Chapter 75: Bad Feeling

Her thought process disrupted, and Amalia went to answer the door and found Kenny Lin standing there.

"Anything you need?" Amalia inquired.

"I sensed a spiritual energy fluctuation just now. Failed in crafting an artifact?" Kenny Lin smiled gently, asking her casual tone.

Amalia gave him an extra look. This guys instantly knew it was a failed artifact just from a spiritual energy fluctuation. Who was this person?

"How did you know for certain it was a failed artifact, not a successful one?"

"Baby, Don’t tease me. The spiritual energy fluctuation for a failed and a successful crafting is different," Kenny Lin said.

The term "Baby" sent shivers down Amalia’s spine, make her face covered with black lines. She didn’t want to argue about that term, so she changed the topic. "Don’t call me Baby. How did you perceive such a subtle difference?"

Kenny Lin smiled without confirming or denying, "Oh, maybe because I’ve seen artificers crafting quite often before. Over time, I gained some insights."

Initially planning to end the conversation quickly, Amalia hesitated upon hearing this. Instead, she recounted the incident as if it were about "a friend" and asked, "Do you know what that sign could mean?"

"People related to you might be in trouble," Kenny Lin added jokingly, "Does that mean i’m going unlucky?"

Ignoring him, Amalia realized there weren’t many people directly associated with her. Disregarding the Rodriguez’s misfortunes, the more they suffered, the happier she felt.

That left only Carlos and Samuel. "Could something have happened to Samuel?"

"The person who came looking for you this morning?" Kenny Lin raised an eyebrow.

"He did look rather unlucky this morning."

Amalia immediately called Samuel, but there was no answer. She frowned, "Looks like something has indeed happened."

"Need any help?" Kenny Lin asked with a smile.

"What help can you offer?" Despite her words, Amalia didn’t really expect Kenny Lin to be of much help.

She pocketed her communicator and hastily left.

"Of course, I can," Kenny Lin’s words managed to stall Amalia’s stride.

Amalia slowed and turned back.

Kenny Lin grinned. "I have a hovercar, even though it was stolen."

Despite finding his smile somewhat punchable, Amalia managed to restrain herself.

A hovercar was indeed faster. Taking the airbus would only get her to nearby area; When she get there, she’d still need to locate people upon arrival, making it not possible to save Samuel in time.

"Let’s go."

...

Samuel underestimated the shamelessness of Yannis. When his car was hit, he recognized the fierce-looking driver on the other side and suspected he were likely sent by Yannis.

Samuel did not dare to stop. Without a word, he turned and drove away. The driver who hit him kept following him closely, further confirming his suspicion.

The car was hit again. Despite its sturdiness, it couldn’t withstand the successive impacts. The rear trunk even popped open.

"Damn," Samuel cursed.

He realized he had been careless. Knowing Yannis’s nature, he understood that he wouldn’t stop after he intercepting his plan. It would be useless to regret it now. So, he couldn’t let the other party take the artifact; otherwise, the Salvador would be doomed, and Amalia might be affected too.

Samuel quickly accessed the nearby map, and searching for the road with the most obstacles. Once he found the target, he planned to maneuver around using a circular obstacle.

But suddenly, a car descended from the sky and headed straight for his driver’s seat. In the nick of time, he switched to the passenger seat.

With a loud crash, Samuel’s car was wedged between the wall and the other car. The driver’s seat had deformed. If he hadn’t switched seats quickly, he’d be lying in a pool of blood by now.

His head knocked against the metal, momentarily dazing him. Finally regaining his senses, he understood what had happened.

The four-wheeler was driven by Sandro, and it was a shape-shifting hover car.

This type of hover car could travel on land, sea, and in the air. It was extremely expensive and nearly impossible to buy them without connection, it was rumored that there’s only three Hover car in the entire Big Apple City, and one of them was in Yannis’s possession.

He recognized the driver, he was one of Yannis’s trusted aides, ans a powerful individual.

Yannis sending him out indicated that he’s not afraid that he would know the perpetrator’s identity— it’s really arrogant.

As Sandro got out of the car and approached Samuel who was trapped in his vehicle, and he used a communicator to update Yannis about the situation.

Samuel vaguely heard Yannis’s excited and malicious voice.

