Chapter 995: Reunited (Part 3)
"What is this?" Amalia asked, the sound of something granular catching her attention.
Kenny Lin untied the sack, revealing a massive pile of spirit orbs—some blue, some purple, and even a few crimson ones.
"They’re from the wandering spirits I killed. Absorb them quickly, and your cultivation level will advance by several stages," he said.
"I haven’t been in the Immortal Palace for long. How did you manage to kill so many in such a short time?" Amalia wasn’t doubting his strength, but it wasn’t like the spirits in the Immortal Palace would conveniently stay in one spot waiting to be killed.
Kenny Lin snapped his fingers. From the shadows of the corridor, a small head peeked out timidly.
"It led the way for you?" Amalia instantly understood.
"Yeah, it’s a little weak, but surprisingly useful," Kenny Lin said casually.
Amalia grabbed a handful of spirit orbs and tossed them toward the little wandering spirit. The little spirit immediately leapt out, eagerly absorbing most of the orbs. A few fell to the ground and rolled into a corner, but the little spirit waddled over, sticking its rear in the air as it retrieved them.
"Weak, yes, but undeniably quite interesting," Amalia remarked, watching the little creature. It reminded her of Wealth, and for a moment, she felt a pang of nostalgia. She didn’t let this sentiment show.
"You’re giving me all these orbs. What about yourself? The energy contained within these spirit orb is somewhat similar to the Yin-Yang Pearl’s. Absorbing it might help repair your Yin-Yang Pearl faster," Amalia said.
Kenny Lin’s heart swelled with joy. He loved how Amalia always thought of him first, no matter the situation.
"I’ve already tried that. The Yin-Yang Pearl has just one tiny crack left—less than a millimeter wide. I’ve absorbed three orbs from the deity transformation stage spirits, and it hasn’t shown any reaction."
"Maybe the quantity isn’t sufficient," Amalia speculated.
"Then it would need an enormous amount. Instead of wasting them on me, it’s better to enhance your cultivation level first. The battles ahead are likely to involve Deity Transformation Stage Spirit, or even Body Integration Stage Spirit."
Amalia hesitated briefly before saying, "Then we’ll share them. I can probably advance to the late stage at most for now, so I don’t need this many. Let’s split them evenly. We’ll both need strength for the battles ahead."
"Fine," Kenny Lin agreed, though it was obvious he was only reluctantly conceding.
He divided the spirit orbs into two halves, intentionally giving Amalia slightly more.
Amalia noticed but chose not to comment.
The two of them then began absorbing the spirit orbs at incredible speed. Kenny Lin used a tendril of black energy, akin to a shadow clone, to draw the energy into himself. Each spirit orb dissolved in less than a second.
Amalia pressed her palm directly onto her share, and within moments, dozens of spirit orbs crumbled to dust.
"This ability—did you gain it in the Path of Chaos?" Kenny Lin asked, already deducing the answer.
"Yes. The old lady in the buried land said I possess chaos-type spiritual veins. It’s just incredibly weak, which is why I never noticed it before. After gaining some insights there, I finally discovered it."
The small wandering spirit watching from the side was utterly stunned by their absorption speed. It took ages for it to absorb just a single spirit orb, yet these two were reducing entire piles to dust in moments.
After finishing the large sack of spirit orb, both of their cultivation levels improved significantly—Amalia reached the late stage of the Soul Formation stage, while Kenny Lin advanced to the peak of the Soul Formation stage.
"Let’s go find the others," Amalia said, her gaze landing briefly on the little wandering spirit. "Should we let it keep following us?"
"Yes, let it follow. It might come in handy later. There’s something odd about this little spirit," Kenny Lin replied, glancing at the creature, which was staring at them nervously as though afraid of being abandoned.
"Alright, then let’s move," Amalia agreed.
Without bothering to conceal their auras, the two headed toward the Lotus Mirage Hall. They quickly found the group led by Jirandal Tang. Upon seeing everyone safe and sound, both Amalia and Kenny Lin felt a sense of relief.
After their arrival, the remaining stragglers trickled in one by one. Those who didn’t show up likely had no intention of joining their group.
"Since we’re all here, let’s talk about our plan. We aim to break through this section of the Immortal Palace. If we’re fortunate enough to locate the Immortal Spring, that would be an added bonus," Jirandal Tang began.
"The Immortal Spring has never been visited before. We have no idea what to expect. If it’s teeming with powerful spirits, we might not be able to handle it," one of the late-arriving wild cultivators said, voicing his doubts.
"Exactly. That’s why our main goal is to get through the Immortal Palace. As for the Immortal Spring, we’ll assess the situation when we find it. If it’s too dangerous, we abandon the idea. But if there’s even a slim chance, we can decide then. This way, we prioritize everyone’s safety while also gathering information about the Immortal Spring," Jirandal Tang explained, nodding confidently.
"I agree," another cultivator chimed in, and soon Jirandal Tang’s proposal received unanimous approval.
The group had gathered here because they all shared similar motivations, so consensus came naturally.
"Amalia, do you have any thoughts to share? Feel free to speak up," Renshu Chang asked warmly, pulling Amalia and Kenny Lin into the discussion circle.
"I don’t have any specific thoughts. Whatever you decide is fine by me," Amalia replied simply.
Renshu Chang nodded in understanding and didn’t press further.
"You’re not going to ask your Martial Uncle about his opinion?" Jiae Yao asked, clearly surprised. Kenny Lin was, after all, the most senior one in the group, yet Renshu Chang hadn’t sought his input and instead consulted Amalia.
"There’s no need. Whatever Amalia says is what he’ll agree with. Our Martial Uncle has no objections," Renshu Chang said matter-of-factly, as though it were the most natural thing in the world.
