Former Interstellar Mercenary In Urban Cultivation World -
Chapter 1171: The Runaway Pixiu
Chapter 1171: The Runaway Pixiu
"You actually gained something like this? Then shouldn’t we try to save more planets?" Kenny Lin licked his lips, excitement flashing in his eyes.
Amalia had already expected him to say that. "Your son said this kind of thing is a matter of luck. We should leave it to fate."
"That’s different. The aliens still have several bases in the Erythar Star System. If even a planet like Planet Teutonia provided a reward, what about the others?" Kenny Lin was eager to act.
"We’ll see."
Amalia didn’t commit.
Instead, she called Khalil over and asked him to prepare some fruit that was soft and easy to eat.
Khalil agreed immediately and returned within ten minutes, carrying a full basket.
"Is this enough? If not, I can get more."
"That would be great," Amalia said, unsure of the Pixiu’s appetite.
It was better to have extra.
Khalil went back and returned with Tariq, each of them carrying two more baskets.
Seeing that the amount was sufficient, Amalia sent all the fruit into her small world.
In just the short time she had been away, she found Wealth sitting on the floor in a daze.
"What’s wrong?" Amalia sent her voice directly into his mind.
Wealth snapped back to his senses and jumped to his feet in panic. "Mother, that little beast ran away! I only ignored him for one minute, and now he’s gone!"
Amalia immediately scanned the small world.
Before long, she found the newborn Pixiu in the newly built human settlement—cradled in the arms of a human child.
The child shoved a fruit into the beast’s mouth, and the little creature began devouring it ravenously.
"He was probably hungry and ran to the human world to find food."
Amalia relayed her guess to Wealth.
Wealth looked aggrieved. "It’s not like I didn’t feed him! It hasn’t even been that long—he’s just impatient!"
"I know. I’ll bring him back... Actually, I’ll find someone to take care of him for you."
After informing Kenny Lin, Amalia’s body vanished from sight.
Khalil and Tariq weren’t surprised, but the others were left in shock.
They had heard rumors that Amalia possessed a small world, one that housed the 100,000 refugees from Planet Shadron.
But none of them had ever seen it with their own eyes.
"General, I heard from Khalil that there are no aliens in that small world. It’s completely safe," Officer Khan couldn’t help but comment.
"I heard that too. Living there would mean we wouldn’t have to fight aliens anymore. We could live just like before..." A soldier beside him looked envious.
Major General Rafiq glanced at them and said, "No one doesn’t want to return to peaceful times. But what we’re doing now—this fight—is precisely to ensure that everyone can have peace again. Someone has to take on that responsibility."
And without a doubt, they were that "someone."
Officer Khan had only been speaking his mind, but he knew exactly what responsibilities he carried on his shoulders.
Just as those words settled, Amalia’s figure reappeared inside her small world, standing in the middle of a bustling street in the new settlement.
Children ran and played, people chatted and bartered, and the street was filled with a warm, lively energy.
It was even a little crowded.
Although the small world wasn’t as vast as the Mystic Void Continent, or even as large as Planet Shadron, it was still spacious enough to accommodate a street several meters wide.
This design was intentional.
After enduring so much separation and loss, people cherished the warmth of human connection more than ever.
Many of them had lost their loved ones in the brutal war, leaving them alone in the world.
To foster unity, Nazir proposed a compact city layout.
This way, people would always see others in their daily lives and wouldn’t feel too isolated.
The idea was overwhelmingly approved by 99% of the 100,000 residents, leading to the bustling scene Amalia now witnessed.
Her sudden appearance caught the attention of some people.
Since everyone worked together and could see their neighbors through their windows at home, they had long become familiar with one another.
A stranger suddenly appearing in their midst naturally caused a bit of unease.
Then, a child spotted Amalia, his eyes lighting up with excitement.
He ran up to her, panting.
"Are you the hero who saved us?"
"It’s you."
Amalia immediately recognized the boy.
He was the first human to speak to her and Kenny Lin when they arrived on Planet Shadron.
Back then, he had been nothing but skin and bones, his cheeks sunken, his body frail.
Now, he looked much healthier, his spirit and vitality clearly restored.
He had gained weight, and his bright, glistening eyes were full of life.
"You remember me?" The child trembled with excitement.
"Of course, I do." With Amalia’s current level of cultivation, she wouldn’t forget unless too much time had passed—or she deliberately chose to.
The boy beamed with joy and immediately turned to the nearby adults who were unfamiliar with Amalia, shouting, "He’s one of the heroes who saved us! Our savior!"
Amalia didn’t want to attract too much attention and quickly stopped him. "I have something to take care of right now."
"Can I help?" the boy asked eagerly.
Seeing the anticipation in his eyes, Amalia was reminded of her need to find someone responsible.
This boy seemed like a good choice.
A short while later, she returned to the hut with the child—and the little Pixiu, which she had retrieved from the other kids.
Wealth was sprawled out lazily on a large rock in the front yard, basking in the sun.
When he saw them return, he only lifted his eyelids slightly.
"Wow."
The child’s eyes widened at the sight of Wealth’s golden fur, which gleamed even more brilliantly than the newborn Pixiu’s.
Unable to resist, he ran over, his hands itching to touch.
As Amalia approached, Wealth suddenly stood up and threw himself into her arms, pushing the little Pixiu aside.