"Nicely done. Once you find the artifact, keep him alive. Those who offend me, Yannis, I want them to live in more pain than death itself."

As Sandro put away the communicator and came to pull Samuel out of the deformed windshield, a voice interrupted their action.

"Who are you, and what are you doing?" It was a nearby security guard who, upon hearing the commotion, rushed over to check the situation, and noticing Sandro’s intentions toward the owner of the crashed car.

Sandro turned towards the security guard and cast an angry expression toward him. The security guard was startled by him, his legs shook, and a sudden regret dawned on him; it was oblovious that the situation in front of him is something that beyond the capacity of a mere security guard to stop.

"Get lost!"

The security guard promptly fled. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to help but rather he cherished his own life more.

A sense of powerlessness swept over Samuel. Was he going to meet his end here today? What about the Salvador? His biggest regret was involving Amalia, and dragging her into this mess.

A strong feeling of indignation surged within him.

Why, as a spirit cultivator, did he succumb to this situation? He act like an old lady and let others to take advantage of him? This wasn’t how it was supposed to be.

Sandro pulled the injured Samuel from the passenger seat, and took off the necklace from his neck, but failed to find what he sought. He then shook Samuel forcefully. And said: "Where’s the artifact?"

Ever since Samuel discovered Yannis’s intentions, he had prepared in advance. Faced with Sandro’s interrogation, he kept his mouth shut, and refuse to utter a single word.

"If you hand over the artifact, I might spare your life. Our Young Master has ordered to not leave anyone alive," Sandro threatened.

Mockingly, Samuel replied, "Since Yannis has ordered that, you won’t spare me even if I speak. The moment I reveal it, I won’t survive. Not speaking might keep me alive."

"Young Master Salvador understand it quite well. Since you know, you must also comprehend that your silence will result in a fate worse than death," Sandro sneered.

Samuel fell silent.

Not wanting to waste too much time, Sandro, fearing the arrival of more people, grabbed Samuel’s neck menacingly. "I don’t have time to waste with you. If you don’t speak, I’ll break your limbs!"

If there’s no a trail of black smoke emerged from behind a building, Amalia might have missed this scene. She had instructed Kenny Lin to check it out. When he turning to the corner, he witnessed Samuel being choked by a burly man, his face covered in blood, and he look like injured.

"Wait here," Amalia immediately opened the car door, and attempting to get out from the car but she was stopped by Kenny Lin.

"With your current strength, you’re no match for that person. Let me handle it."

Amalia couldn’t gauge the opponent’s strength, but she didn’t want to trouble Kenny Lin further. So, she freed herself from his grasp. and said: "When i choose this path, I’ve prepared myself to confront all powerful ones."

A glint of admiration flickered in Kenny Lin’s eyes as he watched her step out from the car and approach behind Sandro.

Just when he thought Amalia might foolishly shout ’stop’ like those characters in TV dramas and give the enemy time to react, her subsequenct actions left him in awe, and her neat attack reflected in his widened eyes.

Sandro was caught off guard by the sudden attack and his grip on Samuel’s neck was loosened. Amalia didn’t immediately approach Sandro but didn’t give him time to catch his breath either. Swiftly, she dashed forward with remarkable agility.

Perhaps her strength wasn’t on par with Sandro’s, and her physique wasn’t as strong as him, but her agility was exceptional. Especially when she delivering a fatal blow to kill people in one hit. This can be seen from her body movements.

Originally, despite being more powerful, Sandro was forced into a situation where he couldn’t even bring out his artifact and was swiftly struck from behind by Amalia’s fatal blow that aiming at his throat.

The Blood, under pressure, sprayed out, a few drops landing perfectly on Amalia’s face, enhancing her fair and beautiful features with a stunning crimson hue.

Kenny Lin couldn’t take his eyes off Amalia. As if a drop of vivid blood had melted in his eyes, spreading swiftly, and finally vanishing into darkness.

He had assumed Amalia was merely a highly talented genius artiticer, but he didn’t expexct he had underestimated her. Her skills were not inferior to a spirit cultivator.

Kenny Lin’s fingers twitched, feeling oddly restless.

"Are you okay?" Amalia wiped the blood off the dagger. The dagger was an artifact that used for self-defense, and this was the first time she using it.
