Chapter 7: Teacher Rong Shuang, come have dinner with me and Dad! Jiang Feng’s forgotten past, with a hefty income!
“It’s settled then! When Dad comes to pick me up, we’ll go together!” Jiang Youyou stretched out her little hand, wanting to pinky promise with Rong Shuang.
Rong Shuang smiled softly and hooked her finger with the child’s. “Alright, go wash your hands. It’s time for fruit.”
“Okay.”
Jiang Youyou turned away, her adorable little face breaking into a triumphant expression.
Soon, all the children sat in neat rows, eating fruit while listening to Rong Shuang tell a story.
Today’s story was Prehistoric Dinosaurs.
Rong Shuang’s voice was soothing, and the children listened intently.
By 11 a.m., the lead teacher took over, teaching the kids how to count.
Meanwhile, Rong Shuang grabbed a mask and her phone and headed to the dining area to set the tables.
After arranging the chairs, she sent a message to her roommate, Tang Hemei: “I’ll be back late tonight, so I won’t be eating with you.”
“Huh? Something came up?” Tang Hemei replied instantly.
Rong Shuang: “Yeah, I’m going out for dinner.”
Tang Hemei’s interest immediately piqued. “With who?! You don’t have friends here—who’d invite you out?”
Both she and Rong Shuang had run away from home to escape their families’ expectations.
Now, Tang Hemei worked as a gaming content creator online, while Rong Shuang had become a kindergarten teacher.
Neither of them had any close friends in the area.
Rong Shuang: “With a student and her parent.”
Tang Hemei: “Wow, you never eat with students’ families! Wait… is it that guy you like?!”
Excitement flashed across Tang Hemei’s face.
Rong Shuang’s cheeks flushed slightly. “You talk too much! Just order your takeout and don’t worry about me.”
Tang Hemei: “So it IS him! Shuang’er, think this through! No matter how great he is, he’s married! You wanna be the side chick?!”
Tang Hemei: “I support you chasing love, but being the ‘other woman’ is beneath you—you’re the Rong family’s first heir!”
Rong Shuang replied: “He’s divorced.”
Tang Hemei: “Holy shit! Seriously?! And you actually waited for this?!”
Rong Shuang: “Ugh, don’t make it sound like I was hoping for it.”
Tang Hemei: “Still, isn’t this bad? Divorced, with a kid—you’d be a stepmom!”
Tang Hemei: “Was your middle school crush really that strong?!”
Back in middle school, Rong Shuang and Jiang Feng had been classmates for four months.
But Jiang Feng barely remembered.
Rong Shuang replied: “Stop overthinking it. I’ve got work to do.”
Putting down her phone, she felt a strange mix of emotions—anticipation for the evening.
“What if he rejects me…?”
Thinking about how Jiang Feng always kept his distance, she grew nervous.
Meanwhile, business at Jiang Feng’s shop was picking up.
He had prepared 300 beef buns, 300 pork buns, and 300 vegetarian buns in advance, along with enough ingredients for another 600.
Even with the system’s help, his efficiency was maxed out.
But after working nonstop all morning, his stamina had hit its limit.
His hands ached from exhaustion.
This was all he could manage.
Just then, a group of high school girls rushed in.
“This is the place!”
“You guys have to try these buns—they’re amazing!”
“Are they really that good?”
“Yes! Why else would we take a cab here?!”
“I don’t know about the buns, but the owner is hot!”
“Wow, I didn’t get a good look this morning—he’s so handsome!”
Chattering excitedly, the girls approached the counter.
*“Boss, we’ll take 10 beef, 10 leek-and-egg, and 10 fennel-pork buns.”*
“Got it. For here or to go?”
“We’ll eat here.”
“Alright.”
Jiang Feng served them their order.
The girls’ eyes were practically glued to his face.
“Enjoy your meal. I’ll grab your drinks.”
The girl who had led them there went to the fridge and took out six colas.
Jiang Feng had stocked up earlier—the fridge cost him 1,700 yuan, and the drinks (1,200 bottles in 50 cases) came to 2,600 yuan.
Each bottle sold for 3 to 5 yuan, netting him about 1.2 yuan in profit per drink.
After scanning the payment code, the girl returned to her seat—only to find her friends had already eaten 10 buns!
“You guys are terrible!”
“I get drinks, and you try to starve me?!”
“These are SO good!”
“Wow, Class Prez, you really know how to pick a spot—I’ve never had buns this delicious!”
“The beef ones are insane!”
The girl put down the drinks and grabbed a bun, taking a big bite.
The buns were so good they forgot to even glance at Jiang Feng.
Who cared about a handsome face when the food was this incredible?
As they ate, a few real estate agents walked in.
*“Boss, 10 pork-and-scallion, 10 carrot-and-egg, and 15 fennel-pork buns. Make it quick.”*
“Coming right up.”
This time, Jiang Feng was prepared. He plated the steamed buns and brought them over.
The agents had been deep in conversation, but after one bite, they fell silent—too busy devouring the food.
Just as they started eating, seven elderly customers entered.
“Young man, is this the place Old Sun’s group was raving about?”
*“We’ll take 7 carrot-and-egg and 7 leek-and-egg buns.”*
Jiang Feng nodded politely. “Of course. Please take a seat—help yourselves to hot water.”
“Thanks.”
He served the buns, and the elderly customers dug in.
Less than two minutes later, one of the men came back.
*“Give us another 10 beef and 20 leek-and-egg buns.”*
They had only meant to try a few, but one bite was all it took—they couldn’t stop!
“You got it.”
By 12:30 p.m., Jiang Feng had sold out completely.
Even with his massive preparation, demand still outstripped supply!
After closing, a few more customers showed up.
“Any buns left?”
“Sorry, we’re sold out for lunch. Please come back in the evening.”
“Seriously? Business is that good? Can’t you make more?”
Jiang Feng declined politely. “We’re out of ingredients. My apologies.”
“Fine. Save some for us tonight.”
Most were locals—Jiang Feng’s buns were gaining a reputation!
After turning away a few more groups, he finally shut the shop door and sat down to rest.
Exhausted but exhilarated, he checked the numbers.
Today’s lunch revenue: 4,662 yuan!
His system points had also increased by 4,662, bringing him close to the 10,000-point threshold for a prize draw.
And his dwindling savings? Up by over 6,000 yuan in just half a day!
