Chapter 936: Unseen Blades

Seongwoo Jin and Jinhwa Hou exchanged glances, thinking, Ten days?

"I know what I’m doing," Amalia replied firmly.

Seeing her resolve, they realized nothing would change her mind.

Amalia stepped forward, looking directly at Jiheon Yang across the field. She called out, "Jiheon Yang! Do you dare face me in a duel?"

The crowd went silent in shock. Had they heard right? A Nascent Soul disciple from the Green Lotus Sect was challenging a late-stage Soul Formation disciple from the Eternal One Sect?

The Green Lotus Sect had just won an impressive victory; now, what were they doing? Were they risking their new reputation already?

"Junior Sister, is your beloved out to get herself killed?" Jiae Yao murmured in disbelief to Kailash Ren.

Kailash Ren was stunned, so shocked that she didn’t even notice when Senior Sister Yao referred to Amalia as her beloved.

"What on earth is the Green Lotus Sect thinking? Shouldn’t Jirandai Tang and Taeseon Lei try to stop this?" Nari Yin looked exasperated.

"Maybe they have another strategy in mind?"

"Come on, that’s nonsense. Everyone can tell this is a losing battle. If they want to challenge Eternal One Sect again, why not send someone with a better chance? Letting a Nascent Soul complete level go up against them is just reckless."

Eternal One Sect was already in low spirits, but Jiheon Yang was completely shocked when he realized Amalia had singled him out.

He had long wanted to get back at her but hadn’t expected the chance to come now.

For a moment, he couldn’t even react, wondering if he’d imagined it.

"Jiheon Yang, go out there and kill her," Temujin Lei’s voice was flat but filled with an icy killing intent.

A shiver ran down Jiheon Yang’s spine. He wasn’t mistaken—this was real.

"Yes, kill her!" Seonho Ming’s face was twisted with satisfaction.

"Senior Brother, she’s walking straight to her death. Do her a favor and send her to reunite with the Green Lotus Sect’s ancestors!" Hwejong Xiong sneered.

"Rest assured, a mere Nascent Soul level? She’ll be done in under a quarter-hour!" Jiheon Yang couldn’t hide his excitement—this was his chance for revenge and to impress the elders of the Eternal One Sect.

"Go ahead. Whether Eternal One Sect can reclaim its honor depends on you."

Jiheon Yang, carrying this mission, marched confidently toward Amalia. He smirked, "You’re practically begging to die. You should know, that I wasn’t even planning to challenge you, and yet here you are. Don’t expect any mercy from me."

"Don’t worry. I won’t beg," Amalia said calmly. "I’ll bet my crystal token against all the tokens you have. Do you dare?"

"Of course I dare. Why would I turn down a gift?" Jiheon Yang’s eyes glinted with greed.

All he had were fewer than twenty black tokens, and if he could win a crystal token, he’d have a great opportunity in the All Immortals Path.

"Let’s get started, then," Jiheon Yang said impatiently, tossing all his tokens onto a large stone on the ground.

Amalia threw her crystal token over as well. The winner would take it all.

As soon as the crystal token left her hand, Jiheon Yang Yaonged forward.

"How despicable! He’s trying to attack by surprise!" Junior Brother Hsu shouted.

"In challenges with few set rules, it’s all about staying alert. Keep watching—the upcoming fight might have lessons worth learning." Renshu Chang advised, adding a reminder.

Junior Brother Hsu focused on the battle. But as soon as he looked back, the fight had changed. Jiheon Yang’s surprise attack hadn’t gained him an advantage; instead, he was being pushed back, their blades clashing just as quickly as in the previous round.

Amalia kept close to Jiheon Yang, maximizing her skill in close combat skill. Her spiritual power surged to the limit, drawing in energy with every swing, creating a faint whirl around her.

Jiheon Yang, shocked, tried to regain control. But he quickly realized he couldn’t. Simply fending off her attacks left him flustered, while Amalia’s momentum only grew.

"Something’s not right!"

Amalia’s blade was incredibly fast, with no fancy moves—just simple chops and slashes, but at such speed that Jiheon Yang couldn’t keep up. Every time he tried to regain control, her blade was there to stop him, almost as if she could predict his next move.

On top of that, her blade struck at angles that seemed designed to wear him down. Though her strikes weren’t particularly powerful, they were relentless, like a storm.

Soon, his body was covered in small cuts. None were lethal or hindering his strength, but they were enough to make him feel completely frustrated.

He knew he was stronger, yet he couldn’t find a chance to counterattack. He was even afraid to take risks, wary of her blade that seemed to be everywhere at once.

What Jiheon Yang didn’t realize was that Amalia wasn’t really seeing him as a person—she saw him as one of the devil ghosts she’d trained against. She had spent four months in the Nether Ghost Abyss Realm, studying ways to strike down devil ghosts and avoid their attacks. These devil ghosts grew stronger and smarter the deeper she went; they could strategize and attack in coordinated ways.

Through constant training, Amalia learned the key to success: speed.

Before she could figure out how to kill a devil ghost, she first had to learn to avoid its strikes to stay unharmed. Under her blindingly fast attacks, Jiheon Yang could only retreat again and again.

"Am I seeing this right? Why is Jiheon Yang getting pushed back?" one of the spectators rubbed their eyes in disbelief.

"I see it too! He’s really being pressured. And it looks like there’s more than one blade—it’s making my head spin."

"Her blade is so fast that it looks like there are several. That’s why Jiheon Yang can’t find an opening."

"With that speed, though, she must be using up a lot of energy, and I doubt each strike is very powerful."

"Exactly. Instead of being led around like this, Jiheon Yang should just block her directly and try to take control. Otherwise, he might actually lose from blood loss."
