Chapter 944: Setting the Stage for the Path of All Immortals
"As your Martial Uncle, I can’t just take my junior grandnephew’s resources. I’ve got my own pills. Keep them; you all may face tough battles soon as well," Kenny Lin replied considerately.
Hearing this, Amalia took out a bottle of pills, which in reality contained only spirit-replenishing medicine.
Kenny Lin made a show of taking one in front of everyone, and while he still looked pale, he seemed slightly better.
Jirandai Tang didn’t insist further. Now that the main event was over, the real free-for-all was about to begin.
Because of the Gold Token, by this time in previous years, everyone would already be engaged in battles, each focusing only on their own struggles. But the addition of the Gold Token and Kenny Lin’s unpredictable influence had limited the activity to only three matches so far.
Now that the Gold Token was out of play, attention finally shifted away from Kenny Lin.
Though it was surprising to discover he was Master Lian’s disciple, that alone didn’t hold their focus for long.
"Did you really have to overdo it like that?" When no one was watching, Amalia nudged his chest with her elbow, hinting at his repeated bloody coughs.
"Of course! How else am I supposed to play the game in the Path of All Immortals?" Kenny Lin replied. Noting Amalia’s frown, he added, "Besides, if I didn’t put on this show, people would fear the Green Lotus Sect even more. That fear would make them more likely to join forces against us inside the Path of All Immortals. Only by making them feel that the Green Lotus Sect isn’t unbeatable will they relax."
"You have so many strange excuses." She rolled her eyes, fully aware that he was mostly indulging his own whims.
"Because they make sense," Kenny Lin replied smugly.
"Don’t get cocky. Is the poison completely cleared from your body? No lasting damage?"
Hearing Amalia’s concern, Kenny Lin couldn’t help but beam internally. "You should know what kind of person your fiancé is by now. The tricks Dongjian Zhao used were things I’d already grown tired of playing with as a kid."
"Take it easy and focus on them," Amalia replied, turning her gaze to the battle ring, which was in utter chaos.
The elite cultivators from Green Lotus Sect had also gone to challenge their chosen opponents.
Unlike Kenny Lin and Amalia, who fought with ferocity, these cultivators took a lighter approach, striking only to prove their skill without pushing too far. The stakes of winning and losing were relatively mild, within an acceptable range for both sides. This made it almost impossible to gauge the full abilities of elite figures like Temujin Lei.
"What’s the point of these weak and gentle skirmishes?" Kenny Lin yawned, looking bored.
"This is probably the ’proper’ way to spar. They’ve fought each other before, so they know their limits and won’t reveal their best moves prematurely. With a clear sense of their own abilities, they concede if they’re unlikely to win," Amalia observed. "Unlike us—who fight until one of us is spitting blood."
Watching these challenges, Amalia realized that while they were sparring, she and Kenny Lin fought as if their lives depended on it.
There were exceptions, though. Temujin Lei, perhaps feeling agitated after recent incidents with Seonho Ming and Jiheon Yang, challenged another elite and almost crippled him, displaying overwhelming power. Even after his opponent surrendered, Temujin Lei cast a chilling look their way.
For the most part, th Green Lotus Sect’s champions won far more than they lost. But they also faced the highest number of challenges—being the ones holding the most title plates made them the top targets.
The one faring worst was Dongjian Zhao, who was severely injured. Others knew his strength had waned and seized the opportunity to challenge him. He had to accept, winning one match but losing another, failing to gain any plates and worsening his injuries. Furious, he spat blood once more.
After this round, the weaker cultivators were almost entirely eliminated, leaving only the strongest competitors.
It was clear that weaker cultivators couldn’t slip by unnoticed here; they were targeted early on and, without genuine skills, had little chance of remaining.
The sky over Ten Thousand Floating Island remained bright even at night. The unstable space, marred by the lingering aftereffects of previous battles and a few residual barriers, meant that there was no consistent day and night here.
The crowd rested for the night, and by the next morning, the Path of All Immortals opened for its second entry.
The next morning, everyone gathered once more. The entrance for the first and second openings of the Path of All Immortals was in the same place.
It was like a thin veil was being lifted, and the entrance to the Path of All Immortals gradually appeared before them.
Whether it was their first or second time seeing it, the sight in front of them left everyone in awe.
Countless grand paths stretched into the distance, leading to a massive palace on the other side of the mirrored expanse. Although it appeared shrunken by thousands of times, they could still sense the majesty and intricate splendor of the palace.
"Will this entrance remain open?" Amalia asked curiously, wondering if people outside could see what was happening inside.
"It will stay open until everyone is sent back out. Only then will it close on its own."
"Then can you see what’s happening inside?" Amalia looked toward Elder Wang, who had answered her question.
Elder Wang, seemingly aware of what she was thinking, chuckled. "These paths may seem close, but they’re actually illusory. Once you enter, you’ll first have to pass through that palace before truly reaching these paths."
"Elder Wang is right. After entering the palace, remember to stay true to your heart," Elder Tan added, offering a word of advice.
Everyone nodded their heads in agreement.
Stroking his beard, Elder Tan looked ahead and said, "The Path of All Immortals is stable now. You can go."
