Chapter 1234: Banquet of Schemes
The grand hall that was capable of accommodating fifty thousand people were filled with nobles and aristocrats who are engaged in lively conversation.
They’re raising their glasses in celebration.
Among them, the figures in resplendent attire moved gracefully through the crowd, each person meticulously dressed for the occasion.
Some envoys couldn’t help but feel relieved that they had chosen to change into the banquet attire.
Had they come in their usual outfits, they would have stood out awkwardly in such a grand setting.
Their entrance did not go unnoticed.
The Crimson Snake Sovereign was quickly surrounded by several nobles, leaving others to entertain the envoys.
"Minister Sharif, General Rafiq, what should we do now?" Khalil asked.
"It’s a banquet—everyone should move freely," Sharif replied. "But don’t stray too far. This is likely where the Crimson Moon Dynasty will begin probing us for information."
Kenny Lin had never attended such a banquet before.
Back on Earth, the Lin family held extraordinary status, but he had always disliked the rigid formality of political assemblies.
"How do you feel?" he asked, leaning close to Amalia, clearly enjoying asking for her impressions.
"There are quite a few cultivators here," Amalia responded. "Ever since we entered the sacred hall, many people have tried to probe us. Somewhere in this palace, there’s a cultivator at the Golden Core stage."
"I felt his divine sense sweep over me," Kenny Lin said with a mischievous grin.
Amalia chuckled. "He’s lucky you didn’t immediately retaliate and make him suffer a backlash."
"We still need to investigate the Holy Gate of the Heaven and the Earth. If we scare them too soon, they might hide their tracks," Kenny Lin reasoned.
"For once, that’s a well-thought-out plan," Amalia remarked with a smile.
"You make it sound like I don’t usually use my brain."
"That’s exactly what I think." Amalia nodded her head in agreement.
Kenny Lin took a deep breath. "That really hurts my feelings. Can’t you tell when I’m using my brain or not? I only use it when it comes to things related to you."
Amalia couldn’t help but laugh. "Well, I really appreciate it."
"You’re welcome. It’s only natural. After all, I’m your man. If I don’t think about you, who else would I think about?" Kenny Lin grinned, throwing out another playful remark, giving himself room to take things even further.
Amalia decided to end the topic and pulled him toward the banquet table.
"This is supposed to be the highest standard of a royal banquet? Look at this food—there’s barely anything here," Kenny Lin grumbled when he saw the selection on the table.
Other than fruits and pastries, there was barely any proper food—far worse than what they had in the Erythar Star System.
"You should be glad there’s food at all. And are you really here to eat?" Amalia glanced at the table, spotting several unfamiliar fruits.
Without hesitation, Kenny Lin picked up a piece of fruit with purple flesh and took a bite. "Not poisonous. You can try it," he commented.
A few aristocrats in formal suits standing nearby seemed to hear his remark.
Their lips twitched slightly, and their gazes toward Kenny Lin were filled with unconcealed disdain.
A backwater star system was still a backwater star system.
So-called elites from such places were nothing more than crude upstarts.
They assumed Kenny Lin was one of the key figures among the Erythar Star System’s upper class, and every action he took only reinforced their belief that he was uncultured and boorish.
Kenny Lin glanced at them, then turned to Amalia. "You just said I don’t use my brain. But these guys can’t even tell when they’re being mocked. Aren’t they even worse?"
Only then did the aristocrats realize he had been making fun of them, and their faces turned red with embarrassment.
One nobleman, his expression furious, seemed on the verge of stepping forward to argue.
But before he could, someone else beat him to it.
A middle-aged man in a well-tailored suit approached.
He appeared to be in his forties or fifties, with a gentle smile and an air of calm sophistication.
However, the subtle fluctuations of spiritual energy around him revealed that he was a cultivator at the Foundation Building stage.
His demeanor was mild and approachable, making him seem surprisingly easygoing.
The aristocrats who had been itching to step forward suddenly halted their steps when they saw the man.
After exchanging glances, they took a few steps back, no longer eager to advance.
However, their eyes still held an unmistakable glint of schadenfreude.
"I am Chandra Hari," the man introduced himself with a polite smile. "May I ask how I should address the two immortals?"
To the surprise of the three aristocrats, Chandra did not immediately exert pressure or act in a condescending manner.
Amalia’s gaze flickered over their stunned faces.
They were not cultivators and therefore couldn’t sense the oppressive aura emanating from Amalia and Kenny Lin.
They had assumed the two of them were just ordinary humans.
Now, seeing Chandra’s unexpectedly respectful attitude, the three aristocrats suddenly felt uneasy.
A cultivator?
They were fortunate they hadn’t spoken rashly just now.
Kenny Lin scrutinized Chandra from head to toe but remained silent.
Chandra could feel the weight of Kenny Lin’s gaze, and his grip on his wine cup unconsciously tightened.
"My name is Amalia, and his name is Kenny," Amalia said coolly.
Only then did Chandra relax his fingers slightly. "Ms. Amalia, Mr. Kenny, I have long heard of your esteemed names."
Amalia smirked. "Oh? You’ve heard of us? Or rather, have you only heard of Kenny?"
After all, back on Planet Omicron, the one who had acted against Miralles’s men was Kenny Lin.
Ever since they arrived, the curious and prying gazes had mostly been focused on him.
Amalia was just a side note.
Chandra’s expression remained composed. "I cannot discern Ms. Amalia’s cultivation level, which suggests it is above my own. Regardless of whom I have heard of before, I have great respect for all powerful immortals."
