Chapter 999: Heavenly Hall and Earthly Hall (Part 2)
"Even if they do, they’ll have to keep quiet. Otherwise, they’ll be suspected," Kenny Lin said domineeringly.
A few people frowned uncomfortably.
"I have no objections. Whether the leak came from a friend or foe isn’t clear, but I’d rather treat them as an enemy than risk being stabbed in the back," Yunse Qiao was the first to voice his agreement.
At this stage, they had come too far, and since the Immortal Spring was bound to open eventually, they could simply wait.
"I don’t have objections either," Dayeon Xinyue was the second to speak.
"I have a question," Wonji Hong suddenly raised his hand. "How can we be sure Jinwoo Zhang isn’t the one who leaked the information?"
"The likelihood of him being the informant is lower than anyone else here. If their goal is to deal with Green Lotus Sect and Eternal One Sect, this would have been the perfect opportunity—at least to eliminate Eternal One Sect entirely," Kenny Lin replied.
"It could also be reverse psychology, considering that Mino Pei doesn’t get along with him," Wonji Hong countered.
"I’ll go," Dayeon Xinyue volunteered, stepping forward.
Wonji Hong frowned. "If the geniuses of Green Lotus Sect and Eternal One Sect vanish, then..."
"Let her go. She’s indeed the best candidate," Jirandal Tang interrupted.
Seeing that the others weren’t concerned, Wonji Hong kept quiet. After all, it wouldn’t be Nine Cauldron’s interests that would suffer.
"Junior Sister Xinyue, I’ll trouble you with this. If you don’t return within half an hour, we’ll come looking for you."
Dayeon Xinyue nodded. "Understood. I’ll head there now."
"Be careful," someone added.
Dayeon Xinyue returned in less than 30 minutes.
"How did it go?" everyone asked as they approached her.
"I told them. Whether they believe me or not is up to them. I’ve done my best," Dayeon Xinyue replied succinctly.
"Did no one oppose you?"
"There were objections. Disciples from the Demonic Night Sect and Artifact Refining Valley want to go in. They believe that divine artifacts and techniques are inside and want to search for them."
"If they go in before us and find the divine artifacts and techniques, won’t we be left with nothing?" Wonji Hong immediately remarked.
"Exactly. I think there’s an extremely high chance that the divine artifacts and techniques are inside. The wandering spirits aren’t coming out because they’re certain we won’t abandon those treasures," someone added.
"Just as we’re sure they want the tokens we’re carrying, they’re equally sure we want the divine artifacts and techniques," Jiae Yao agreed.
Divine artifacts and techniques were temptations none of them could resist.
"So, knowing it’s a trap, are we still going in?" Jirandal Tang asked calmly.
"Nothing ventured, nothing gained," Yunse Qiao replied coolly.
"I have an idea," Taeseon Lei interjected. "Let those who want to go in, go in. Those who don’t can stay outside with us and wait for the immortal Spring to open."
"That’s a good plan," Seongwoo Jin clapped and laughed. "This way, no one can accuse us of being overbearing and depriving them of the chance to acquire divine artifacts or techniques."
Wonji Hong immediately felt a bit embarrassed since he had been the first to raise the concern.
Gwonhee Kang suddenly grabbed his arm and gave it a light shake, speaking softly via sound transmission. "Don’t act impulsively. We’re not even sure there are divine artifacts or techniques inside. The Green Lotus Sect disciples are still so calm—I feel like there’s more to this."
"Maybe they’re just afraid of the Body Integration stage wandering spirits," Wonji Hong frowned.
"If other prodigies aren’t afraid, do you think people like Jirandal Tang and Taeseon Lei would be?"
"Isn’t Kenny Lin their martial uncle? Maybe they’re just giving him face?"
"Not likely. These young prodigies have their pride. Bowing to seniority alone doesn’t fit their personalities," Gwonhee Kang argued. Though he wasn’t deeply familiar with Green Lotus Sect’s inner workings, his interactions with their prodigies suggested they weren’t the type to submit easily.
"Besides, we still don’t know who’s been targeting Green Lotus Sect and Eternal One Sect from the shadows."
Wonji Hong, convinced by Gwonhee Kang’s reasoning, fell silent.
A few people had been waiting for his stance to make their move, but seeing him hold back, they also refrained.
In the end, only a few wild cultivators decided to leave, while the rest of the group surprisingly stayed behind.
"Why is no one leaving?" Kenny Lin grumbled.
"People staying here annoys you?" Amalia asked, confused by his attitude.
"Of course. If everyone left, we wouldn’t have to share the treasures," Kenny Lin replied with a sly smile, casting a glance at those sneaking peeks in their direction.
Having entered the Path of Yin and Yang, it seemed as though he had uncovered something.
Amalia sighed inwardly. The gravekeeper had shared nothing with her, and any secrets seemed as intangible as air—once again, the air had won.
Noticing everyone’s keen interest, Kenny Lin chose not to elaborate.
Not only were other sect members on edge, but even Green Lotus Sect disciples were becoming anxious. Kenny Lin’s habit of leaving his thoughts half-expressed was driving them to distraction.
In the end, Renshu Chang was unanimously nominated by his fellow Green Lotus Sect disciples to approach Kenny Lin. Being closest to both Kenny Lin and Amalia, he had little choice but to comply.
He reluctantly walked over, bracing himself.
"Martial Uncle, you mentioned earlier about some ’good stuff.’ Could you tell your nephew a bit more about it?"
Kenny Lin didn’t respond, nor did he even glance at him.
Renshu Chang, desperate, turned to Amalia for help.
Amalia turned to Kenny Lin and said, "After showing off, stop putting on airs. If you know something, just say it."
She suspected that Kenny Lin particularly enjoyed playing the bad cop, leaving her to play the good cop.
From her understanding of Kenny Lin, if he truly didn’t want to reveal something, not a single word would leave his lips. For him to say anything publicly now was obviously deliberate, meant for everyone to hear.
