Chapter 911: Complications of Reputation
Seeing Amalia and Kenny Lin talk so casually with the Sixth Elder, many of the other disciples gave them strange looks.
Besides Renshu Chang, most of the others were either always in seclusion or constantly out on missions. Even their friends rarely saw them, let alone Amalia.
But it was because of this dedication that these disciples had stood out among their peers. True geniuses and prodigies didn’t rely only on talent—behind the scenes, they worked harder than anyone else.
Because of this, most people didn’t know about Amalia or Kenny Lin’s background. Seeing them chatting so familiarly with Sixth Elder left everyone surprised.
"Renshu Chang, who are they? The Sixth Elder seems to be treating them quite politely," a deep, seductive voice suddenly whispered in Renshu Chang’s ear.
Renshu Chang instantly recognized the speaker. There was only one person with a voice so naturally tempting—Senior Brother Jin. It was also one of the reasons he attracted so many women.
"Senior Brother Jin, could you tone down your voice? I’m not one of your old lovers," Renshu Chang responded.
Seongwoo Jin just laughed, his handsome face shining with charm. "My voice is just like this, you know that."
"It seems that Senior Brother Jin doesn’t want to know who they are," Renshu Chang said calmly.
"Alright, now can you tell me?" Seongwoo Jin finally gave in, his tone suddenly becoming more mature and losing the teasing edge.
Renshu Chang nodded, satisfied. "When you meet them, make sure to address them as junior master uncle and martial aunt."
"Junior Master Uncle and Martial Aunt who are weaker than me?" Seongwoo Jin grinned widely.
"Don’t be so sure," Renshu Chang replied with a smile. "Even though the two of them have lower cultivation levels than you, they might just beat you up if you push them too far. Do you believe that?"
"Not at all," Seongwoo Jin answered without hesitation.
Renshu Chang wasn’t surprised. Seongwoo Jin was a genius, and not a weak one either. His master often said that if Seongwoo Jin put half as much effort into cultivating as he did into chasing women, his accomplishments would be just as great as any of the other senior disciples.
Unfortunately, life doesn’t work that way. No one is perfect, and there’s probably no such thing as a flawless person in this world.
For some reason, Renshu Chang suddenly thought of Amalia. Did she have any flaws? He couldn’t come up with anything for a moment.
"Junior Brother Chang?" Seongwoo Jin noticed Renshu Chang had zoned out and found it amusing.
"Senior Brother Jin, whether you believe me or not, it’s best not to mess with martial uncle and martial aunt. Martial uncle is someone who likes to holds grudges, and if you upset him or make Amalia mad, someday you’ll really regret it," Renshu Chang said, snapping back to reality and giving a warning.
"Is that really possible?" Seongwoo Jin laughed, but Renshu Chang could tell he didn’t take it seriously at all.
"You just called him Junior Master Uncle. Is he a disciple of Master Lian?" Seongwoo Jin asked.
Renshu Chang was surprised he even knew. "So, you’re aware of that?"
Seongwoo Jin shrugged, "I only know that Master Lian took on a disciple. But what about that girl? You didn’t call her Martial Aunt earlier, yet now you’re saying she is. Isn’t that contradictory?"
"She doesn’t care much about titles, so it’s not a big deal," Renshu Chang said with a glance at Amalia, who was still chatting with Sixth Elder. He lowered his voice and explained, "She’s the disciple of the famous Senior Tian Wuya. My master says that Senior Tian Wuya is of the same generation as Master Lian, so we’re supposed to call her Martial Aunt."
He didn’t go into all the complicated details, but Seongwoo Jin quickly understood.
"So she’s a disciple of Senior Tian Wuya. Well, it seems she might be in for some trouble."
Renshu Chang was confused. "What trouble?"
Seongwoo Jin motioned with his chin toward someone. "Over there."
Renshu Chang followed his gaze and recognized the person immediately. "Junior Brother Hsu."
Seongwoo Jin smirked mischievously. "Your Junior Brother Hsu has always wanted to become a disciple of Senior Tian Wuya, but no matter how hard he tried, Senior Tian Wuya wouldn’t accept him. Then, only a few years later, Senior Tian Wuya took Amalia as his disciple. What do you think Junior Brother Hsu feels about that?"
Renshu Chang thought about it for a while and shook his head. "Junior Brother Hsu is talented, but he’s still far behind Amalia. Everything Amalia has achieved is because of her own hard work."
"But other people might not see it that way. They’ll probably think Amalia’s success came after becoming Senior Tian Wuya’s disciple."
"Junior Brother Hsu isn’t that unreasonable," Renshu Chang said, frowning.
"Well, let’s hope you’re right."
"I should go talk to Junior Brother Hsu," Renshu Chang said, suddenly feeling uneasy.
"If you go now, it might make things worse," Seongwoo Jin replied.
"What do you mean?" Renshu Chang turned to look at him.
"You’ve been spending all this time with Martial Uncle and Martial Aunt, and haven’t even said hello to Junior Brother Hsu. Now that they’re not talking to you, you’re going to talk to him? He might think you’re only doing it because you have no one else to talk to."
Renshu Chang hesitated. "It’s not like that. I’ve been with them because they don’t know much about Path of All Immortals. Since my master entrusted them to me, it’s my duty to help them."
"Junior Brother Hsu might not see it that way. He could think you’re only coming to him as a backup option," Seongwoo Jin said, patting Renshu Chang on the shoulder. "Think about it carefully."
After hearing that, Renshu Chang, who was about to go greet Junior Brother Hsu, paused in uncertainty.
That hesitation didn’t go unnoticed by Junior Brother Hsu and another senior brother nearby.
