t help it. A laugh burst out of him, filling the car.
"What’s so funny?!" Seth snapped, turning to glare at him.
"Not you. It’s just...He also said the same thing..." Leo said.
"He? Do you mean your saviour? Who was he?" Seth asked, his brow furrowing.
Leo nodded, his expression softening. "Yeah. But the thing is...I don’t know who he is. I was drugged. I couldn’t see straight, couldn’t move properly. I only heard his voice." his voice dropped lower, carrying a tremor he couldn’t quite hide.
"WTF!" Seth exclaimed. "Who did drug you? It was him, that beast, wasn’t it?!"
Leo just gave a slight nod.
"William, turn this thing around! We are going to the police station right now! Screw demerit points or disciplinary actions! I am finding that bastard and killing him myself!"
William, unfazed by Seth’s outburst, kept his eyes on the road, driving steadily. "Your brother doesn’t want that," he said calmly.
"Huh?! What do you mean, he doesn’t want that?? Why?" Seth looked at Leo, incredulous.
"Instead of punishing the guy with brute force, I’d rather you help me to find my saviour."
Seth stared at him like he had grown a second head. "I thought I was supposed to be the softy in the family!"
"I have my own ways of dealing with him. No need to drag you into this mess." Leo said with a tired smile.
For a few seconds, Seth was silent, processing that. Then he exhaled sharply through his nose. "Fine. I’ll help you." he muttered.
"Thank you," Leo said sincerely.
Seth turned his head, his expression more serious now. "Alright, what do we have to work with?!"
"He is young, around twenty. Smaller build than me. Snow White hair. And he is really good at martial arts."
Seth blinked. "That’s it?! Wait! How do you know about his hair if you couldn’t see?!"
"I caught a glimpse just before passing out. And when I came to, even half blind, I could tell... his hair was unmistakable. Like a flash of snow."
"Okay. Why do you need my help? Just look at the CCTV." Seth said matter-of-factly.
"He had wiped out the hallway CCTV when I woke up. That’s why I am not all over the trending news. I was stuck in that room, and he jumped between two balconies while carrying me."
"Oh! So he is an expert! A hacker?! Thief Or special force?!" Seth mused, eyebrows drawing together.
"Neither. He was clumsy." Leo shook his head.
Seth’s mouth dropped open. "Clumsy?! What kind of special agent or thief could be clumsy?"
Leo smiled. "Exactly. That’s weird. He was trying so hard... but he kept bumping into things."
Seth rubbed his face in frustration. "Hmmm, it’s going to be harder than I thought. Well, no worries. We’ll pull CCTV from every corner of that area. And check hotel credit cards and IDs. I am sure we will find your mysterious Snow white in no time."
"I hope so..." Leo murmured, resting his chin on his fist and staring out the window at the passing streets.
"You are searching for him just to thank him?!" William asked suddenly.
Leo was taken aback. He hadn’t thought too deeply about why he exactly wanted to find the young man. Was it just gratitude? Or something else? Was it trust? Fascination? The inexplicable pull toward someone who had seen him at his most vulnerable? Or just want to pay him back?
Leo’s mind buzzed. The image of white hair and a feisty unfamiliar voice filled his head. That calm, unwavering presence when everything else had blurred. It hadn’t been just rescue, it felt like something else... Something grounding. But it made no sense. He didn’t even know the young man. Why did this matter so much to him?
He should have just moved on. Thank the guy and forget. That would be normal. But instead, his thoughts circled back to that stranger constantly.
What was this feeling? Why did he want to know that young man? Wanted to be near him? It seemed it wasn’t just gratitude. And that scared him.
"Umm, I guess..." Leo finally muttered. "If he wasn’t there, I would have been finished."
William hummed low in his throat and nodded once. "Alright. I’ll help too."
Silence fell again. Leo leaned back against his seat, staring blankly at the world outside the window blurring by.
His mind filled once again with thoughts of the young man.
Where was he?
What was he doing now?
