Chapter 964: The Conquest of the Purple-Grade Spirit
With spirits lurking everywhere outside, it climbed to the palace rooftop, peeking down through a crack.
The human strode up to the purple-grade spirit seated on its throne, ignoring the wary blue-grade spirits behind him who dared not make a move.
The purple-grade spirit let out a furious roar.
This damned human had invaded its territory and killed so many of its followers.
Dominating the Immortal Palace wasn’t easy. It needed allies and had to secure strategic territories; its followers weren’t just front-line fighters, but also suppliers of essential energy orbs.
Without improving its strength, it knew it would eventually be devoured by a stronger spirit.
Kenny Lin didn’t understand a word of what the purple-grade spirit was saying, nor did he care.
All he knew was that the little spirit had proven useful—it had led him straight to a purple-grade spirit’s domain.
With excitement, he charged at the furious purple-grade spirit without hesitation.
"Seeking death!"
The purple-grade spirit, enraged, shrouded itself in a thick black fog, instantly filling the palace hall with darkness.
The little spirit atop the dome could no longer see the battle.
"Black energy, just what I like," Kenny Lin muttered, releasing sword energy that shot in all directions, slicing into the rolling black mist.
At the same time, the dark energy within his Yin-Yang Pearl eagerly surged forth, disappearing into the black fog.
Moments later, the purple-grade spirit’s terrified roar echoed from within the mist.
What was this? Why was it absorbing his energy, unstoppable no matter how he tried to resist, as his power drained away?
Feeling fear, the purple-grade spirit began to reconsider to escape.
But once the fight had started, escape wasn’t an option.
The dark energy didn’t permit it, and neither did Kenny Lin.
At his command, the dark energy intensified its devouring pace, causing the black mist in the hall to dissipate rapidly, brightening the space once more.
The little spirit watched wide-eyed, sensing the purple-grade spirit’s energy had weakened significantly. As it looked at Kenny Lin again, its gaze held new fear.
From the beginning, this human had given it an unsettling feeling, exuding a peculiar aura that could subdue them.
"All of you, attack him! Kill him!"
The purple-grade spirit, slower to realize the threat, couldn’t hide its fear any longer, ordering its minions to strike.
Some of the more mindless blue-grade spirits obeyed and charged at Kenny Lin, but the shrewder ones had already fled.
After all, if their leader was struggling, charging forward would be suicide.
They knew there were others who wished to seize their leader’s place.
As spirits, they instinctively knew that devouring each other, as well as the flesh of human cultivators, was the path to greater power, so rebellion among spirits was common in the vast Immortal Palace.
One by one, these spirits fell under Kenny Lin’s sword, completely and utterly destroyed.
Terrified, the purple-grade spirit decided to flee, desperately trying to escape while its minions held off the human.
"Go," Kenny Lin murmured, watching the purple-grade spirit’s desperate attempt to flee, his lips curling in a slight smile.
The dark energy lingering at his fingertips shot forward, and just as the purple-grade spirit reached the dome’s edge, it penetrated into its body.
The purple-grade spirit shrieked in horror, a piercing scream that echoed as it fell from the dome to the ground, writhing helplessly until it was drained dry.
The purple orb it contained was likewise absorbed by the dark energy, returning to the Yin-Yang Pearl, which then fed its strength back to Kenny Lin.
He observed that the final crack on the Yin-Yang Pearl’s surface—connecting the realms of Yin and Yang—had finally begun to close, just a tiny fraction.
He’d long suspected that this crack would be the hardest to repair, and this battle confirmed it.
This spirit’s strength was evidently a step above the previous purple one, yet the repair progress was less substantial.
It was clear now that repairing the final crack would require more energy than the others combined.
With their leader defeated, the remaining blue-grade spirits scattered in fear.
Those slower to escape soon joined Kenny Lin’s growing collection of orbs.
The grand hall fell silent, emptied of all spirits.
Kenny Lin tilted his head up, catching sight of the little spirit still watching from above. He gestured with a finger for it to come down.
The little spirit flinched but floated down, trembling a bit before slowly approaching.
"Next time, if you’re this slow again, don’t bother following me," Kenny Lin grumbled, unimpressed by its sluggish pace.
The little spirit shivered a bit, perhaps trying to show it understood, then spat out the blue orbs it had swallowed earlier, gazing at him with hopeful eyes.
"Hmm, you do have some use after all." Kenny Lin raised an eyebrow and gathered up the orbs, along with those scattered around the hall.
The little spirit immediately began scouring the corners for more, bringing anything it found to him, trying hard to please him.
After collecting all the orbs, Kenny Lin turned around to leave, but a thought struck him, and he tossed a blue orb toward the little spirit.
The little spirit stared at him, confused.
"Keep dawdling, and I’ll end you." Without looking back, Kenny Lin walked away.
The little spirit finally realized the orb was a gift and clutched it, overcome with gratitude. It wanted to cry but had no eyes. Cradling the orb, it eagerly followed after him.
With its power boosted from absorbing the orb, the little spirit moved noticeably faster.
Leading Kenny Lin, it soon found another purple-grade spirit’s territory. With his natural suppression over spirits, they fell into chaos, fleeing in every direction.
In desperation, they eventually abandoned the territory altogether.
Meanwhile, disciples from various sects in the Immortal Palace began noticing that they were encountering spirits at an alarming rate—sometimes dozens at once.
Once unified groups of disciples were now scattered due to unforeseen incidents.
In a dark palace deep within the Immortal Palace, a pair of eyes filled with malevolent intent opened in the shadows, glinting with an eerie, sinister smile.
