Chapter 1166: The Battle for Teutonia
"I bet it’s about to rain again. This damned weather—it rains all year round. It’s annoying as hell. I have no idea why the General insisted on choosing this planet."
"Obviously because this planet is rich in resources and close to the human outposts. If anything happens, we can respond quickly and prevent other factions from taking credit."
"Every lord has their eyes on these humans. Even the prince himself is personally involved."
"Enough chatter, let’s go. Another half-hour and our shift is over. I can’t stand these patrols anymore—so boring. Humans are weak; they don’t even dare to resist, let alone launch a sneak attack."
"Exactly. Let’s hurry up."
The four aliens hastily crossed the plaza, failing to notice the colossal battleship hovering right above them.
"This planet serves as a base for an alien named Zesch. He commands an army of fifty thousand Cosmorite mechas, along with hundreds of thousands of alien."
Aboard the battleship, Officer Khan calmly analyzed the strategic information regarding this planet, Teutonia.
"How can we distinguish the alien fleets? Do they have any noticeable characteristics?" Amalia stood before the screen, the reflected light casting a metallic sheen over her beautiful features.
"Yes," Officer Khan replied, pulling up various data.
"Fleet rankings start with the Prince level—someone of Prince Ceodore’s status commands no fewer than two hundred thousand Cosmorite mechas, with additional forces varying by species."
"So Aelra isn’t even at that level?" Amalia raised an eyebrow.
"Correct. Any commander with over one hundred thousand Cosmorite mechas holds a significant status in the alien hierarchy. Aelra was already quite powerful—he was a general. Had he not been eliminated by Ms. Amalia and Mr. Kenny earlier, the two most formidable alien forces in the Erythar Star System would have been him and the Prince of Doomsday."
"Their rivalry over Erythar Star System’s resources meant they were never fully aligned. Our earlier refusal to attend their meetings signaled our disinterest in dividing the spoils, so they didn’t push the issue. In fact, they were probably relieved."
"Below the Princes are Dukes, Marquises, and Earls. These ranks are closer to the alien royal bloodline, which grants them the right to command mecha armies."
"That said, the number of alien royals in the Erythar Star System is limited. Based on our intelligence, there are fewer than five ennobled members of the monarch. That means the total Cosmorite mecha forces across the Erythar Star System should be just over a million."
"Impressive," Kenny Lin remarked, glancing at Officer Khan.
Officer Khan coughed. "This isn’t entirely our doing. Without this battleship, we wouldn’t have been able to gather this much intelligence."
Aliens had long believed that human technology lagged far behind theirs, so they never took great care in securing their transmissions.
As a result, the battleship easily intercepted their communications.
"A million mechas are enough to put the entire Erythar Star System on high alert and even push it to the brink of collapse. Other star systems must be in even greater danger," Amalia mused.
A brief silence filled the room.
The realization was embarrassing—Erythar Star System was so weak that even a mere one million alien mechas posed an existential threat.
Kenny Lin chuckled at their awkward expressions.
Amalia did some quick calculations. "We have just over ten thousand mechas going up against fifty thousand enemy mechas. This whetstone is a little tough... Here’s what we’ll do: I’ll send down two more beast puppet units. If you’re outmatched, retreat toward them. Use this as an opportunity to hone your skills."
Major General Rafiq was taken aback. "We’re not going for a sneak attack? If we do this, the aliens will be better prepared next time."
"Their preparations won’t make a difference. What matters most now is tempering our mecha forces. If we can forge an unstoppable army, won’t that be even more valuable?"
Major General Rafiq felt a wave of shame. "Then we shall proceed as you say, Ms. Amalia."
He suddenly realized that humanity could not overly rely on these two people.
They had to grow stronger on their own.
That was the greatest assistance Amalia could provide.
And yet, he hadn’t thought it through as thoroughly as she had.
...
The outbreak of battle was abrupt for the aliens.
Many were of them who are still asleep, lost in dreams, unable to react in time.
Some even assumed it was just another skirmish between rival factions.
Then the bombardment intensified.
Buildings crumbled.
The Aliens were buried beneath the debris, their bodies torn apart by the explosions.
Zesch crawled out from the wreckage of a collapsed structure.
When he turned around and saw the ruins of his former residence, his chest swelled with rage.
"Bastards! Who? Who dares attack my domain?! Humans lack the capability for this—it’s impossible for them to launch such an assault without us noticing!"
"Report to Marquis, over ten thousand Cosmorite Mechas are descending from the sky! It’s them—they’re firing at us!"
A bloodied alien rushed in front of him.
"Cosmorite Mechas? Could it be that the Prince Ceodore has gone back on his word and wants to eliminate us to monopolize the Erythar Star System by his own?" Zesch had no choice but to consider this possibility.
"I don’t know. We can’t even see where the enemy’s battleship is."
Zesch’s eyes suddenly widened. "An invisible battleship? Damn it! If it’s not the Prince Ceodore, then it must be Aelra!"
"My lord, General Aelra suddenly refused to attend the meeting before vanishing without a trace. Could it be his battleship? Only he has the capability. If the Prince Ceodore were mobilizing a battleship, we would have received intelligence on it."
Gryad strode forward in full armor with a bird-headed emblem on his chest—his true form was a Crimson Mirage Raven.
"Aelra!" Zesch’s face twisted with rage.
There was no need to ask; he was almost certain that Aelra had something to do with the surprise attack on his mecha forces.
"Pass my orders—counterattack with full force! Everyone, engage!"
"Yes, sir!"
