Chapter 875: The Pixiu’s Escape and the Beast King’s Fury

With a clear conscience, Huoyan Huasheng led the Green Lotus Sect disciples forward.

Perhaps it was a stroke of luck for the human race. Not long after Huoyan Huasheng and his group joined the fray, others arrived as well, swelling the ranks and bolstering the fight. Amalia and Kenny Lin arrived nearby, but they were just a moment too late, witnessing Huoyan Huasheng and the other Green Lotus Sect disciples already embroiled in the chaotic battle.

"Why has Huoyan Huasheng joined in?" Kenny Lin asked, surprised.

"I also remember the Sect Leader saying the Green Lotus Sect’s objective wasn’t the Pixiu. Could it be they’ve misunderstood?" Amalia wondered aloud.

Even though both were intelligent, neither could fathom that Huoyan Huasheng was so selfless and righteous, simply fighting because devils were enemies of Mystic Void Continent.

Since their cultivation levels weren’t high enough to avoid being caught up in the intense battle between powerful opponents, they decided to observe the battle for the time being.

The battle raged on from night until dawn. The first rays of the rising sun pierced the night sky, gradually increasing in number, signaling Silent Echo Valley’s awakening from its slumber.

The humans fought with growing vigor, while the devils, in contrast, retreated more and more. The number of devils that has been killed far exceeded the casualties among the humans. Realizing they were outmatched, the stronger devils in the back finally called for a retreat.

No longer interested in the fight, the devils promptly ceased their attacks and swiftly began their retreat.

Seojin Feng saw that the devils were retreating, but there was still no sign of the Pixiu.

In a panic, he was about to give chase when he realized that he was the only one moving.

Turning around, he saw Taejin Yun standing still, his face grim and his bloodshot eyes fixated on the corpse of the Lord-level devil lying on the ground. He quickly returned to his side.

"City Lord Yun, if we don’t pursue them now, once these devils leave Silent Echo Valley, it will be nearly impossible to reclaim the Pixiu," he said, trying to suppress his frustration.

Yeonseon Yang and Hyunwoo Chen also looked toward Taejin Yun, expecting him to be the most eager to act.

"No need to chase," Taejin Yun exhaled a long breath, his expression as dark as ever, a cloud of gloom almost visibly hanging over him.

"Why not?" Seojin Feng, still not fully understand the situation, immediately asked, his face hardening.

Without answering directly, Taejin Yun pulled out a jade vial and poured out a drop of green liquid, letting it fall onto the body of the Gu King, whose body had been swelling with agitation.

As the creature absorbed the drop, its body quickly returned to its normal size, shrinking at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Everyone’s expressions darkened instantly upon seeing this.

"What’s going on?" they demanded, their eyes on Taejin Yun, awaiting an explanation. They had trusted him, which is why they had cooperated. Yet now, they hadn’t even caught a glimpse of the Pixiu.

Taejin Yun took a deep breath, his face twisted in malice. "We’ve been tricked. This devil had Heavenly Dew on him."

"That’s impossible! Isn’t Heavenly Dew unique to your Harmonywood City? How could this devil have it?" Seojin Feng raged, demanding answers.

"It wasn’t inherent; someone planted Heavenly Dew on him. The mastermind behind this deliberately set us up to fight the devils. The Pixiu is either already in their hands, or it’s been set free."

It wasn’t until the devil, affected by the Heavenly Dew, was killed that Taejin Yun realized just how terribly wrong he had been.

"Set free?" Yeonseon Yang’s eyes involuntarily shifted to Huoyan Huasheng.

Among those people present, only the Green Lotus Sect had publicly shown no interest in the Pixiu, and had even hindered their efforts to obtain it. Moreover, they were the only ones who hadn’t been with them the entire time.

Huoyan Huasheng didn’t know that Sect Leader Qing had recently collaborated with Amalia and managed to swindle eight drops of Heavenly Dew from Harmonywood City. So now, Huoyan Huasheng just stood there openly, with no trace of guilt.

"Those two Pixiu you encountered when they left Ten Thousand Beasts Mountain, you must have crossed paths with them, didn’t you?" Yeonseon Yang asked with a sly smile.

"And if we did? Am I obligated to report it to you?" Huoyan Huasheng retorted calmly.

"Jiho Wang, would you really have been so kind as to let the two Pixiu go?" Taejin Yun, still refused to believe that Jiho Wang could be so magnanimous letting those Pixiu go.

Jiho Wang, sensing Taejin Yun’s probing for information, chuckled. "Of course, this city lord would’ve loved to keep them, but I would have needed the strength to do so."

Taejin Yun’s face darkened. He knew that Jiho Wang and the others couldn’t have captured the Pixiu in such a short time; the most likely scenario was that they had let it escape.

But after spending so much Heavenly Dew and not getting the Pixiu, the worst part was that the Heavenly Dew might have fallen into someone else’s hands, leaving them all spinning in circles. Not only had he lost out, but internal problems had also surfaced, making this his greatest loss yet.

Just as the group found themselves at a stalemate, a crushing, overpowering pressure suddenly descended from above.

Everyone’s faces changed.

It was Dalamadur—he hadn’t left!

Taejin Yun’s face turned pale. To Dalamadur, he was the one who had deceived him, and he would surely come after him first.

"You’ve all made it quite hard for me to find you," Dalamadur’s sinister voice echoed from above.

The group looked up but couldn’t see Dalamadur. He wasn’t above them—his green robe was hidden in the shadows. His aura filled the entire sky, and although he didn’t deliberately conceal his presence, it was overwhelming.

The aura of a Beast King, equivalent to that of a Body Integration Stage cultivator, sent not only the nearby demonic beasts trembling in fear, but even some weaker cultivators turned red with anxiety, feeling as if their bodies were about to be crushed.
