Chapter 669: The Devils Is Coming (Part 2)
His expression wavered between defiance and fear.
"You have no choice. If you refuse, we can still torment you slowly. We won’t let you die easily," the young devil leader said, squinting his eyes, savoring the fear on his face.
"Kill me, and others will hunt you down!" He spat through gritted teeth.
The young devil leader, seeing his defiant expression, burst into laughter.
He had thought this young human cultivator had more backbone, but he was already so frightened.
His arrogant laughter echoed through half the valley.
"It seems you’re quite afraid of death too," another young devil laughed, "I thought you were braver. Human prodigies are not much after all."
"Who told you I was a prodigy? The true human prodigies are far more powerful than me. If they were here, you wouldn’t stand a chance against them," He suddenly retorted loudly.
"Oh really? I’ve long wanted to challenge a human prodigy to see if the devil prodigies or the human ones who are stronger," the young devil leader said, his squinting eyes revealing a fierce and arrogant confidence.
"Erod is a devil prodigy. No human prodigy can compare to him," several devils began to flatter the young devil leader.
"Exactly, if this human can enter the Double Cavern Secret Realm, it means he’s quite talented. But even he couldn’t withstand a few moves from you, Erod. Human prodigies must not be that great."
The devils conveniently ignored the fact that the young man with the surname Wan had previously fought fiercely against the Black Star Beast.
If he hadn’t summoned that small golden sword, he might still have a chance to fight this devil prodigy, Erod.
Erod raised his chin slightly with a look of satisfaction on his face.
He enjoyed the flattery and, after a moment, waved his hand, "Enough with the compliments. Human prodigies are nothing. I can kill any that comes my way. My true rivals are Nith and the others."
"Erod is right. Human prodigies are nothing. We can easily play them to death."
"I wonder where Lord Nith and the others are now. Before, at the entrance of the Double Cavern Secret Realm, Lord Nith said they were going to hunt human prodigies and see who could hunt more."
"If the strength of the human cultivators entering the Double Cavern Secret Realm is all like this, then a single prodigy from our devil clan should be able to kill them all."
As they continued their conversation, Erod sneered, "These human cultivators better not get killed by Nith and the others too quickly. There are still over twenty days left. If all the humans die, it would be too boring. I still want to kill a few more for fun."
The devils burst into laughter, their voices grating.
The young man with the surname Wan’s face was deathly pale.
He saw that they were ignoring him and chatting among themselves, even mentioning someone named Lord Nith.
This devil, Erod, considered Nith as his rival, indicating they were equally powerful.
Thinking this, he couldn’t help but sneer.
Erod, who had been watching him closely, immediately noticed and his face darkened, "What are you laughing at?"
"I’m laughing at how ignorant you are," He bared his blood-stained teeth, "You think I represent all human young cultivators? I, Ajit Wan, know my own limits. There are those I can’t compare to."
"Like who?" Erod’s face grew even darker.
"Like my senior brother. His strength surpasses mine. If he were here, none of you would be a match for him," Ajit Wan said, feeling a sense of pride as he saw Erod’s sour expression.
"Is that so? Too bad your senior brother can’t save you," Erod took a step forward, his eyes gleaming with malice.
Just as he was about to attack him, Ajit Wan threw his head back and laughed.
Suddenly, a beam of light shot into the sky, exploding into brilliance.
Erod tried to stop it, but it was too late.
"Haha, you’re all dead! I’ve sent out a signal. Anyone nearby will see it and come quickly. Even if you kill me, you won’t have an easy time. You think you can just take the spiritual pool? Dream on!" Ajit Wan’s eyes flashed with fierce determination, ready to take them all down with him.
"Damned fool! Kill him!" Erod roared in fury.
Knowing he wouldn’t survive, Ajit Wan ready to do self-destruct.
However, suddenly, his expression changed.
It wasn’t just him; Erod’s face also shifted.
A sword light appeared abruptly.
The devil that was the closest to the sword light didn’t even have time to react before it pierced through his body, severely injuring him instantly.
"Who goes there!" Erod shouted angrily while staring at the direction where the sword light came from.
Was someone nearby?
Impossible.
If someone had been nearby, they would have noticed.
The intruder’s speed was astonishing, suggesting they had been hiding nearby all along.
"Fellow friends, I’m Ajit Wan from Artifact Refining Valley!"
Ajit Wan who is overjoyed by the unexpected turn of events, called out loudly for help.
He didn’t think as far ahead as Erod; he only knew he was saved.
"I’m here."
A voice echoed from all directions, seemingly from nowhere and everywhere at once.
Ajit Wan was stunned for a moment.
After understanding the voice, his face twisted in realization.
He wasn’t stupid; from that one sentence, he deduced that the person had been there all along, but they’re only watching as his fellow disciples were killed.
No, perhaps this person had been there even when they first started fighting the Black Star Beast.
They had not only refrained from helping but had hiding and most likely waiting to be the ones to benefit in the end.
Realizing this, a trace of hatred welled up in Ajit Wan’s heart, but he kept his face expressionless.
Lowering his gaze quickly, he responded, "Understood."
First, he needed to stabilize the situation.
Once this person or group dealt with the devils, he could wait for his senior brother to arrive and force them to return what they had taken.
No one noticed the flash of malice in Ajit Wan’s lowered eyes.
