Chapter 70: Goodnight

In the next two days, Kenny Lin seemed preoccupied and didn’t accompany Amalia like he did on the first day.

One morning, Santiago visited Amalia’s stall again. This time, he introduced a few friends to him.

However, his friends seemed hesitant and didn’t quite trust Amalia’s abilities, especially upon seeing her appearance, which they saw as somewhat very beautiful..

"Hey, do you think Santiago bring us here because he’s attracted to this pretty face and wants to show off in front of her with our visit?" The young man with dyed yellow hair whispered to Youssef while Santiago was talking to Amalia.

"Absolutely, you’ve never seen Santiago being so enthusiastic. If there’s no trickery, I’ll eat the artifacts," Youssef agreed, confirming his suspicion that Santiago had some ulterior motives.

"Do we really have to hand over our artifacts to her for repairs?" The yellow-haired guy was very suspicious, "I don’t want to entrust my artifact to someone I can’t trust."

"I was going to find a reliable artificer for my sister’s artifact. But then, Santiago found out about it and dragged me here," Youssef lamented.

"You guys! What are you waiting for? Get over here!" Santiago called them over loudly after concluding his conversation with Amalia.

Both of them reluctantly walked over.

"Santiago, can she really fix our artifacts? She look so young." The yellow-haired guy looked suspicious and pointed to the three stall owners. He was quite blunt, and said: "I think giving our artifacts to them for repair seems more reliable than giving it to her."

"I’ve told you, my artifact was fixed by her. Why would I lie to you?" Santiago showed an expression of disbelief.

Amalia who was accused of lacking the ability, remained calm.

The yellow-haired guy looked at Amalia’s flawless face and muttered, "Who knows if you’re just seduced by the beauty..."

Just as he finished speaking, he noticed Amalia’s eyes staring calmly at him, causing a strange, uneasy feeling. He wondered why he felt uneasy because of a mere gaze.

"Uh... Santiago, look!" Youssef suddenly nudged Santiago.

"Why..." Santiago’s words halted. His face suddenly went blank.

A man, dressed in black and exuding an exceptional charm, strolled along the street. His presence seemed to silence the surroundings, and the fallen leaves on the ground appeared as if laid out as a carpet for his passage.

It wasn’t that he has some kind interest in man, but he had to admit the black-clad man was indeed very attractive.

The extraordinarily handsome man, walking towards Amalia, said, "I’m back. Did you miss me?"

"Not really," Amalia averted her gaze from his face, calmly responding.

Kenny Lin also didn’t linger, quietly moving behind her, leaning against the wall, and pulling down his cap, concealing his face from view.

"Alright, alright, don’t waste her time. Bring out your artifacts, won’t you?" Santiago gave the yellow-haired guy’s head a pat. Without him, the yellow-haired guy wouldn’t have lost face.

The yellow-haired guy reluctantly presented the artifact, "Since Santiago admires you so much, don’t disappoint us or ruin your reputation."

The yellow-haired guy’s artifact wasn’t a bigt issue, it was just a formation-type artifact. There were a total of five, with one acting as the central formation core, and the remaining four couldn’t function without it.

Amalian inspected it and remarked, "Even if I fix this artifact, it won’t be able to unleash its full power anymore. The formations set up using this as the core will also be severely compromised."

"How did you know this is a core formation?" the yellow-haired guy asked, astonished.

Indeed, Santiago and Youssef were also quite surprised since the yellow-haired guy had never mentioned that his artifact was the central core of a formation.

Amalia glanced at them, "I could tell." It didn’t seem so unusual to her.

the yellow-haired guy finally started to believe in Amalia’s abilities and nervously asked, "What should I do then? I can’t just destroy one and throw away the other four artifacts."

He couldn’t bear to discard this expensive set of formations.

"There’s still a way," Amalia said.

"What way? Money is not an issue," The yellow-haired guy was anxious to know more.

Amalia stated, "Add an extra million."

The yellow-haired guy, Santiago, and Youssef: "..."

Kenny Lin: "Haha."

Amalia turned to glance at him. She had assumed that Kenny Lin had been meditating with closed eyes during the days he spent behind her. He had been quietly practicing the entire time.

"Adding more?" the yellow-haired guy rubbed his forehead, feeling unsure. Suddenly, he started to doubt whether he had placed his trust in the right person regarding the money matter.

