Chapter 445: The Beginning Of The War (Part 13)
Wealth understood what she was asking, though it was somewhat reluctant.
After all, it was a Lumina Scale Komodo, not a mole.
"If you find anything, I’ll give you fifteen intermediate level crystal cores and five advanced level crystal cores later," she offered.
Wealth immediately held up three fingers.
"Alright, thirty crystal cores then," Amalia readily agreed.
Wealth immediately felt like it should have asked for more.
In hindsight, it should have held up another finger.
Sighing, it decided to be honorable and stick to the agreement.
It jumped out of Amalia’s arms and began sniffing the ground, heading in a specific direction.
Amalia followed it, moving through various pathways.
When Wealth increased its pace, she did the same.
Adjudant Calderón saw her running quickly and suspected she had made a discovery something, so he immediately ordered a small team of soldiers to follow her.
One minute later, Amalia and Wealth arrived at a familiar location.
She looked up and realized where they were.
"Isn’t this the treatment and recovery area for injured soldiers?" she thought with concern.
The area housed wounded soldiers and also some water-type and wood-type spiritual cultivators responsible for healing.
If something happened to them, it could be a major problem for the wounded soldiers who needed treatment.
"Miss Amalia, did you find anything?"
Adjudant Calderón asked as he caught up.
"I suspect that mutated creatures might emerge from somewhere within this area," Amalia immediately explained.
Adjudant Calderón took a sharp intake of breath.
He realized the same thing Amalia had.
"Let me go in with you," he said.
They hoped they were not too late.
Amalia didn’t refuse.
She quickly pushed back the curtain and walked in, greeted by a metallic scent of blood and the sound of wounded soldiers groaning from their beds.
Seeing this scene, Adjudant Calderón immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
It was good that nothing had happened yet.
A group of water-type and wood-type spiritual cultivators were urgently treating severely injured soldiers, completely unaware of the potential danger.
Adjudant Calderón glanced at Amalia with a questioning look.
Amalia looked to Wealth, who shook its head in one direction and then nodded affirmatively.
Amalia was certain of the threat.
"Adjudant Calderón, you need to evacuate this area immediately. I’m sure the mutated creatures will emerge from here," Amalia said urgently.
Adjudant Calderón took her words seriously, operating under the assumption that it was better to be safe than sorry.
He summoned two teams of soldiers to help evacuate those who were severely injured and couldn’t walk.
The injured soldiers didn’t know what was happening, but seeing Adjudant Calderón’s serious expression, they did not delay.
A few high-ranking officers asked for clarification.
Adjudant Calderón shared the situation with them, hoping they could help calm the other injured soldiers.
"We suspect that the mutated creatures have a backup plan and might start from this location."
The other officers immediately became serious and prepared for the worst.
Thanks to their help, the evacuation went smoothly.
Amalia followed Wealth to the rear yard of the treatment area.
This part of the area was rarely visited, especially during the ongoing battle when everyone was focused on the front lines.
This made the rear yard even less frequented.
Wealth stopped on the steps and jumped back into Amalia’s arms, pointing its paw at a corner of the rear yard.
Before Amalia could say anything, the ground in the rear yard suddenly cracked open, forming fissures that spread rapidly in all directions.
Half of the rear yard quickly crumbled before her eyes as the ground sank downward.
Two antennae of a mutated creature emerged from the opening.
Seeing the antennae, Amalia immediately recognized the mutated creature in her mind.
She finally understood the backup plan the high-level mutated creatures outside had prepared.
She quickly pulled out several amulets and hurled them into the collapsing pit without hesitation.
Amalia swiftly retreated, and then several explosions occurred.
The ground shook violently for a moment, and the remaining unbroken half of the rear yard was also destroyed by the explosions.
However, the effect was clear.
Adjudant Calderón heard the explosions and rushed over with his team, only to witness the scene.
A large crater had been blasted open in the rear yard.
At the bottom and along the edges of the crater lay the severed limbs of dozens of mutated creatures, along with splatters of blue blood everywhere.
"The Bronze Formanterror!"
Adjudant Calderón exclaimed in horror.
If there was one mutated creature they least wanted to encounter, the Bronze Formanterror would certainly be high on the list.
Though they were small in size, their combat power was extremely formidable.
They would eat anything, and the most terrifying part was that they preferred to eat spiritual cultivators, whether alive or dead.
On the battlefield, if the Bronze Formanterror appeared, there would be no remains left—usually, nothing but bones.
Moreover, when they ate the bodies of spiritual cultivators, the residual energy would be absorbed by them and converted into their own strength.
If Amalia had not discovered the threat and warned them ahead of time, it would have been a huge problem if these Bronze Formanterror had entered the city and spread in all directions.
The result would not only be the loss of many lives; if the Bronze Formanterror launched a surprise attack from behind, with the enemy at their front and the ants at their back, the hard-won advantage they had gained could crumble entirely.
At this moment, Adjudant Calderón felt an immense gratitude toward Amalia.
The soldiers who followed were also very thankful to her.
Just the sight of so many Bronze Formanterror corpses was enough to send chills down their spines.
"Everyone, stay vigilant; this isn’t over yet," Amalia cautioned loudly.
The ants below the ground were not limited to just a few dozen killed by the explosions; there were many more.
Amalia thought about throwing a few more offensive-type amulets down, but since they were within the city, she was worried about causing more structural damage and creating opportunities for more Bronze Formanterror to enter the city.
