Chapter 582: Master Lian (Part 2)
"Even so, I can’t hand him over to you," Amalia said.
The white-robed man frowned, "Why not?"
"This young man is seriously injured and can’t be moved. Soon, a large number demonic beasts will be drawn here by the smell of blood. Since I gave my word to protect him, I must honor that promise. Since you are his fellow disciples, why don’t we all stay here and guard him together?" Amalia suggested while looking at each of them.
The white-robed man relaxed upon hearing this and cupped his hands in thanks, "Since you are so honorable, we thank you on behalf of our Senior Brother. As for the demonic beasts, leave them to us."
"That sounds good," Amalia agreed with a nod.
Before long, the anticipated demonic beasts appeared in droves.
"Just in time!" the white-robed man shouted while drawing his sword.
His sharp sword energy cut down the leading demonic beast in front of him one by one.
They positioned themselves to shield Amalia and the injured man, but the demonic beasts seemed quite intelligent, with several of them focusing their attacks on one person.
One of the young cultivators whose his face flushed with exertion, yelled, "Help! I can’t hold them off any longer!"
Just as he spoke, a demonic beast broke through his defense and lunged at Amalia.
Amalia had only a dagger, and it was made from inferior materials, making it difficult to pierce the demonic beast’s hide.
Her eyes caught sight of the injured man’s sword, and without hesitation, she grabbed it, wielding it like a knife.
With one swift slash, she broke through the demonic beast’s defense.
The opponent hesitated for a moment, and in that brief pause, two more demonic beasts broke through his defense.
Amalia’s eyes narrowed as she swiftly killed the two demonic beasts without hesitation.
Just then, the ground began to shake slightly.
"This is bad, a lot more demonic beasts are coming this way," the white-robed man suddenly shouted.
After killing the demonic beast in front of him, he rushed over to Amalia and bent down to pick up the injured man.
Amalia blocked him with her sword, "What are you doing?"
The white-robed man explained, "If we get surrounded by these demonic beasts, it’ll be hard to get out alive. We need to retreat immediately."
"I told you, your Senior Brother can’t be moved," Amalia said firmly.
"I remember, but we have no other choice now. We can only take a gamble. Our Senior Brother is strong; he will make it," the white-robed man insisted.
"That’s not certain. Besides, if we leave, how will the young woman find us when she returns with the spiritual herb?" Amalia asked.
The white-robed man replied without hesitation, "As long as our Senior Sister doesn’t find our Senior Brother’s body, she will look for us. Don’t worry, our sect has special signals. We’ll leave them along the way, and she will be able to follow."
"How about this? You hold off the demonic beasts a little longer, and I’ll treat your Senior Brother," Amalia suddenly suggested.
The white-robed man was taken aback.
After a moment, he asked, "You know how to heal?"
"I know a little bit. The urgent thing now is to stop the bleeding first, isn’t it?" Amalia responded calmly.
The white-robed man hesitated for a moment, then agreed "Alright, we’ll leave our Senior Brother to you and hold them off a bit longer."
Amalia smiled slightly, "Thank you."
"It’s no trouble. After all, this wasn’t your problem to begin with. We feel bad that you have to take this risk with us," the white-robed man said with a smile, then turned back to explain the situation to the others.
Amalia noticed their glances but ignored them.
If they hadn’t shown up, she would have already tried this.
Amalia sent a pure ball of energy to the injured man’s abdomen.
The bleeding slowed down significantly.
Seeing that it worked, she continued to send healing energy into him several more times.
"Senior Brother," a young cultivator called softly to the white-robed man upon witnessing this scene.
The white-robed man glanced at Amalia, his eyes seeming a little bit gloomy.
At that moment, another wave of demonic beasts that was drawn by the scent of blood, attacked.
Amalia was in the middle of treating the injured man when she suddenly felt a surge of malevolent energy and danger.
She looked up to see a demonic beast charging straight at her.
"This is bad! It’s the leader of the beasts. Everyone, be careful!" the white-robed man shouted in alarm.
The leader’s power was far beyond that of ordinary demonic beasts, appearing to be at the peak of the Foundation Building stage.
"Friend, we can’t hold out much longer. Be careful," the white-robed man warned.
The warning came a little bit too late.
With such a short distance, attempting to draw her sword might result in being knocked away.
Seeing that the injured man was no longer bleeding, Amalia scooped him up and dodged the demonic beast’s attack.
The demonic beast immediately chased after her.
"What are you all standing around for? Quickly, distract this demonic beast!" Amalia shouted.
"We can’t! There are too many demonic beasts, and we’re all tied up," the white-robed man replied, struggling as he faced four or five demonic beasts at once.
Amalia planted her feet firmly and placed the unconscious man in a corner.
She then drew her sword and charged forward.
The demonic beasts of the Mystic Void Continent were similar to mutated creatures on Earth, except for their size.
This particular demonic beast was called Bulldrome, it’s has a large nose that was pierced by a golden ring, and a ferocious, tusked face.
Amalia judged that the golden ring on its nose was likely the weak point of this demonic beast.
She swiftly moved in and stabbed her sword toward the weak spot on the Bulldrome.
Someone nearby snorted.
This wasn’t the first person who thought the golden ring was the beast’s weak point and everyone who believed that had ended up dead.
