Chapter 431: Prepare (Part 1)
A few officers passing by nearly stumbled at her comment.
Damn, who becomes a major by doing nothing?
Seeing it was Amalia, with Kenny Lin standing next to her, they quickly fell silent.
Once they left, someone finally spoke up.
"I’ve been here for three years, killed over a thousand mutated creatures, and only earned the rank of lieutenant."
"Three years? I’ve been here for five and am at the same rank as you."
The third officer said nothing, "You two dare to complain about that? Don’t you find it embarrassing?"
"What’s the point? Embarrassment doesn’t change anything."
The other two laughed it off.
"At least you have some self-awareness."
The two looked at their friend curiously, "Aren’t you bothered? You’ve earned more military merits than us, yet you’re only a captain."
The officer responded nonchalantly, "Why should I be bothered? If you two had advanced level healing techniques, would you hand them over without hesitation? I think a major’s rank is a fair exchange."
The other two fell silent.
They wouldn’t have.
Amalia did not know that the people outside were discussing her.
She told Kenny Lin that she would retreat for a while.
"What are you up to this time?" Kenny Lin closed his eyes slightly, his expression lazy.
"I want to refine spiritual artifacts. I destroyed so many before, and the siege battle is coming soon, so I need to prepare more."
Amalia looked at him and realized that he was just a figurehead.
Noww she understood why he never bothered with the military’s affairs in the past and had the freedom to wander around every day.
"If you’re feeling bored, why not go help your father and General Shen? You don’t need to stay with me. Breaking through and refining spiritual artifacts are different."
Kenny Lin did not argue. He only asked, "Are you sure?"
"Of course. If you want a particular kind of spiritual artifact, you can tell me." Amalia had been wanting to ask him something, "The sword you usually use, what level of spiritual artifact is it? Who crafted it?"
Kenny Lin said nothing.
He simply tossed the sword to her, "You can examine it by yourself."
The moment she held the long sword, a chilling sensation washed over her.
Amalia immediately concluded that cold iron must have been added during the refining process.
"As expected, it’s an advanced level spiritual artifact with four advanced level incriptions in it. Impressive! Very impressive! Only my mentor or Dean Kirilova who could possess such strength in Fruit Country, am I right?"
Amalia speculated and looked at him.
"Your insight is sharp, as expected from my dearest one."
Kenny Lin said with a playful smile.
Upon hearing the new tittle, which she had never heard before, Amalia asked curiously, "Where did you learn that?"
Kenny Lin dodged the question and hinted at something else, "Wealth has been watching modern dramas again lately."
Amalia understood immediately and decisively said, "Stop letting it watch them. This is the central disaster zone, not a villa. For the next month, ban it from watching dramas."
Having successfully pulled one over on his son, Kenny Lin asked deliberately, "No other dramas either?"
"No!"
Amalia handed the sword back to him, leaving him with just this one word before closing the door to begin her retreat.
Kenny Lin slowly returned to the room next door.
Since they had come back, they had been living with Mr. Lin.
But because Amalia was going into retreat, it was no longer suitable to live with everyone.
Amalia was afraid that Wealth would disturb her, so she entrusted it to Kenny Lin to take care of.
Kenny Lin was too lazy to take care of it, so he kept it locked in the room all day, where Wealth entertained itself by watching dramas.
When Kenny Lin entered the room, it was still watching.
Its small body was nestled in the chair, and someone who didn’t know better might have thought the room was haunted since the TV was on without anyone watching.
Adhering strictly to the ’leader’s’ order, Kenny Lin immediately turned off the TV.
Wealth turned its head and looking at him with a face full of resentment, wondering why he had turned off its modern drama.
"Your mother doesn’t want you to keep watching the dramas; she’s afraid that you’ll lead me astray."
Kenny Lin who held the golden command token, full of arrogance.
Wealth’s eyes widened in disbelief.
It didn’t believe it.
The owner couldn’t possibly treat it this way.
It wanted to go find the owner and set things straight.
With a thud, Wealth immediately jumped off the chair and started to run over, but Kenny Lin’s words stopped it.
"She’s in retreat now. Go ahead and see what happens if you dared to disturb her."
A bolt of shock hit Wealth; sometimes when the owner goes into retreat, it can take a long time.
Wouldn’t that mean it wouldn’t be able to watch dramas for that entire period?
After weighing the pros and cons, Wealth calmed down and started contemplating the feasibility of throwing a tantrum at the owner.
Finally, it reached the conclusion that the owner might take the opportunity to abandon it, so it instantly dismissing the thought.
Seeing it compromise so quickly, Kenny Lin thought it would put up a fight and was left feeling bored.
However, he wasn’t left idle for long.
Soon, Me. Lin, who knew he had nothing else to do, dragged him away.
Before leaving, Kenny Lin assigned Wealth a task: to guard Amalia’s room and notify him if anyone with ill intentions approached the room.
He completely forgot that Wealth couldn’t be seen by others.
Amalia currently had no shortage of materials for refining artifacts.
However, before starting her work, she took out a book from her Soltice ring and flipped to the end.
It was the manuscript of Elder Yi Xiulan, divided into multiple phases, with the first phase being what she was currently studying.
