Chapter 1172: The Power Struggle

"Mother, is this the kid you found to take care of us?"

Amalia tapped his forehead lightly. "He’s not here to take care of you."

Wealth pouted.

"Javier, I’ll leave this to you." Amalia handed the little Pixiu to the child.

On the way here, she had already explained a few requirements to him—his name was Javier.

Javier held the small creature as if it were a precious treasure and gently stroking its newly grown fur.

Though it was a bit ugly, its coat was incredibly soft.

"I will, hero sister!"

Amalia nodded and was about to leave when the boy hesitated, then called out to her.

"Hero Sister, I have one more request. Um... can I bring my little sister up here?"

"You can, but don’t run around aimlessly. There are many things here that shouldn’t be touched unless you have Wealth’s permission." Amalia placed Wealth in front of him. "As for food, don’t worry. From now on, someone will deliver food regularly."

"Don’t worry, hero sister! If Wealth doesn’t want us to touch something, we won’t! My sister won’t either!" Javier promised immediately.

Before leaving, Amalia found Nazir and instructed him to send food up the mountain daily.

It could be raw or cooked—whatever the children preferred.

Since the mountain peak was quite a distance from the human city, running up and down for every meal wasn’t practical, so raw food was necessary.

Nazir was shocked that such an important figure had personally come to speak with him.

Overwhelmed with excitement, he immediately agreed.

This task wasn’t troublesome at all.

He had long noticed the mysterious house on the mountaintop and had occasionally spotted a golden-furred beast lounging on a rock there.

Being able to interact closely with these powerful figures was an opportunity he wouldn’t pass up—he was more than happy to make extra trips.

After all, the more familiar he became with them, the more likely he was to receive benefits that others couldn’t.

It was just a shame that Javier, that lucky little brat, had gotten such an incredible opportunity.

If only he had been the one chosen...

While Amalia was busy handling matters in the small world, Major General Rafiq and his team were tallying the spoils of war.

The news of Zesch’s death had already spread among the alien forces.

Humans received the information a bit later, but that didn’t stop them from celebrating nationwide.

Planet Veloxia, Royal Court.

"The aliens actually turned on each other, wiping out the alien base on Planet Teutonia? This is unbelievable! We should open some wine and celebrate!" The Emperor cheered excitedly.

"Haha! Absolutely! It’s been far too long since we’ve had a reason to be this happy!" Laith laughed heartily, even louder than the Emperor, his booming voice making Luhay and Sharif frown.

"This is way too much of a coincidence," Luhay and Sharif said in unison.

"What do you mean?" Laith was confused.

The Emperor, however, had already guessed what they were implying. "But the aliens wouldn’t go so far as to stage a fight just to put on a show for us."

"That’s unlikely," Luhay admitted. "It’s just strange. Why would the aliens suddenly turn on each other?"

He couldn’t figure it out.

Sharif said calmly, "It’s more than that. Just two days ago, we received information that a group of pirates had made contact with an alien faction—specifically, Zesch’s faction, the one occupying Planet Teutonia."

"What does it matter why? As long as it benefits us, that’s all that counts. It’s obvious the aliens started fighting among themselves over uneven spoils. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity." Laith dismissed any concerns.

"Are you worried the aliens might suddenly turn on us?" Luhay looked at Sharif.

"I’m thinking..." Sharif paused before continuing, "If we can figure out why the aliens suddenly started fighting, we might be able to exploit it—provoke them into full-scale conflict. Remember the Cosmorite mechas we intercepted? And the Emberion Cores?"

The eyes of everyone present lit up. "You mean framing them?"

"It’s worth a try. But this mission is extremely dangerous. Whoever carries it out will face almost certain death."

"I’ll go." Laith volunteered without hesitation.

"Besides Laith and me, no one understands the aliens’ Cosmorite mechas better. I’m the best candidate for this."

"No way!" The Emperor rejected the idea immediately. "You are the backbone of this country. The army still needs your leadership. If something happens to you, their morale will collapse. The same goes for Laith. You two cannot be put at risk."

Just as an argument was about to break out, Sharif interrupted, cutting off further debate. "I never said we were definitely going through with this plan. In fact, I have a better candidate—but convincing them is another matter."

The three men immediately guessed who he was referring to.

Aside from those aloof immortals, there was no one else.

"Do you think they’ll agree?"

"If we offer enough benefits, they might. After all, we’re not asking them to face an entire alien army head-on. But this plan still needs refinement—executing it without leaving a trace is the key issue. And there’s one more thing." Sharif continued, "For now, put Ashen Djinn Brotherhood on hold. From this point forward, I will only deal with Sable Andalus League. We must finalize our agreement with them as soon as possible. Also, palace security needs to be tightened."

"Understood. I’ll issue the orders immediately."

Laith strode out of the royal court without hesitation—when something needed to be done, he wasted no time.

Meanwhile, Ashen Djinn Brotherhood also received news of Zesch’s death.

The pirate leader was so shocked he thought he had misheard and asked twice to confirm it.

The alien faction they had just struck a deal with had been wiped out in less than a day.

"The aliens must be insane! They’re turning on their own kind like wild dogs!"

"I heard it was General Aelra’s battleship that annihilated Zesch. They launched a surprise attack, and Planet Teutonia fell in less than a day."
