Chapter 869: The Forbidden Land

The three Pixiu exchanged glances. "It’s not impossible; we can give it a try."

Kenny Lin nodded. "If that doesn’t work, a lord-level devil will do." He then glanced at Amalia. Amalia took out a small vial containing five drops of Heavenly Dew. "This is the Heavenly Dew. If you can apply it to the devil, it will attract the humans and Dalamadur who are hunting you, causing them to fight each other, giving you time to escape from Silent Echo Valley."

The three Pixiu were once again stunned by their actions. These two weak humans even had the Heavenly Dew; this method was better than any they had previously thought of.

If they could really get the devils and Dalamadurs to fight, it would benefit them immensely without any drawbacks.

"Should we do it?" Kenny Lin asked leisurely.

"Let’s do it! I’ll go!" Gor’kan immediately agreed, gritting his teeth. If it succeeded, they and the cub would be safe; if it failed, there would be no loss.

"Then hurry, before those humans realize that Vryss’laar has already neutralized the poison," Amalia said, tossing the small vial to Gor’kan.

Gor’kan glanced at the Heavenly Dew in the vial and suddenly asked, "Does it have to be a monarch-level devil? There are five drops here; if it’s a lord-level, I can apply it to two devils. The humans already know there’s more than one of us."

"That works too." Amalia agreed after pondering for a moment. The fragrant mist was originally meant to create confusion; if it could mislead them for a while, that would be sufficient.

"Gor’kan, be careful," Zhar’khaen and Vryss’laar urged.

Gor’kan nodded, stepping onto a stone at the cave entrance, his body suddenly soaring out.

The devils were quite active now; finding them wouldn’t be difficult. As long as they located one devil, they could trace others easily.

"Um, can I hold the cub?" Vryss’laar looked eagerly at the noble one in Amalia’s arms. It was such a soft little bundle; even though its appearance was different from their true forms, it indeed had the bloodline of the Pixiu inside. He could already sense it; the resonance between bloodlines couldn’t be faked.

Amalia handed the cub to him.

Vryss’laar carefully cradled the little cub in his arms, looking as if he were a devoted believer holding a sacred object.

Seeing them treat the cub with such care, Amalia felt her heart lighten.

"Vryss’laar, let me hold it too," Zhar’khaen said, feeling restless watching.

"No way, your hands are too rough," Vryss’laar flatly rejected.

"I’ll be careful! Let me hold it; it won’t hurt anything," Zhar’khaen argued.

Vryss’laar hesitated for a moment, then said, "Fine, but be careful. It’s really small and soft; don’t use too much strength. It’s too fragile right now."

Zhar’khaen grew nervous hearing him, his movements becoming stiff and awkward.

"They seem more like Wealth’s parent than us," Kenny Lin communicated to Amalia with a self-aware tone.

"What if they suddenly reveal their true forms and kill us if they find out we usually either beat or scold Wealth?"

Amalia glanced at him blankly, "Please don’t include ’us.’ We’re not the same."

"We’re an old married couple; we’ve done everything we should and shouldn’t have done, so why the distinction?"

"Do you believe I can quickly make you a single dog again?" Amalia laughed.

Kenny Lin fell silent for a moment. "I was just joking. You said you loved me before."

Amalia chuckled, "Love and indulgence are two different things."

"Alright, I’ll concede that you have a point." Kenny Lin had a bright smile on his face.

While they were ’flirting,’ Zhar’khaen and Vryss’laar were also whispering secretly.

"The human who placed the seal on the cub is a powerful person; their strength is definitely not weak. Without them, our cub might not have made it this far. I didn’t expect these two humans to be so weak, yet their background is quite impressive."

"I realized that at the time, which is why I didn’t let you act."

"However, the bloodline within this little cub seems mixed. What kind of species is the Lumina Scale Komodo? The bloodline doesn’t seem very strong," Vryss’laar said with a hint of disdain.

"It’s not strong, but finding a little cub is already quite good. We can only wait and see how much potential is revealed when the bloodline is activated."

"True, but I’m worried that once the bloodline is activated, it won’t be beneficial. After all, its current form is a Lumina Scale Komodo, and the bloodline of Pixiu might be rather thin. I wonder if it can activate that kind of bloodline..."

After their examination, Vryss’laar felt a bit disappointed, but still held onto a shred of hope.

"Don’t hold too much hope; pure-blooded Pixiu haven’t been seen for thousands of years. Even back then, when we had more clan members, we couldn’t find a single one," Zhar’khaen frowned, having already given up hope. He only wished for the best and that it wouldn’t be too disappointing.

"But..." Vryss’laar was still somewhat unwilling to accept defeat. "Before the elder died, they mentioned a rumor in our clan that the Beast God would revive again. What if?"

"That was thousands of years ago. We were still young back then. Now, Pixiu clan has only the four of us left, and we’re on the brink of extinction. Do you see the Beast God revived?" Zhar’khaen didn’t want to discourage him; he just feared that Vryss’laar would have too much hope and end up facing an even greater blow.

Vryss’laar sighed regretfully.

"Alright, the urgent matter is that we return to the forbidden land and then solve the issues with the cub, nurturing it until it grow up." Zhar’khaen comfortingly patted his shoulder.

Amalia approached after he finished speaking, "Is there any problem with Wealth? Is he normal like this now?"

Upon hearing her concern for the cub, both Vryss’laar and Zhar’khaen were smiling gently.

"Although it is a bit unusual and not quite what we expected, as long as we return to the forbidden land, nothing will go wrong."
