Chapter 521: Sea Of Death (Part 12)
"No way, no way. Humans are treacherous. If they suddenly attack and harm the King, we’d become the traitors of the entire marine clan."
"You idiots, isn’t your King pretty powerful? My owner and her companion couldn’t possibly harm it. They just want to talk," Wealth said, exasperated.
"Even so, it’s not okay. Our King is indeed powerful. No human can compare to it."
"Then why is it still a problem if your King is so powerful?" Wealth asked.
The Pyrosplash chimed in, "Our King is suppressing that thing and doesn’t have the energy to deal with...
"Shut up!" the Abyssard hurriedly interrupted, "The King told us not to mention that thing to humans. Who gave you permission to speak?"
"Sorry, sorry, I spoke too quickly. Besides, it’s not a human," the Pyrosplash apologized hastily.
"But it’s allied with the humans," the Abyssard said sternly.
The Pyrosplash nodded, "Alright, I won’t say anything more."
"It’s too late for that. I’ve already heard everything. Isn’t it just a spatial rift? It’s not a secret anymore," Wealth said dismissively.
The two fish immediately turned to it, their expressions incredulous, "How do you know about that?"
"There are several spatial rifts above the Sea of Death. Such things don’t appear out of nowhere. There must be a larger rift somewhere. Your King can’t leave the sea, so it must be suppressing that thing," Wealth said proudly.
The two fish were stunned, realizing it had figured out most of the truth.
"Since you know, we won’t hide it anymore," the Pyrosplash said, looking relieved.
It had been wanting to share the burden, "Why should our King alone guard the spatial rift? If it keeps expanding and all the seawater drains away, the humans won’t survive either. Both sides have responsibilities and obligations."
It felt that the humans should share the burden and not leave it all to their King.
Hearing the Pyrosplash, Wealth turned back to Amalia and Kenny Lin, giving a thumbs-up to signal them that it had everything under control.
A few minutes later, the two Pyrosplash and Abyssard returned to their normal size.
Although they were still much larger than before they mutated, they were now about the size of an average adult human, no longer requiring people to look up at them.
"So, these high-level marine-type mutated creatures can change their size at will?" Amalia asked in surprise.
"High-level ones can. The only drawback is that they can’t speak human languages," Kenny Lin replied indifferently.
Amalia asked again, "What about that blue ring octopus that just left?"
"That one should be able to. The mutated creatures with high bloodline levels have better inheritances. Besides, if they’re smart, learning a human language shouldn’t be too difficult."
It seemed that the blue ring octopus didn’t communicate directly with them because it didn’t trust humans.
Amalia glanced at the Pyrosplash and Abyssard, who Kenny Lin had just subtly insulted for their lack of intelligence.
If they were smarter, they wouldn’t have been fooled by Wealth’s few words.
As they led the way, the Abyssard remained worried and frequently asking Wealth to ask Amalia if they were just going to take a look and whether the explosion they heard earlier had anything to do with them.
Wealth relayed the message to its owner, and Amalia understood its gestures.
"Tell them it has nothing to do with us, but we might know the people involved. Humans are often acquainted with each other, just like they are with other high-level marine-type mutated creatures."
Wealth conveyed her words almost verbatim.
"You’re amazing! Why can you understand human language?" the Pyrosplash asked in astonishment.
Wealth proudly puffed out its small chest, "Because I’m incredibly smart."
The Pyrosplash enviously said, "That’s great. I wish I could understand human language too, but unfortunately, I’m not that capable. My superior said I couldn’t learn it and gave up teaching me after a few months, saying I had no talent for it."
"You need someone to teach you? Isn’t it something you can just learn on your own?" Wealth said while glancing at the Pyrosplash with a smug look, full of self-satisfaction.
The Pyrosplash exclaimed, "You’re amazing! You actually learned it on your own. The Abyssard also learned from our superior for half a month, but it still can’t understand."
The Abyssard snapped, feeling defensive, "Just because I couldn’t learn it by myself doesn’t mean you have to bring me down. I’ve only been learning for half a month; of course, it takes time."
Wealth whose feeling proud from the praise, looked almost smug with satisfaction.
Amalia glanced at it, "Is what I just asked you to say that funny?"
"Don’t bother guessing. Your son probably bragging to them about something while promoting itself and put them down," Kenny Lin said with a knowing look.
Amalia turned her head to look at him, "You seem to speak from experience."
"Well..." Kenny Lin was about to nod but quickly caught himself, smirking, "Not experience, just keen observation."
"Sorry, but your son is a Lumina Scale Komodo, so that’s the only one you could observe," Amalia retorted.
Kenny Lin suddenly leaned close to her ear, whispering with a smile, "I can observe more than just your son. One day, sooner or later, I’ll know everything about you, inside and out."
Realizing he was making a suggestive comment, Amalia felt a flush rising to her cheeks but quickly stopped herself.
"Ck, I always be the one who make the first move everytime we kiss. So I’ll waiting," she said while smiling sweetly at him.
Kenny Lin huffed confidently, "As long as you promise not to hit me, I’ll do it."
"Fine, I won’t hit you, but I can’t promise I won’t knock you out," Amalia laughed.
"I knew it," Kenny Lin said with that same knowing look.
Amalia could only laugh.
Amid their playful banter, the group, along with the two fish, returned to the area near the Sea of Death.
The booming sound was now even clearer, and in the distance, they could see flashes of lightning and thunder.
"We need to check out the situation and make sure the humans don’t disturb the King," said the more rational Abyssard while pulling itself out of the friendly atmosphere with Wealth.
After speaking, it hurried ahead, and everyone quickly followed.
