Chapter 59: CEO Cupid and the Cosplay Curse
Micah turned his head stiffly upon hearing the name. His gaze landed on a tall woman striding toward him with the kind of authority that commanded the room. She wore a tailored navy business suit, her stride brisk and heels clicking sharply on the polished floor. Her posture was flawless, and her eyes fixated on him.
Everyone else in the room seemed to freeze, and conversation faltered. Fans who were busy chatting about Leo Mckay halted mid-sentence, heads turning in unison. Even the overly enthusiastic sister Candra stopped mid-laugh, mouth open in stunned silence.
Micah guessed as to who this woman was.
The woman reached him and, without a word, enthusiastically grabbed both his hands.
"It’s really you!" she exclaimed. "Ah..., this new look is so good on you! Seriously, thank you for coming! You’ve made my day!"
Micah blinked. He was getting used to this overwhelming touchy behaviour.
But this time it was a bit different. Shouldn’t she be saving this enthusiasm for Leo?! Not him?!
She beamed. "Oh, sorry! I forgot to introduce myself. I am LioNessQueen. You can call me Big sister like everyone else."
The woman had soft blond hair pulled up into a loose ponytail, with a few strands escaping around her temples, giving her a slightly windswept look. Her green eyes sparkled with genuine warmth, though her facial features were sharp and angular, with high cheekbones and, a defined chin, but somehow, when she smiled, all those edges softened, making her seem younger and more approachable.
Micah managed to find his voice. "Hello..." he said cautiously, withdrawing his hands gently.
Then sister Meg came bouncing up with a knowing grin. "Big sister! I knew you would come running the moment you heard she was here!"
HisMajestyMuffin, the girl with the bobbed hair, who had been observing the whole exchange with a sceptical frown, stepped forward and tilted her head. "Big sister," she said bluntly. "Be honest, you already knew SugerPulmFairy, didn’t you? You called her Asena, is it her real name?"
LioNessQueen, aka big sister, admitted. "Yeah. But we had never met. I am also a fan of SugerPlumFairy’s work."
The word ’fan’ echoed in Micah’s mind like a siren. What work? He screamed internally. He prayed she wasn’t talking about his old cosplay photos as Asena. Those were to be anonymous!
KingRuleOverMe, a girl with glossy wavy hair and dramatic eyeliner, leaned forward with wide eyes. "What? Is she famous?! Is she an actress? Musician? Artist?"
HisMajestyMuffin narrowed her eyes, arms crossed over her chest. "Wait a minute...big sister, are you cheating on our king?!"
Micah’s brain short-circuited. What cheating? What affair?! Please say no, deny it! Did she want him to be buried alive?! These women would surely tear him apart, thinking he had made one of Leo’s core members turn her back on their king!
Time stretched around him like infinity. The fans crowded closer, their eyes wide with suspicion and curiosity.
Big sister suddenly clapped her hands loudly, the sound sharp enough to make several girls flinch. "Enough! Why are you asking so many questions?" she scolded, her voice dipping into a stern, almost teacher-like tone. "You all know we don’t discuss real-life identities in our fan spaces. It’s against our code!"
There was a shuffling sound as the group reluctantly backed off, throwing glances over their shoulders like disappointing puppies being dragged away from a juicy rumour. The circle dispersed, and quiet murmurs filled the room again.
Micah sighed in relief. The tension in his back eased as he reached out for his glass of water.
He took a small sip to cool his dry throat, but as he lowered the glass, he noticed the big sister still staring at him.
"What?" he asked, a little more defensive than he intended.
Her eyes were gleaming, unblinking.
"You are more beautiful than before! Ahh! Can I take a picture with you?! Please? Just one?"
Micah gawked. This woman... she looked nearly 24 years old, around Willow’s age. Her posture, her clothing, her aura, they all screamed business executive. Yet her expression now was that of a teen girl meeting her favourite idol at a mall.
What was wrong with her?
Still, Micah forced a smile and nodded. "Sure..."
He needed to stay on her good side. She had no idea how much power she held in this fan hierarchy, but she clearly wasn’t someone to brush off.
Then the woman immediately squeaked under her breath and scooted closer. She squeezed into the seat beside him and pulled out her phone.
"Say cheese."
They took two or three selfies. Micah smiled politely, keeping his expression soft but neutral.
