Chapter 896: The Threads Of The Rules

Chapter 896: The Threads Of The Rules

Even though she had been exhausted, Amalia had never stopped putting all her strength into each slash. But for the first time, she felt an overwhelming amount of power flow through her body.

Her blade emitted a low hum as it sliced through the air, causing her wrist to tremble slightly. The surrounding spiritual energy rushed into her body as if it had gone wild.

Unseen by anyone, a section of her normally dormant black spiritual root began to glow inside her.

"Huh?" Tian Wuya, watching from above, let out a barely audible sound of surprise.

Amalia noticed her blade suddenly felt lighter, and after swinging it, she saw something unusual: thin threads in the air, running parallel without ever crossing.

The sight lasted less than a second, but she saw it clearly.

Some of the threads disappeared into her body, while the Devil Ghost in front of her, though still moving erratically, never touched a single one.

Amalia’s eyes narrowed as she quickly retreated to create distance between herself and the devil ghost.

The Devil Ghost, which had never feared her blade before, now avoided her strike as if it had suddenly gained intelligence.

Amalia steadied her blade on the ground, her gaze calm and focused on the Devil Ghost. She could no longer see the threads, but that flash of insight remained in her mind. With that memory, it didn’t matter if she couldn’t see the threads anymore.

Dust rose slightly under her feet as she surged forward like a streak of light.

Without hesitation, she swung her blade. This time, it felt as though the space itself was being torn apart. The threads appeared again, flickering briefly, and her blade sliced just above them, hitting the Devil Ghost as it tried to dodge.

A soft squelch echoed, no longer the hollow sound of her blade passing through without harm. This time, her blade cut through flesh.

The Devil Ghost let out a high-pitched scream before vanishing from the world.

Amalia wiped her blade on the ground and exhaled a long breath, her body drenched in sweat and looking utterly worn out. Yet, her eyes gleamed brightly, just like Kenny Lin’s when she had seen him in the mirror.

She had done it. She had finally succeeded.

She didn’t know how much time had passed, only that she had accomplished what she set out to do.

Each day, she had swung her vlade hundreds of times, and altogether, she must have made tens of thousands of slashes by now.

Silently, Tian Wuya appeared by her side.

Amalia only noticed her master’s presence after a moment, then turned around with a bright smile. "Master, I did it! What time is it now?"

Tian Wuya looked at her with a complex expression, still holding a trace of disbelief in his eyes. "It’s been about a month and a half. You actually managed to do it within two months, half a month earlier than I expected," she said, clearly impressed. "Calling you a genius would be an understatement."

"How did you do it?" he asked.

Amalia paused for a second and shook her head. "I don’t know either, Master. It was like a sudden understanding."

Tian Wuya looked at her deeply. "If that’s really the case, then you’re truly favored by the heavens."

Amalia hesitated for a moment. "Master, I also saw some strange threads."

Tian Wuya was surprised. "You could see the threads of the rules?"

"Threads of the rules?" Amalia was puzzled.

"Those fine threads you saw are part of what makes up the Mystic Void Continent. We call them the rules. The fact that you can see them is astonishing. Even I feel a bit jealous of your talent," Tian Wuya said with a sigh, now understanding how those who had been envious of her in her youth must have felt.

Being able to see the threads of the rules at the Nascent Soul stage was incredibly rare—Tian Wuya couldn’t recall a single person who had done so before.

Amalia remained silent.

Tian Wuya continued, "Don’t tell anyone about this. I fear others might gang up on you out of jealousy. Just because you can kill a Devil Ghost doesn’t mean things will get easier. I’ll give you one hour to rest. After that, prepare yourself."

Amalia nodded, "Understood."

She immediately began restoring her spiritual energy. Although those two powerful strikes had unleashed immense force, they had also taken a heavy toll on her body and energy.

After an hour, as expected, Tian Wuya brought out two more Devil Ghosts. Whenever Amalia showed the slightest sign of ease, he would quickly add another. Eventually, there were more than ten.

Amalia, who had thought things would get a little easier, found herself in worse shape than she had been in that entire month and a half.

Devil Ghosts were already fast, and with multiple attacking at once, it was easy to make mistakes. Any slip-up, and the devil ghost would immediately took advantage of it.

Now, Amalia wasn’t faring much better than Kenny Lin had. Thankfully, she was wearing black clothes, so the blood wasn’t visible. Still, she had to stay completely focused the entire time.

Fortunately, after a month and a half of non-stop blade training, her body had developed the habit of putting everything into every strike. Her slashes had become almost instinctual.

After a month of high-intensity battles like this, she had grown used to the rhythm of fighting twenty Devil Ghosts at once.

One day, the dark mist in the Nether Ghost Abyss Realm seemed to thin slightly. The sky above remained gray, but her vision could now stretch farther than before.

"It seems you’ve gotten used to this intensity," Tian Wuya’s cheerful voice echoed through the Nether Ghost Abyss Realm.

Amalia tensed up at the sound of her master’s voice. Every time she spoke, it meant she was about to face another hellish battle.

"In one hour, we’ll start again."

Amalia quickly took the opportunity to rest. She had been fighting for many days without a break. This time, she had been keeping track and realized it had been about a month. That meant she had been in the Nether Ghost Abyss Realm for two and a half months, leaving her only three and a half months until the Path of All Immortals.
