Chapter 72: What Kind Of Rubbish Did You Repair For Me?

In order to show his sincerity, Samuel directly went to Mikel’s residence. After confirming his identity, the servants finally allowed him in.

"How did you know that Mikel was going to repair the artifact?" Hubert, Mikel’s ’spokesperson,’ stared sharply at Samuel. Although he was young, he was almost as tall as Samuel.

Samuel didn’t want to treat them as mere kids. He straightforwardly answered, "I was nearby when Young Master Sabate spoke with Yannis. So, that’s when I heard about it."

"You came here on your own, wanting to introduce an artificer to us?" Hubert’s face revealed a hint of disdain.

"Do you think this place is where any artificer can be brought in?"

Samuel thought of Amalia’s confident demeanor for a moment and smiled, "Of course not. The artificer I’m introducing to Young Master Sabate is not just any random person you’d find on the street. Her surname is Vanquez. I wonder if you and Young Master Sabate have heard about her name? Every artifact she has repaired received excellent reviews from the customers."

The artificer with the surname Vanquez, wasn’t that the same person he mentioned to Mikel this morning? Are they the same person?

Hubert suddenly remembered and looked at Mikel, who also seemed a bit surprised.

"It’s actually her."

Samuel was momentarily taken aback. Had they already heard about Sister Amalia’s name? Then he quickly understood. Sister Amalia had indeed gained some reputation among the wealthy second generation in Big Apple City in the past few days.

"Since you managed to find your way here, you should know that Yannis has already helped me locate the renowned artificer in the Big Apple City, Master Juan. What advantage does she have over Master Juan that would make me switch to her?" Mikel sat on the couch, while looking up at Samuel with his delicate features.

The child nurtured in a large family was indeed different. Samuel could sense the noble and overbearing aura coming from every action of his. Fortunately, he wasn’t someone from the common folks who hadn’t seen much of the world.

"No matter how much you say, it won’t be persuasive without experiencing it personally. I’m not asking the young master to replace Master Juan right now. I just hope that if Master Juan can’t fix the artifact for the young master, he can give me a chance to recommend her. If there are any issues afterwards, I’m willing to take full responsibility," Samuel explained.

"Can you handle it if something goes wrong?" Hubert asked.

Suddenly, Mikel interjected, "I can give you this opportunity. After a while, Yannis and Master Juan will be here. You can stay and witness it for yourself."

They thought they might see Samuel in a nervous or panicked state. After all, going head-to-head with Yannis would likely offend him. It was a matter of whether recommending a friend or avoiding the wrath of Yannis was more immportant.

However, Samuel didn’t seem conflicted between the two options as they had expected. He calmly accepted the proposal.

At two o’clock in the afternoon, Yannis and Master Juan arrived punctually.

Escorted by the servants, they entered the living room. Yannis’s smile froze upon seeing Samuel’s figure, and a cold shadow overtook his expression. Why was he’s here?

"What’s wrong, Young Master Yannis? You seem a bit off," Master Juan noticed his strange behavior.

"It’s nothing, just saw an ’acquaintance,’" Yannis forced a smile, now tinged with a bit of chilliness: Samuel, Samuel, I’d like to see what tricks you can play.

Approaching Mikel, Yannis pretended to show a faint concern, "Isn’t this Young Master Samuel? Why is he here?"

Master Juan didn’t suspect his intentions. He just assuming Yannis didn’t want others to see their interaction with Mikel.

"As for him, let’s not mind him for now. Where’s my artifact?" Mikel impatiently waved, and getting straight to the point.

Yannis didn’t dare show his internal unease, and said with smile, "Naturally, I won’t disappoint the young master."

Samuel’s heart skipped a beat. Could they have really fixed it?

"Young Master Sabate, please take a look," Master Juan took out the repaired artifact and handed it to Hubert.

Hubert held the repaired artifact out to Mikel. "Mikel, take a look."

Mikel ran his hand over the artifact but remained silent. When his finger touched a certain part at the top, his face abruptly changed. He picked up the artifact and hurled it towards Master Juan’s feet, it was rolling a few circles before stopping.

"What kind of rubbish did you repair for me?" Mikel glared at Master Juan, resembling an irritated little lion.

Master Juan was completely dumbfounded. He had been confident before, even thinking it was the best artifact he had repaired. Yet, in less than a minute, Mikel exploded. He couldn’t figure out what went wrong.

