Chapter 1244: Secrets of the Underground Ci
With that, he handed the servant’s photo to his subordinate. "Investigate their connection to this person. I want results within two days."
"Yes, boss."
The bodyguard pocketed the photo and left.
Bhoj clasped his hands behind his back and paced in place. "I hope my judgment isn’t wrong."
After leaving Bhoj’s villa, Amalia and Kenny Lin set off to find the entrance to the Underground City.
Having two passes in hand made things much easier.
Passes acted like credentials—no matter how unfamiliar their faces were, someone was always willing to offer guidance.
Their guide only glanced at the passes before leading them straight to the Underground City entrance without asking any questions.
The Underground City was a world completely different from the daylight of Planet Omicron, almost as if it existed in another timeline, with its own distinct set of rules.
At the entrance stood a gatekeeper, a cultivator at the peak of the Foundation Establishment stage.
He was strong—one of the rare few powerhouses in this part of the universe—effectively preventing most people from forcibly breaking in.
When the gatekeeper examined Amalia and Kenny Lin’s passes, he gave them a second glance, likely because their faces were unfamiliar, but he ultimately let them through.
A little while after they entered, another group arrived.
The man at the front seemed acquainted with the gatekeeper and greeted him with a smile.
"Bringing more people again?" The gatekeeper’s eyes flicked toward the two tense figures behind the man, his expression showing a hint of displeasure.
The man chuckled and slipped something into the gatekeeper’s hand. "Senior Charan, just do me a favor."
The gatekeeper weighed the item in his palm. "You lot need to change this habit of yours. If you run into the wrong person down here, no one’s going to save you."
"Thanks for the warning, Senior Charan. We know what we’re doing. Sorry to trouble you."
The man responded with a slight bow, showing a hint of flattery.
Without further questioning, the gatekeeper allowed them inside—without requiring them to show passes.
So-called "passes" were only necessary for certain people.
As soon as they stepped into the Underground City, it became clear that this place operated on an entirely different rhythm.
Unlike the silent, starry night outside, this world bustled with energy.
It felt more like midday than midnight.
The streets were packed with people—merchants trading goods, informants exchanging information, and countless people from all walks of life going about their business.
Amalia and Kenny Lin had barely stepped inside before they noticed several unfriendly eyes tracking them.
"You two look unfamiliar. First time in the Underground City?" A man immediately approached them, striking up a conversation.
"What makes you think it’s our first time?" Amalia asked.
"If you’d been here before, I’d definitely recognize you. The Underground City has a high turnover, sure, but with faces like yours? There’s no way anyone would forget seeing you."
He then introduced himself. "My name is Darsh Sumanth. You can call me Darsh. I know my way around this place. Since it’s your first time here, I can answer any questions—for a small price, of course."
"Then tell us about the Underground City," Amalia said without hesitation.
Right now, they did need someone to show them around.
Even if he had ulterior motives, it didn’t matter.
Hearing their straightforward response, Darsh grinned and immediately launched into an explanation. "Alright then. The Underground City doesn’t really have rules. It mainly serves as a trading hub where people exchange things they can’t obtain through legal means. You can also buy and sell information."
"Oh? Like what?"
"If you can think of it, chances are you can find it here. But information doesn’t come cheap."
"And where do people go to buy and sell information?" Amalia asked.
Darsh asked, "Do you want to go now?"
"Hmm."
Without asking further, Darsh grinned and led them to the place where information was bought and sold.
The location was tucked away in an inconspicuous corner, rarely visited by anyone.
Inside, there was only a middle-aged man—slightly overweight, with small eyes filled with calculation.
He lounged lazily in a rattan chair, looking completely at ease.
When he saw Darsh bringing people over, he merely lifted his eyelids slightly.
"Lagan, it’s time to get up. I got some business for you," Darsh knocked on the counter.
Only then did the middle-aged man sit up, glancing sideways at them. "Buying or selling information?"
Darsh turned to Amalia, and she answered, "Buying."
Hearing that they were buying information, the man finally stood up and stepped out of the room.
He sized them up slowly before speaking at a leisurely pace. "What kind of information do you want? Different kinds come with different price tags."
Amalia didn’t answer directly.
Instead, she asked, "Can we buy any information here?"
Hearing the doubt in her voice, the middle-aged man’s expression immediately turned cold. "If you don’t trust me, why bother coming here at all?"
"Lagan , don’t be mad. They’re new here and don’t know the rules. It’s normal to ask," Darsh quickly tried to smooth things over.
"Hmph. I’ll let it slide this time for your sake," the man snorted. "But some information isn’t something you can afford."
The two of them seemed to be putting on an act, but Amalia didn’t care. "Can we buy information about Pleiadian Ascendancy?"
"Pleiadian Ascendancy?" The middle-aged man’s expression changed. "That’s the royal faction."
"And? Is royal faction information off-limits?"
The man’s eyes flickered. "Of course, it’s possible. But we don’t usually deal with royal matters—that’s the rule. After all, the Underground City is right here on Planet Omicron. If we want to keep surviving, there are some things we simply can’t touch."
"Including the Holy Gate of the Heaven and the Earth?" Amalia suddenly asked.
The middle-aged man froze for a second before replying, "That’s different. The Holy Gate of the Heaven and the Earth and Pleiadian Ascendancy are two separate entities. One hides in the shadows, the other is directly under the royal family. The former is a secretive force the royal family desperately wants to eliminate. What do you want to know about the Holy Gate of the Heaven and the Earth?"
