Chapter 430: Breakthrough (Part 2)

The next second, Kenny Lin landed back on the ground.

Without waiting for Hans Manuel to ask about the situation, he returned to the area outside the room.

His sharp gaze swept around the room, and the pressure of his aura had not yet faded.

"Did you discover anything else?" Hans Manuel approached.

Kenny Lin saw that Amalia was safe inside the room and relaxed a bit, "No problem. It was just a few mutated eagles; I didn’t detect any other mutated creatures."

"That’s good. The high-level mutated creatures have started to scout human territory. It seems war is imminent," Hans Manuel lamented.

Each battle against the mutated creatures cost many lives, but this time, with better preparations, the casualties should be different from before.

Kenny Lin nodded in agreement.

Hans Manuel glanced at Amalia’s room, "How is her progress?"

Amalia was their benefactor, and General Silva had given strict instructions to make sure nothing happened to her.

Here is the revised passage with Amalia’s gender changed to female and the grammar corrected:

"It should be soon," Kenny Lin said, glancing back at the room.

The scouting eagles and dogs had not returned, and the high-level mutated creatures knew they had failed, but this did not affect their plans.

The next day, at dawn, the Fruit City No.1 was bathed in the morning light without any sunlight.

Amalia opened her eyes, feeling a surge of spiritual energy flowing through her body.

She exhaled a breath of stale air.

She had finally made a breakthrough.

She had ascended from the peak of Tier 3 to Tier 2 beginner stage.

This was a significant leap for every spiritual cultivator, as many were stuck at this stage.

Just then, the door opened.

Kenny Lin walked in.

"How do you feel?"

"Great! I have a lot of energy now and feel like I need to release it."

Amalia clenched her fist and noticing the qualitative difference between Tier 2 and Tier 3.

The fire-type spiritual veins that was flowing through her veins had changed from a small stream to a rushing river.

She felt confident that she could now refining intermediate level spiritual artifacts without any issues.

"Do you want to find some mutated creatures to let off steam?" Kenny Lin suggested.

Amalia thought about it and shook her head. "No need. Was there an attack last night?"

Although she was focused on her breakthrough, she still had some awareness of her surroundings.

"Just a few mutated creatures scouting for information," Kenny Lin said nonchalantly.

The bloodstains outside had already dried up, and the soldiers had dealt with the mutated eagles Kenny Lin had killed.

Amalia stepped outside and saw the blood on the ground, which was a common sight in the city.

It was almost everywhere.

As she was thinking about this, General Silva arrived.

"Amalia, you finally come out."

Amalia was slightly surprised," General Silva, are you looking for me?"

"Of course I was looking for you. I wanted to speak to you before you went to training in the disaster zone, but you managed to slip away quickly," General Silva said, implying he had been waiting for a month.

Amalia touched her nose, understanding what he meant, "I was in a hurry to start my training."

"Let’s not talk about that. The reason I sought you out this time is to discuss about the advanced level healing techniques," General Silva got straight to the point, "I know you have everything you need now, so the only thing I can offer you is a military rank."

Amalia was genuinely surprised, "A military rank?"

General Silva nodded affirmatively, "That’s right. You may not be particularly interested in it, but having a rank can make things easier for you in the future. He also has one; you can ask him about it."

He indicated Kenny Lin.

"He means an honorary rank without actual power. However, if you want one, it’s not difficult to obtain," Kenny Lin shrugged.

Amalia was curious, as she had never known about this. She asked, "What rank do you hold?"

"Maybe a lieutenant general?" Kenny Lin seemed indifferent.

"Is it possible to have an honorary rank at the level of lieutenant general?" She wondered how he managed to achieve that rank with his audacious nature.

Before Kenny Lin could answer, General Silva chuckled, "Normally, it wouldn’t be possible, but his situation is unique. He doesn’t want to be in charge, so no one can stop him."

"I’ve never seen anyone with the rank of lieutenant general who doesn’t want any authority. The military doesn’t beg him for it either. Many people aspire to the rank of lieutenant general and can’t achieve it, and he’s only holding an honorary rank, which others are eager for him to take."

"Then I’ll take an honorary rank as well."

Amalia had no ambition or desire for power.

With the planet was nearly destroyed, such things held little value.

General Silva had anticipated this, but hearing it confirmed made him smile wryly.

"Your contributions are sustainable. After discussing with the military, we’ve decided to grant you the rank of major. You’ll receive a monthly salary and benefits, and I’ve arranged for your parents to have a house in the military district compound. That will be your family’s home from now on."

Amalia wasn’t particularly interested in the salary and benefits, but the housing arrangement was exactly what she wanted.

Initially, she planned to find a new place for her parents to live after her return.

They couldn’t continue living with others indefinitely.

She hadn’t expected a military rank to solve the problem; it was more practical than any other reward.

In response, Amalia was quite pleased, "Thank you, General Silva."

"No, I should be the one thanking you," General Silva said, noticing her satisfaction and feeling a weight lifted off his shoulders.

Compared to her selfless contributions, this reward seemed insignificant.

After General Silva left, Amalia couldn’t help but marvel, "Getting a military rank is surprisingly easy. I did nothing and became a major."