"Young Master Sabate, please calm down. What’s the issue with the artifact repaired by Master Juan?"

Yannis was also somewhat nervous. If he offending Mikel due to this matter, it would not be a good outcome. The priority was to understand where the problem lay.

"Hubert, tell them I’m not in the mood to say another word to them." Mikel was furious, rolling his eyes at Yannis and Master Juan, making them even more uneasy, they are standing there in an uncomfortable state.

The two had no choice but to turn to Hubert for help.

As a close friend of Mikel since childhood, Hubert know him very well even he doesn’t say anything. In situations like this, it was not that easy to please Mikel.

"Idiot, we agreed that the artifact had to be identical to the original. The original blueprint were already sent to you. How come this artifact is nowhere near the original?" Hubert’s scolding was loud and fierce.

Yannis also had reviewed the original blueprint of the artifact and then observed the repaired one by Master Juan. To him, they were nearly indistinguishable. But the reactions of Mikel and Hubert suggested otherwise.

"Master Juan, is there really something different?" Yannis had to ask Master Juan.

Master Juan was almost ashamed by Hubert’s straightforward remarks. As the artificer, he knew the differences between the artifact and the original. But to him, those differences didn’t matter much.

"Young Master Sabate, Mr. Hubert, take another look. The difference between this artifact and the original is just this small mark. Everything else is the same and doesn’t affect the functionality. It’s just that this mark’s placement is coincidental. If you wish to repair the artifact, that mark needs to be erased first. I’ve already tried to restore it as much as I could," Master Juan explained while holding the artifact, attempting to reason with Mikel.

Hubert sneered, "So, your so-called restoration is a twisted, unrecognizable mark?"

Samuel didn’t know what they referred to as the mark. Fortunately, he wasn’t far away. After staring at the artifact for a while, he noticed a mark near the handle, and it looked like it has been elongated and flattened, making it impossible to recognize.

Master Juan blushed, "Because I added new material, the area before the handle slightly expanded, and compressing the space intended for the mark. If Young Master Sabate doesn’t like it, I can remove the mark."

Mikel snorted coldly.

Hubert said, "Mikel hasn’t held you accountable yet. You promised it would be identical. However, not only is the mark on the artifact twisted, but the body of the artifact has also enlarged. If your promise its just like this, there’s no need for you to come back. Luckily, Mikel used another artifact to test you, and as expected, Master Juan’s skills are questionable."

"What! That artifact was just a test to test my skills?" Master Juan’s face drastically changed. In this situation, doesn’t that it meant he had failed fhe test and Mikel wouldn’t entrust the real artifact for repair to him?

Yannis evidently recognized the gravity of the situation and hastily explained, "Young Master Sabate, Master Juan genuinely has the capability. Besides the different mark and slight enlargement in a certain part of the artifact, the functionality remains undiminished. At least this requirement has been met. It proves Master Juan’s skills."

"Enough, stop making excuses. Since you can’t meet our requirements, then leave. Given that you haven’t met our standards, you won’t get paid," Hubert said impatiently, in a somewhat domineering manner.

"Young Master Sabate, please give Master Juan another chance. In the last three days, he had searched everywhere for materials to repair this artifact. He confined himself in his room, disregarding food and drink, solely focusing on fixing the artifact. He just cares too much about the artifact’s functionality, which led to overlooking the artifact body. Please grant him another opportunity. I assure you that Master Juan will definitely provide a satisfactory answer," Yannis pleaded. He realized that his alignment with Master Juan was now at risk.

If Mikel rejected Master Juan, as the one who recommended him, he wouldn’t get any benefit. He had planned to establish a connection with Mikel and then leverage it to gain favor with his father. But things couldn’t end this way.

"Young Master Sabate, it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have followed my own thoughts. Please, grant me one more chance. This time, I promise not to disappoint you," Master Juan lowered his once proud head.

He silently vowing to become the top artificer in Fruit Country in the future so he doesnt need to bowing his head anymore.

Mikel sneered, "If everyone were like you, would I have to give everyone a second chance too? In my book, there’s only one chance."

"You’ve seen him?"

Mikel pointed at Samuel.

Yannis only just remembered that Samuel was still present. He could clearly see how he had groveled just now, and his eyes were instantly filled with a gloomy look.

"He’s also here to recommend an artificer to me. I’ve already given you a chance, and since you cannot satisfy me, I will have to replace you. Hubert, please escort our guests out."

"Please, follow me," Hubert walked up to the two individuals.
