Chapter 956: Tokens of Entry to the Myriad Immortals Monument
Although unclear on their purpose, everyone instinctively retrieved a token.
"In order to enter the immortal palace within the Myriad Immortals Monument, we need to use the tokens to open the way. Otherwise, we won’t gain entry. However," Jirandai Tang paused, "I’m not certain if the Monument has any requirements regarding the level of tokens. We might not end up in the same place once inside." This uncertainty concerned him; if separated, his fellow disciples could face danger.
"I’ll go first," Taeseon Lei volunteered, pulling out a crystal token.
Jirandai Tang nodded, "Alright. You, Junior Sister Ling, and Junior Brother Jin will use crystal tokens to lead the way. I’ll go with the others."
As the senior brother, he felt a duty to protect his junior disciples. But it wasn’t just an obligation—he also wanted to observe the effect of using different tokens as they entered.
The three of them readily agreed to his plan, as they always did when they went on missions together. Hanjun Wangye, observing them, felt a pang of envy for their bond.
As they entered the Myriad Immortals Monument one by one, its emergence indeed caught others’ attention.
Sensing activity in this direction, nearly everyone charged over without hesitation.
Upon arrival, they spotted the towering ten-zhang-high Myriad Immortals Monument.
"Damn it! Of course, it’s the Green Lotus Sect—they found the Myriad Immortals Monument before us!" Seonho Ming cursed.
When Seongwoo Jin led the other disciples to the canyon, Seonho Ming had noticed that while they occasionally took a glimpse the Green Lotus Sect disciples earlier, those sightings had all but ceased. Back then, he hadn’t thought much of it, assuming his group might reach the monument first. Now, he realized they had been beaten to it.
Temujin Lei’s group arrived shortly after, only to discover others already there.
Two wild cultivators held tokens in their hands and tossed them into the monument. A vortex appeared on the monument’s surface, and as they approached, they were drawn inside.
"We need a token to open the way," Jiheon Yang exclaimed anxiously.
"They’re using black tokens," Temujin Lei noted coolly. "But what effect would silver or crystal tokens have?"
"As long as we can get inside, why worry about other tokens?" Seonho Ming dismissed the concern.
"But what if different tokens lead to different places?" Temujin Lei speculated, not wanting his starting point to be disadvantaged.
Seonho Ming hesitated. "But if we use the crystal tokens, they’ll be gone, and only you and I have them."
Temujin Lei glanced at Jiheon Yang and the others. "Let the others use silver tokens."
Jiheon Yang’s heart sank. He knew Senior Brother Lei had two crystal tokens that he’d missed his chance to claim. Now, it was clear Senior Brother Lei had no intention of sharing them.
"We need to keep at least one crystal token with us, just in case," Temujin Lei explained nonchalantly.
"Senior Brother’s absolutely right. Let’s do as he says," Jiheon Yang replied, keeping his thoughts to himself.
Shortly after they entered the Myriad Immortals Monument, other sects like the Divine Maiden Sect and Artifact Refining Valley arrived, and people continued to enter in succession.
As time passed, the number of newcomers dwindled until hardly a soul could be seen nearby. Finally, four figures dressed in black robes and masked from head to toe appeared in front of the monument.
"So, this is the legendary Myriad Immortals Monument from the era of the great Immortal Wars on Mystic Void Continent?" asked the tallest masked figure, his voice as gravelly as if a stone was lodged in his throat.
"I heard it once housed an immortal palace," another masked figure remarked.
"Heh, let’s go inside." The leader drew out a silver token. "It’s a pity that, because of our mission, we can’t reveal our identities. Otherwise, we might have snatched a crystal token for ourselves."
"Since entering the Path of All Immortals, there’s been no chance to make a move. Those disciples have hardly been separated," another muttered.
"My lord, should we wait here? If the token levels affect where we’re transported, we could lose our advantage," suggested a subordinate.
"There’s no need for that. Those with crystal tokens are likely already inside," the leader replied, throwing the token toward the monument. The Myriad Immortals Monument absorbed the silver token and instantly opened a vortex.
As he stepped inside, the monument sealed shut again. The three remaining masked figures, wary of confronting the monument head-on, obediently tossed their tokens inside and quickly entered as well.
"Strange, we’ve been walking for nearly an hour and a half, yet we haven’t seen a single person," Renshu Chang remarked.
Initially, he had worried about encountering rival sects, but surprisingly, not a single figure had appeared.
"It’s likely they’ve all gathered in one area, perhaps finding a hidden places or something similar," Jinhwa Hou speculated.
"Are there hidden places in the Path of All Immortals?" Renshu Chang asked, surprised.
"Does an Immortal’s mansion count?" Kenny Lin responded lazily.
Both of them immediately focused on him. "How do you know about it?"
"I’ve been there," Kenny Lin answered curtly.
The two of them showed remarkable restraint and didn’t press him on how he had accessed it.
In the Path of All Immortals, the unexpected was common, and any number of things could happen.
"How much longer until we find your senior brother?" Kenny Lin’s brow furrowed slightly in impatience. He was eager to meet Amalia, despite a nagging sense of unease.
"From here on, the trail markings are scattered. They were likely searching for something up ahead, so we should find them soon," Jinhwa Hou replied.
Jinhwa Hou suddenly wore a peculiar expression. "Speaking of finding things, my master once told me that there’s a place in the Path of All Immortals one must visit upon reaching it."
"What place?" Renshu Chang asked eagerly.
"The Myriad Immortals Monument, they say it’s actually an immortal palace inside, full of endless opportunities, unlike the desolate lands out here."