"Thank you. I won’t bother you anymore..." the big sister said apologetically and walked away, leaving Micah alone.
Micah felt his mind had been shut down. He couldn’t make any sense of this woman’s behaviour.
What was her deal?
He took a sip from his water in a daze.

Meanwhile, the big sister, real name Jacklin, exited the fan meeting with the same brisk authority. Her heels clicked steadily across the polished floor as she headed toward the private elevators. Pulling out a lanyard, no one questioned her presence as she ascended to the tenth floor, a floor off-limits to the general public.
This was where the bidding was held. Men in suits and women in tailored dresses streamed out of the venue, discussing contracts, investors, and multi-millionaire dollar decisions. The room reeked of money and influence.
Jacklin stopped near the exit, craning her neck. Her eyes swept the crowd until they landed on her target.
"There you are!" she called out, a delighted grin spreading across her face. "Little uncle!"
Heads turned.
A tall man in a dark suit, his posture rigid and imposing, turned at the sound of her voice. His blond hair was slicked back, pale blue eyes narrowed slightly as he executed himself from the businessmen around him.
"Jacklin," he said with a faint sigh, walking toward her, "What is it now?"
His tone was helpless but not annoyed. Familiar, indulgent.
"Sorry, I got excited!" Jacklin said with a sheepish shrug. "But You have to come with me!"
"You know I am busy..." he said, already turning back.
She grabbed his wrist. "Nope! Come on. You’ll thank me later."
A gasp echoed in the room.
Before he could protest again, she dragged him toward the elevator.
Behind them, murmurs began.
"Who was that? So courageous to touch the boss?" one man asked in a hushed voice.
"Boss’s niece." another replied. "Don’t talk nonsense outside. Or you know what will happen to you..."
Everyone fell silent after that. No one dared to cross Clyde Du Pont. The man even didn’t spare his own father. Ruthless, intelligent, and untouchable.
But now? He was letting himself be dragged around by his niece like an older brother honouring a child.
Inside the elevator, Jacklin titled her head. "How did the bidding go?"
Clyde replied indifferently. "It went to a company from TAT city."
"What? I thought you wanted it..."
"I did. Then I realised it had problems. I couldn’t outright reject it so I backed off....thought Aidan Wilson might step in... " he frowned. "But the man didn’t even show up."
Jacklin scoffed. "Yeah, I heard he spent the last week threatening everyone not to bid. Despicable! Well, probably karma got him!"
"Enough business. Where are you dragging me?" Clyde said wearily.
Jacklin glanced at her uncle. At twenty-eight, Clyde Du Pont was already the head of their powerful family, a product of old-school upbringing and life so orderly it could put spreadsheets to shame. He’d practically raised her and her cousin, stepping into the role of guardian with quiet efficiency. But in all those years, not once had she seen him show even a flicker of interest in romance. His life was a clean, straight line.
Until that moment...
"You’ll see!" she said mysteriously.
Clyde shook his head.
The elevator door slid open, and they got off. Jacklin hid behind a pillar and pointed to a side.
"Look who I found?!"
Clyde’s eyes followed her gesture and landed on a girl with snow-white hair, sitting quietly in a sea of fans. Wasn’t she the one who pissed off Adian Wilson?
His gaze lingered for a moment too long before he turned around.
"So?"
"What so? She is Asena! Remember the cosplay event I hosted in one of our venues? You saw her, Asena, a she-wolf character. You were so mesmerised that you couldn’t take your eyes off her for a long time. That’s her!" Jacklin said, staring at her uncle’s expression.
Clyde paused. Then he patted his niece’s head.
"You are imagining things. When was I mesmerised?! It probably was Dean."
Jacklin rolled her eyes.
"Oh, sure. Say what you want! I know you liked her. For your information, she is an adult. You can go for it."
Clyde sighed and pushed his niece forward.
"Go back to your fan meeting... I honestly don’t get what you all see in that Leo McKay..."
Jacklin just laughed. "Oh, I smell a bit of vinegar... are you jealous Asena is a fan of Leo?"
Clyde shook his head and turned around, leaving her behind.
His soft expression from earlier vanished, replaced by the icy calm that made him famous.
Jacklin watched his retreating back with a sigh. "Why are you this stubborn?"
