Chapter 670: Treacherous Wolf (Part 1)
Ajit Wan didn’t realize that if this person killed the devils, it would be equivalent to saving his life.
Instead of being grateful, he was already planning to turn against them, showing no more loyalty than a treacherous wolf.
Amalia kept her eyes on the person they saved, watching for any change in expression.
No matter how well he thought he was hiding his intentions, nothing could escape her eyes.
"I told you there was no need to intervene. This person isn’t the type of person who likes to show gratitude. Isn’t human nature fascinating? It can’t withstand the slightest test," Kenny Lin said with a laugh.
It was his sword strike that had intervened.
He had no goodwill towards Artifact Refining Valley or any other factions.
If they all died, it would suit him just fine.
Amalia remained calm.
The earlier remark was likely prompted by her.
They didn’t necessarily need to take a large share; it was just to test if Ajit Wan was worth saving.
Unexpectedly, he failed the test, immediately revealing his true colors, unlike the disciples of Eternal One Sect they had first encountered in the devil battlefield, who were much more resilient.
"Still going to save him?" Kenny Lin asked, grinning.
Amalia didn’t hesitate much, "Yes, if he has a communication jade slip, we might already be exposed."
"Such a treacherous wolf," Kenny Lin continued to smile.
Amalia glanced at him, recognizing his schadenfreude, "There’s no rush."
He then squinted his eyes, "Besides, haven’t you already thought of something?"
"You saw through that too," Kenny Lin laughed heartily.
"I’m not stupid," Amalia’s gaze shifted to the devils.
His previous attack could have easily killed the devil, but he didn’t.
Anyone could see he did it on purpose.
"No one understands me like my fiancée does," Kenny Lin said intentionally.
If he had killed the devil with one strike and scared off the other three young devils, it would have been much less fun.
"If you keep talking, they’ll run away," Amalia, knowing his devious mind, reminded him.
"They can’t run. As long as the spiritual pool is here, they can’t escape," Kenny Lin laughed loudly, flying out from their hiding place.
Five figures in the air fixed their eyes on him.
Ajit Wan harbored discontent in her heart but dared not show it.
He feigned surprise and joy as he looked at him.
But when Kenny Lin’s face was fully revealed, Ajit Wan couldn’t hide his astonishment.
"It’s you!"
"Of course, it’s me," Kenny Lin smirked.
He was the one who mocked Elder Zeng outside the Double Cavern Secret Realm just yesterday.
The disciples of Artifact Refining Valley couldn’t forget that.
To them, the Green Lotus Sect and Eternal One Sect were treated similarly.
These two sects were different from other sects; they rarely needed anything from Artifact Refining Valley because they had their own Artificers.
To the people of Artifact Refining Valley, their Artificers were the best on Mystic Void Continent.
They had reason to be proud and often looked down on other Artificers.
Especially the Artificers of the Green Lotus Sect, whom they particularly despised.
The Green Lotus Sect was powerful, and with its Artificer Peak, it was almost self-sufficient and never needed to seek their help.
When Amalia saw the expression of Ajit Wan, she knew he recognized Kenny Lin.
The fleeting look of disgust that followed his initial surprise didn’t escape her keen observation.
As Kenny Lin had mentioned, human nature indeed couldn’t withstand scrutiny.
"Why, you seem to dislike me quite a bit?"
At this moment, Kenny Lin’s mischievous side emerged, and he stared at Ajit Wan with great interest.
"No, of course not," the youth hurriedly lowered his gaze.
He couldn’t let his true thoughts be seen.
The signal had been sent out for a while now, yet no one had come to their aid.
He couldn’t afford to wait any longer.
His only option now was to rely on this person, despite being the disciple of the sect he despised most.
"Thank you, Junior Brother, for coming to my rescue. May I ask your name? If we can escape this peril, I will surely repay you generously," Ajit Wan said, his face lighting up with a forced smile.
Unfortunately, it seemed a bit late to start acting now.
Repay generously or repay treachery?
Kenny Lin’s mind was as clear as a mirror, but he didn’t expose the other’s intentions.
Amalia watched him, having a good idea of what he was thinking.
It was rare for him to find someone willing to indulge his dramatic tendencies, and now his inner drama enthusiast was awakened.
"My surname is Taffy, and my name is Tangy. Whether we can escape depends on these people, so don’t thank me just yet," Kenny Lin said with a smile, his eyes turning to the four young devils, particularly focusing on their leader, Erod.
"When I arrived, I heard you say you wanted to kill all the human prodigies. Though I may not be a prodigy myself, I’m still a genius and willing to challenge you. Let’s see if you kill me or I kill you."
Erod originally watched him warily.
The spiritual pool was here, and they wouldn’t abandon the benefit soon to be in their grasp just because someone injured their comrades with one strike and fled.
It wasn’t just because there was only one of him.
If it weren’t for his sneak attack, Tilmerol wouldn’t have been seriously injured.
"Tangy Taffy?" Erod squinted his eyes, "I don’t care who you are. For daring to wound my comrade, today will be your death day."
"Such big talk. You are overly confident in yourself," Kenny Lin said with a frown, appearing supremely confident yet occasionally glancing around furtively.
Seeing this, Erod sneered.
Did the other really think he could be fooled so easily?
Since he enjoyed acting so much, Erod would play along to the end.
After all, killing one more human genius meant more credit for him.