"I need to prepare some materials. Come back tomorrow to collect it," Amalia turned back to say. Finding materials for the artifact wasn’t an easy task.

The yellow-haired guy hesitated. He felt that the other party wouldn’t be greedy enough to snatch one of his artifacts. Losing business just to make more money seemed unlikely. "Okay, I’ll come back at the same time tomorrow."

Under Santiago’s insistence, Youssef also handed Amalia an intermediate level whip, a whip used by many women as a weapon.

Amalia had repaired more than ten whips, and while this one was of good quality, it had a small crack in the middle. Another impact of the same force would split it into two, making the repair more challenging.

Amalia had repaired snapped whips before, but they were basic level artifacts. However, dealing with an intermediate level whip posed no real challenge for her.

Choosing the appropriate materials, removing impurities, and integrating them into a coherent form wasn’t a mainstream method practiced by most artificers.

In simpler terms, it involved refining a harder material to fill the crack in the whip, albeit the exterior wouldn’t look aesthetically pleasing.

Although Amalia accurately identified the yellow-haired guy’s artifact as a core formation, Youssef was still doubtful about her sister’s artifact.

He dared not take any risks with his sister’s artifact, silently waiting for Amalia to make a mistake. However, the subsequent steps diverged significantly from his expectations.

When he snapped out of his daze, Amalia had already repaired the crack, seamlessly, with perfect alignment, even without the original picture before the whip was damaged.

"See, I was right, wasn’t I?" Santiago boasted, reveling in his friend’s stunned expression.

When Youssef was certain that the artifact’s issue had completely disappeared, he openly acknowledged his approval, "Hmm, it’s genuinely beyond my expectations. You were right, Santiago. Amalia’s skills are truly impressive. My sister will surely be very pleased!"

Amalia interjected, "Fifty thousand for the repair."

Although Amalia’s words interrupted the atmosphere, it didn’t halt Youssef’s enthusiasm. Amalia’s appreciation for money only meant more benefits for them, as they had plenty of it.

Upon returning, Youssef also joined in the praise for Amalia, and adding one more person to the list after the yellow-haired guy retrieved his artifact.

Initially, many within their circle didn’t believe her, but now, they all do. Some approached Amalia to repair their artifacts, further validating the words of the three. Gradually, Amalia’s reputation began spreading among the upper circles in Big Apple City. This, however, happened later.

While heading home after closing the stall at night, Kenny Lin walked alongside him.

"Your repair techniques remind me of someone," Kenny Lin said.

"Who?" Having been accompanied by him for so many days, Amalia hadn’t treated him with a cold attitude like before.

"Laurencio Kirilova," Kenny Lin replied.

Amalia stopped in his tracks. The name was unfamiliar yet somehow recognized from the memories of the original owner. "The dean of Heavenly Path University?"

Kenny Lin said, "With your talent, he’s completely deserving for being your master."

Thinking he misheard, Amalia asked, "What did you say?"

Kenny Lin calmly repeated himself as if he had just taken a sip of water.

Amalia deeply looked at him. Despite his handsome appearance, he assumed there might be a problem with his thought process.

Even hough she was quiet confident with her skill but she had heard that Laurencio Kirilova was the best artificer in Fruit Country, and many prople aspired to be his apprentices.

Upon returning to the apartment, Amalia, for the first time, she bid him goodnight.

Kenny Lin watched as she closed the door and then returned to his own apartment. Meanwhile, he took out the communicator, which he had carried for the first time, flipping through the hundreds of new messages with keen interest, looking as though he were reading not text messages but a series of small novellas.

...

Inside Mikel’s villa.

"Who are you talking to, Hubert?" Mikel asked lazily as he went downstairs to find something to eat. He noticed that Hubert had been on the phone for an hour and was still in conversation.

Hubert turned around, signaling for quiet, and continued the conversation with someone on the communicator. After a few more sentences, he ended the call and excitedly ran over to Mikel. "Mikel, you asked whom I was talking to? I was talking to someone named Youssef."

"Youssef? I don’t know him." Mikel showed a disinterested expression. He had almost grown mold waiting for his artifact.

"If I knew, I wouldn’t have given him three days."

"In the circle of Big Apple City’s second-generation rich, there’s been talk about a person rumored to be very skilled in repairing artifacts. This Youssef is one of three people who have had their artifacts fixed by that person. And two others are also said to have had their artifacts repaired by the same individual. However, I thought it’s unlikely that this is all a setup," Hubert explained.
