Chapter 971: Immortal Spring

The king and his followers strictly forbade their subordinates from entering the Immortal Spring, fearing that empowering them would threaten their rule.

"And where is the Immortal Spring located?"

"To reach the Immortal Spring, you must go deep within the Immortal Palace. But the further you go, the stronger the spirits become. With your power, even if you possess means to restrain spirits, you won’t be a match for those at the Deity Tansformation level," the purple spirit said, lowering its head submissively.

Kenny Lin glanced at it, seeing through its tricks easily.

"Tell me about the powerful spirits in this Immortal Palace. How many are there, what levels are they at, where do they reside, and what level is the strongest spirit?"

The purple spirit dared not withhold anything. "The strongest spirit level here is in the Mahayana stage..."

"Only the Mahayana stage?" Kenny Lin raised an eyebrow.

This Immortal Palace had existed for so long; the spirits at the level of immortals should have emerged by now, not merely the Mahayana stage.

Sensing his dissatisfaction, the purple spirit quickly explained, "I’m not lying! The strongest one truly is at the Mahayana stage, and that’s because of the Immortal Palace’s restrictions."

Kenny Lin glanced at the small spirit next to him, who quickly nodded. This was a result of its training.

"Go on."

"The Immortal Palace does not permit spirits stronger than the Mahayana stage. So, no matter which spirit it is, they will be limited to the Mahayana stage."

"Then, does this mean there are many spirits at the Mahayana stage in the Immortal Palace?"

"No, there are only three Mahayana spirits currently." The purple spirit replied cautiously.

"Are you playing with me?" Kenny Lin’s voice suddenly grew more dangerous.

"I wouldn’t dare! There truly are only three Mahayana spirits right now. Every time a fourth Mahayana spirit appears, one of them mysteriously vanishes. We suspect the Immortal Palace enforces this limit, so spirits don’t become too powerful."

Kenny Lin smirked. "Is that so? I wonder if perhaps they’re being devoured by one of the other Mahayana spirits."

The purple spirit shuddered. This human cultivator was indeed sharp, instantly deducing a suspicion that had lingered among them for a long time. The Immortal Palace’s restrictions could only fool ignorant spirits. To those with ambition, it felt more like an excuse.

After all, spirits could grow stronger by devouring each other.

"One more question: aside from you all, are there any other powerful entities in this Immortal Palace? Have you encountered any immortals?"

The purple spirit no longer underestimated this human. "I’ve only heard rumors. It’s said that deep within the Immortal Palace, there is an extremely powerful entity. My king and the other kings fear this being greatly."

"One last question. Do you have a map of the Immortal Palace?"

The purple spirit’s red eyes flickered with a trace of something unusual. "We don’t record maps of the Immortal Palace. But I’ve survived here for many years and know every part of it by heart. I can take you anywhere you wish to go."

"Didn’t expect you to be this useful," Kenny Lin replied with a smile. "Then take me to find another purple spirit."

"I’m only doing this to survive; I have no choice," the purple spirit said, feigning helplessness as it gestured to the path ahead. "This way, my lord."

As Kenny Lin began to walk in the direction it indicated, he stopped suddenly a few steps later and looked back with a faint smile. "Were you thinking I’m a fool?"

The purple spirit’s expression changed drastically, and without hesitation, it attempted to flee in another direction.

No matter how quickly it moved, it couldn’t match Kenny Lin’s sword. After a scream, all that remained was a pile of powder and a small purple orb.

The small spirit hurriedly picked up the orb and presented it to Kenny Lin in a display of loyalty.

Gazing at the purple spirit’s remains, it showed a trace of contempt. It had encountered countless spirits who underestimated its master and ended up easily slain, so many that it had grown weary of even reacting.

The small spirit looked at its master. Were they going to continue searching for other powerful spirits?

Kenny Lin absorbed the orb, observing the faint crack within the Yin-Yang Pearl that was now nearly closed. However, the energy he absorbed didn’t seem sufficient; it seemed more power was needed than expected.

Yet he was growing impatient. Amalia still hadn’t appeared.

He had always assumed Amalia possessed a gold token as well and would be transported to the same location. Thus, he had remained nearby even after slaying over a dozen purple spirits.

But Amalia had yet to arrive. Either she hadn’t entered the Immortal Palace, or she had been transported to a different place.

Kenny Lin preferred to believe the latter, as if she hadn’t entered the Immortal Palace, there would be serious issues.

The small spirit began to grow anxious, sensing its master’s tense mood.

Meanwhile, Amalia, who was in deep meditation, seemed to merge with the entire tomb. Once more, she glimpsed the threads that formed the fabric of the world. These threads appeared simpler than those she had seen in the Nether Ghost Abyss Realm.

The Mystic Void continent was an extensive, complex land, but this place was different—it was merely a created pocket of space.

Although vast, it was nowhere near the scale of the Mystic Void continent, making its structure simpler.

Amalia’s consciousness instinctively entwined with the threads, and an overwhelming wave of information surged toward her, nearly destabilizing her soul.

The tomb trembled slightly—just a subtle shake—but it didn’t escape the notice of the Old Lady, who snapped her eyes open, her gaze fixed in disbelief on Amalia.

"Could it be? Has she already glimpsed a fragment of the Path of Chaos?" The Old Lady’s eyes flashed with surprise and delight. She never expected that this little girl would bring hrr so many surprises in such a short time.

"Could it be that her earlier rebuttal was actually about herself?"
