Chapter 934: A Hard-Won Victory

The pure energy from the Path of All Immortals was richer than that on the Mystic Void Continent, speeding up his recovery, especially with the help of elixirs.

Seonho Ming’s confidence was shaken, something he hadn’t expected at the start of this challenge.

"If you’ve got the skill, break my defense! Otherwise, you’re the one who’ll die next!"

"Seonho Ming has lost," Taeseon Lei stated calmly.

"Yes, switching from offense to defense is always a loss," Jirandai Tang agreed.

The best defense is always offense; no cultivator wins by defending alone.

"As you wish," Kenny Lin said. The Yin-Yang Pearl within him began to spin rapidly, releasing a surge of spiritual energy.

Everyone assumed he was only gathering energy to restore his own, which was partly true. But there was a hidden purpose.

A rumbling sound, like mountains shaking, exploded as he finished speaking.

Seonho Ming, channeling spiritual energy into his artifact, suddenly froze as a crack appeared. His eyes widened in terror.

Under his gaze, the crack expanded, and it looked like the sword light would soon pierce through—possibly hitting him directly behind the artifact.

Seonho Ming hurriedly retreated, slashing at the sword light piercing through his artifact. He wasn’t struck directly, but blood trickled from his mouth.

This artifact had been refined with his heart’s blood, linking it to him. Its destruction injured his internal organs as well.

The defensive artifact shattered, its fragments scattering in all directions. From behind it, Kenny Lin rushed forward, his sword swinging relentlessly as he charged at Seonho Ming, striking several more times.

Each strike forced Seonho Ming back, his robes sliced by the sword’s shockwaves, leaving him ragged and battered.

He couldn’t believe it—how could he be cornered by someone only in the middle of the Soul Formation stage? They were two minor realms apart; the gap between the peak of the Soul Formation stage and the middle of the Soul Formation stage shouldn’t even be comparable.

"Do you surrender?" Kenny Lin demanded, striking again.

Seonho Ming’s anger flared. "Dream on! Just because you broke my defense doesn’t mean you’ve won. This battle has just begun!"

With a roar, he stomped hard on the ground and launched his counterattack.

Both of them had almost exhausted their spiritual energy. After hundreds of moves, neither of them seemed able to overpower the other.

In plain view, Kenny Lin took out several pill bottles, poured their contents into his mouth, and swallowed them all, making his Spirit energy surge through his veins like boiling water.

His face turned blue, then white, then red, distorting with pain, and thin lines of blood trickled down his hand gripping the sword.

Seonho Ming wasn’t about to be outdone and swallowed a large amount of spirit-restoring pills too. His meridians were wider, so he didn’t suffer as visibly as Kenny Lin did.

With their spirit power partly restored, they both struck out at once. A sword light capable of shattering the heavens rushed toward Seonho Ming, while a blazing blade light, sharp and unstoppable, sliced toward Kenny Lin.

Sword and blade collided, sending up a thick cloud of smoke like a massive mushroom, and the barrier around them trembled slightly, unable to fully absorb the impact.

The spectators craned their necks, hoping to see who had won through the thick smoke.

In the end, all they could see was the lingering force from each attack still surging toward both fighters.

The Green Lotus Sect disciples watched tensely. Amalia felt her arm tighten as she turned her head to see Renshu Chang clutching her arm anxiously, holding his breath.

"Amalia, how are you so calm? Aren’t you worried about martial uncle?"

Renshu Chang whispered. Since they were a couple, he thought she’d be the most concerned, but her calmness surprised him.

A strange light flashed in Amalia’s eyes. "Worrying won’t help. I trust him."

"You really have faith in martial uncle," Renshu Chang murmured with a complicated expression.

Amalia pulled at the corner of her mouth, trying not to smile too widely. How could she not worry? When she saw that familiar look of "pain" on that drama king’s face, she knew the performance had only just begun.

As the black-gray smoke cleared, the outcome was finally visible to everyone—it was a narrow victory for the Green Lotus Sect.

Seonho Ming had a deep wound across his shoulder, cutting through his shoulder blade.

His white robe was stained with red dripping blood down its length.

Kenny Lin didn’t suffer as severely but looked no better off. His face was pale, and though he had fewer visible wounds, he’d exhausted his spirit energy, leaving some lingering aftereffects.

Despite the hard-won victory, defeating someone at the peak of the Soul Formation stage—two minor levels above his own—proved his strength and earned him the title of an exceptional talent.

"It’s wonderful! martial uncle had won!" The Green Lotus Sect disciples cheered, thrilled to see their martial uncle preserve one of the gold tokens.

"It’s no wonder martial uncle wanted to guard the two tokens by himself; his power is incredible!" Senior Brother Dai exclaimed excitedly.

"I told you, there’s no way Master Lian’s student would lack skill!"

"I’ve waited so long to see the Eternal One Sect get humiliated. Now they know what it feels like! They won’t dare challenge us so easily next time!"

Even the elite disciples like Jirandai Tang smiled slightly. Winning meant more than just keeping the gold token; it also spread the Green Lotus Sect’s reputation even further.

The Eternal One Sect had long wanted to replace the Green Lotus Sect as the top sect on the Mystic Void Continent, eyeing them with envy and challenging them repeatedly.

Although this was just a duel between two Soul Formation stage disciples, it clearly showed that the strength and foundation of the Green Lotus Sect remained far out of Eternal One Sect’s reach.

Compared to the Green Lotus Sect’s cheers, the atmosphere on the Eternal One Sect’s side was somber, from the disciples to the elders outside the barrier.
