Chapter 583: Master Lian (Part 3)

The Bulldrome let out a piercing, agonized scream and its pain driving it into a frenzy.

Amalia quickly backed away.

The Bulldrome who is unable to find its attacker, followed its instincts and charging toward the strongest presence it could sense.

Unfortunately for the white-robed man’s group, they were the chosen targets.

The young man, who had expected Amalia to be killed by the boar, was shocked.

Wasn’t she aiming for the golden ring?

After a few chaotic seconds, they managed to deal with the now-blind Bulldrome.

"Friend," the white-robed man sheathed his sword and approached Amalia.

"Stay where you are," Amalia ordered, stopping him in his tracks.

"What do you mean by that?" one of the young cultivators asked angrily.

"I should be asking you that. You claim to be his fellow disciples, but I see no evidence of that," Amalia replied while glancing at the injured man.

"What do you mean by that?" the white-robed man asked, frowning.

Amalia’s eyes narrowed slightly, "It seems to me you want him dead. The injuries on his body, weren’t they caused by you?"

"What right do you have to say that? If you ask me, you’re the one who harmed our Senior Brother. You said our Senior Sister went to gather spiritual herbs, but she hasn’t returned. Who knows if that’s even true? Hand over our Senior Brother, or don’t blame us for being rude!"

The young cultivator who is already displeased with Amalia, erupted in anger at her accusation.

"So quickly revealing your true colors? If you were truly his fellow disciples, why haven’t any of you shown concern for his injuries since you arrived? True comrades wouldn’t act like you," Amalia retorted.

Amalia’s expression remained calm; she didn’t panic despite facing several people from the other side.

"How did you figure it out?" the white-robed man asked calmly.

"Senior Brother," the three companions immediately called out.

The white-robed man raised his hand, "Haven’t you noticed how cautious she’s been with us?"

The three of them fell silent.

They had noticed it too but they weren’t sure about it, thinking it was just Amalia’s habit of being cautious.

"His injuries," Amalia explained, "The wound on his abdomen was indeed caused by a demonic beast, but the one on his back seems like it was inflicted by someone close to him. Given your recent behavior, I guessed it was you."

"You’re right, it was us," the white-robed man admitted readily, "But we have our own reasons why we doing that."

Amalia didn’t ask, knowing he would explain.

"The person you’re protecting is a monster," the white-robed man continued.

Amalia raised an eyebrow.

"Our Senior Brother has been possessed by an evil spirit. This kind of spirit will slowly takes over him, assimilate with him, and turning him into a true devil that hides among humans and eventually infecting many others. It’s almost incurable."

The white-robed man spoke solemnly.

"Our Senior Sister loves our Senior Brother, so she opposes us killing him. But if she continues, she will be taken over as well. We can’t just watch her die."

"What are the signs of being taken over?" Amalia asked.

From her calm expression, the white-robed man couldn’t tell if she believed him or not, so he answered truthfully, "A fully taken-over demon can’t use spiritual power."

"Given his current state, our Senior Brother has less than half a day before the possession is complete. He hasn’t fully turned yet."

"So you can’t actually proved whether he is being possessed or not, right?" Amalia said coolly.

The white-robed man frowned.

"If you still don’t believe us, what are you planning to do?" the white-robed man asked, sighing as if he was helpless.

"I don’t know if you’re waiting for Senior Brother to recover and confront you, but he’s the strongest among us. If he wakes up, none of us will be able to defeat him."

"We don’t need to wait for him to heal completely, we just need to let him wake up," Amalia said calmly.

"He’s so badly injured that it might be difficult for him to wake up anytime soon," the white-robed man replied.

Amalia walked to the injured man’s side, a dense green energy appearing in her palm.

As she transferred the energy into the injured man’s body, it was visibly evident that his wounds were slowly healing, especially those on his back and shoulders.

Amalia glanced up at them, "It won’t take long. I believe he will wake up soon and confront you."

"Do you really intend to save a devil?" the white-robed man asked.

"I never pass a death sentence on someone who can’t speak for themselves based on one side’s story. If he truly is a devil, I will save him and then kill him with my own hands," Amalia replied, her gaze steady and indifferent.

The white-robed man laughed, his demeanor suddenly changing as he drew his sword, "You are indeed clever. Even now, you remain cautious."

"Senior Brother is neither related to you by blood nor close to you. Why are you so determined to get involved? What’s in it for you?"

Amalia stood up, her back straight as a pine tree, "If what you say is true, then devils are humanity’s enemy. At this moment, with the enemy watching us like a hawk, are you suggesting we should fight among ourselves?"

"Fight among ourselves?" The white-robed man looked at her with a strange expression.

"Of course, if the enemy is someone possessed by a devil, that’s a different matter," Amalia raised the injured man’s sword and pointing it at them, "If I’m not mistaken, you are the ones possessed by the devils, aren’t you?"

"And how did you figure that out?" the white-robed man asked, not denying it, with a faint smile playing on his lips.

"When you said that cultivators possessed by devils can’t use spiritual power," Amalia’s eyes were filled with a strange intensity as she looked at them.

"Do you think I’m a fool? You actually revealed the method to identify you. When you were fighting off the surrounding monsters, I didn’t see you use any spiritual power. Every move you made was purely relying on physical power, you only use slashing and hacking. Look at your sword, it’s so damaged, yet you don’t seem to care for it at all." Amalia paused, "You’re the first devils I’ve ever encountered. I didn’t expect the devils to be so foolish."
