Chapter 417: Black Fragments (Part 4)
A Flowers from the greenhouse will eventually wilt; it’s better not to raise them at all.
Kenny Lin smiled; he liked seeing Amalia like this.
Amalia didn’t care about his current thoughts.
Since she had decided to give the black fragments to Wealth, she wouldn’t change her mind.
However, some things needed to be stated upfront.
Amalia held Wealth on her knee, her expression serious as she looked at it, "Wealth, you can have these black fragments, but if you can’t handle them and end up becoming a mutated creature with only animal instincts left, your father and I might have to kill you to prevent future troubles. We don’t want you to end up captured by someone else."
Wealth shivered, feeling a little upset.
Why was its owner suddenly being so cold and heartless?
It thought only its former owner who would act like this.
"If you agree, we’ll give them to you. If you don’t agree, we can pretend this never happened, and you’ll still be our good son."
Amalia gave it the choice.
Wealth was silent for a moment, then it firmly held onto one of the boxes.
It wanted to grow stronger.
It didn’t want to always hide in its owner’s pocket.
It wanted to be as powerful as those high-level mutated creatures they encountered today.
It wanted to protect its owner like its former owner did.
Amalia patted its head affectionately, "Good, you’re a brave son, just like your dad."
Wealth immediately puffed out its chest.
Of course!
"Why wait for the right moment? Let’s do it here in the Level 9 mutated creature’s territory."
Kenny Lin’s cold voice interrupted their mother and son warm moment.
The conditions in the central disaster zone were favorable, and Amalia didn’t mind, "Start with one piece and see how long it takes. If it’s not long, try a few more pieces."
They still needed to find the blue skin tree, so they couldn’t stay here too long.
The two of them entered the Level 9 mutated creature’s territory and clearing out the surrounding mutated creatures before heading to the lair and taking out the black fragments.
Wealth found a spot with water, took a bath, and cleaned itself up before sitting down in front of the black fragments.
Perhaps due to the earlier threat from Amalia, when Wealth faced the alluring black fragment again, it didn’t quickly lose its composure.
After some time, it finally swallowed the black fragment.
Amalia watched as Wealth soon began to writhe in pain, its recently washed fur quickly becoming caked with mud.
"Such a drama queen," Kenny Lin mocked.
Amalia glanced at him, "The pot shouldn’t call the kettle black; it learned all of this from you."
Kenny Lin retorted, "I can’t be compared to it."
"You’re right, you’re worse than it," Amalia acknowledged her mistake courageously.
The two exchanged banter while keeping an eye on Wealth’s condition.
It seemed to be in a lot of pain, but if this was a necessary part of the process, they couldn’t help it.
Time passed quickly, and they could tell that the chaotic energy around Wealth had settled in less than a day.
Of course, given their lack of experience, they didn’t realize that other high-level mutated creatures absorbed the energy of black fragments by holding them and absorbing them bit by bit.
If they knew, they might have scolded Wealth for swallowing the fragment whole.
But neither of them felt anything was wrong at the time.
Kenny Lin didn’t care how Wealth absorbed the fragment.
Amalia was used to seeing Wealth swallow spirit beads and crystal cores whole, so she didn’t think much of it.
When it was over, only half a day had passed.
Wealth looked as though it had just come out of a mud puddle.
Its eyes were bright, with no trace of restlessness.
It wanted to nuzzle against Amalia, but she instinctively used her spiritual spiritual to block it, "Stay back, you’re too dirty."
Wealth was confused at first, but when it heard its owner’s disdain, it was stunned.
It looked down and saw its once shiny fur was now gone and it was replaced by a foul smell that made even it nauseous.
It prided itself on being clean, but now it smelled so bad that it stumbled to find water, diving in with a splash.
Immediately, a layer of black grime floated to the surface.
Five minutes later, Wealth emerged from the water, finally clean again.
It meticulously groomed itself until it shone before returning to Amalia.
It puffed out its chest, proudly displaying its strength.
Lumina Scale Komodo were not primarily battle oriented creatures, but its cultivation could still improve.
Previously, its only advantage was to found spirit stones veins and its relatively fast speed, but otherwise, it was weak and could easily be killed by a single kick from even a common Level 3 or 4 mutated creature.
Now, just by consuming one black fragment, its strength had increased from Level 4 to Level 6.
Amalia noticed that its fur had also become much tougher, no longer as soft as before.
"Just one black fragment can boost it for two levels. It is indeed better than spirit beads and crystal cores," Amalia remarked.
Kenny Lin countered, "Previously, it ate so many, but it never showed improvement. If it eats a few more, the rate of improvement will likely slow down. The real question should be about its intelligence, not its strength since we can’t rely on it. It seems just as foolish as before."
Amalia looked at Wealth, who appeared somewhat affected by the comment.
There was some truth in it...
"Whether its intelligence increases or not doesn’t matter, as long as it can speak."
She wouldn’t have to keep trying to guess and interpret what it was saying.
Although she was used to it, it was still a mental task.
Wealth looked proudly at its previous owner, thinking: Did you hear that? My owner doesn’t mind me eating a lot.
