Chapter 113: New People
"What are you looking at?" Kenny Lin leaned closer and asked lazily. He was so close to the point that she could felt the heat of his breath.
"Seeing things with my own eyes," Amalia replied without even turning her head.
Kenny Lin found this nonchalant attitude particularly intriguing. Despite knowing each other for a while, this ’couldn’t care less’ demeanor still gave him a sense of novelty.
After a moment, his gaze shifted to the holographic screen, "Why are you looking at Heavenly Path University?"
"I’m a student at Heavenly Path University, so of course, I’m checking about it," Amalia suddenly remembered that she might not have mentioned this to him before.
Kenny Lin didn’t seem surprised, "What year?"
Amalia paused and briefly said, "First year."
She had anticipated to see Kenny Lin’s shocked expression, but it didn’t.
Generally, first-year students at Heavenly Path University were between 18 and 19 years old, and reaching up to 21 or 22.
Someone like Amalia, who was already 23, was a relatively rare occurrence.
It was beyond her control; when the original body was found by Arthur, she was already at this age, and the department she was majoring in was also no longer suited her.
Heavenly Path University is divided into two major colleges, separating into several smaller ones underneath.
The Martial Arts College focuses on combat, they are emphasizing both unarmed combat and weapon-type fighting style, with practical combat being the ultimate goal.
Among the spirit cultivators, at least seventy to eighty percent of the newly admitted students choose the Martial Arts College.
The Literature College covers disciplines like artifact refining and amulet drawing, among other minor categories. The former has fewer students, while the latter attracts more. So, there should be lot of option that the student could choose.
However, the original body didn’t have a choice since the beginning. She doesn’t have a fire-type spiritual vein, so entering the Artifact Refining College was out of the question.
Trying for the Amulet Drawing College could have been an option, but Arthur would never give her that chance.
In case she had genuine talent in drawing amulets, sending her there might lead to a problems later. Thus, upon entering Heavenly Path University, Arthur choose to placed her in the Weaponry Department within the Martial Arts College.
The Weaponry Department specializes in artifacts, but not everyone can afford them.
Just over a month into her time at Heavenly Path University, Mrs. Rodriguez withheld the pocket money Arthur had given her.
As the result, by the end of the semester, she possessed only a defective item in her hand that was much worse than a beginner level artifact.
It was deliberately sold to her by Grace, and by the holiday break, even that defective item had become unusable.
She wasn’t particularly interested in the Weaponry Department; perhaps she might find a bit more interest in unarmed combat style knowledge. Switching here shouldn’t be difficult, but she was more curious about the Artifact Refining College.
For now, she was learning artifact refining by herself, despite having notes in the Soltice Ring; she still didn’t understand Earth’s highest standards in artifact refining.
Regarding the Amulet Drawing College, Amalia quickly dismissed the idea after remembering the few beginner level amulets she had drawn earlier.
"Do you know which college you want to transfer to?" Kenny Lin asked after he saw her checking transfer information.
"The Artifact Refining College," she replied, feeling more or less decided now.
Physically, she might lean more towards the Martial Arts College, given her past proficiency in martial arts.
But for earning money, the Artifact Refining College might be the better option.
The Artifact Refining College had more benefits; due to its scarcity, Heavenly Path University invested more in it.
"That suits you as well, though I think you’d prefer the Martial Arts College," Kenny Lin commented unexpectedly, and surprising Amalia with his insight.
Amalia didn’t respond. She didn’t want to give him a chance to overstep his boundaries.
After preparing the required materials for the transfer, Amalia double-checked everything before submitting the application on Heavenly Path University’s official website.
First-year students had one opportunity to apply for a transfer, and as long as there were no major issues, it usually got approved.
This holiday was a peak period for many new students transferring, so Amalia’s application fit right in without raising any eyebrows.
The next day, the two left the hotel.
Kenny Lin guided her to Master Dugu’s residence.
It was a serene place surrounded by lush greenery. Having made a prior appointment, the gatekeeper verified their identities before letting them in.
A loud and noisy commotion erupted, sounding like firecrackers. The reason is because a wealthy merchant’s son was severely injured, and when he arrived here, he found himself need to wait in line first. So, he was dissatified and insisting that they treat his son first.
However, wealth didn’t grant privileges here as there were too many ’big shots,’ so everyone had to wait their turn.
The merchant’s behavior was quickly halted; the esteemed Master Dugu herself who came out and had both the injured son and the merchant to be thrown out from her place.
Hmm, bad manner means no treatment.
Amalia patiently waited her turn and soon she was called in.
"It’s indeed dipersing bone fragrance," Master Dugu confirmed after examining her symptoms.
"This drug has been lost for a long time, and international law forbids spirit cultivators from using it. You should inform the Spirit Cultivators Association to handle this."
A dosage worth fifty million is quite heavy.
Amalia thought Master Dugu would go straight to the point, not kindly offer such advice.
"Thank you. Can my current condition be treated?" she asked.
"It can be, but it’s a bit troublesome. It needs to be treated in three stages because the stickiness of the dipersing bone fragrance makes it impossible to eradicate in one go."
Amalia frowned, "Is there really no other way? I’m planning to transfer to another departement, and i might be quiet bussy."
Master Dugu shook her head, "There isn’t. The dipersing bone fragrance has been lost for a long time; this is the most conservative treatment."
Amalia’s heart sank, "If it’s in three stages, how long will it take?"
"One month, with each stage lasting ten days," Master Dugu indicated.
"Then let’s begin." Although the duration was long, Amalia had no choice but to accept it.
"However," Master Dugu suddenly interjected, "your situation is somewhat special. Normally, those who get afflicted with dipersing bone fragrance die within a few days, yet you haven’t died, and your cultivation hasn’t decreased. I sensed some energy within you that suppressing the effects of the powder. Perhaps you can seek help from that source."
Amalia’s eyes lit up, "I understand. Thank you, Master Dugu."
"Let’s start then; come with me." Master Dugu led her into a quieter room.
Kenny Lin was waiting outside, his back leaning against the wall, and he wearing a standard baseball cap that pulled low which hiding most of his face.
Although his aura seemed unique and exceptional, everyone here was people who seeking medical help, so few people paid him much attention.
Approximately an hour later, the door was opened.
Amalia emerged from the door, neatly dressed.
"Everything okay?" Kenny Lin asked.
Amalia shook her head, "Let’s talk outside."
Once outside, she relayed Master Dugu’s words to him.
"In three stages," Kenny Lin’s voice murmured lightly, and expressing his amazement.
"What do you want me to do?"
Amalia raised an eyebrow in surprise at his lack of taking advantage this time.
Perhaps his behavior was too obvious; unexpectedly, Kenny Lin wore a look of grievance, and aaid: ’’We’re a couple now. Isn’t it natural for a boyfriend to help his girlfriend? Ah Lia, what’s with that expression? Don’t you trust me?’
"Don’t overdo the act," Amalia warned.
Five days ago, he would never have imagined her relationship with this strange man would develop to this point.
Kenny Lin resumed his enigmatic smile, ’’I’m ust teasing with you...’’
Before he could finish his sentence, his communicator interrupted him.
Amalia glanced at it and walked ahead.
Kenny Lin cut the communication, but messages kept coming persistently from the other end.
’’You’re back in the capital, why haven’t you returned yet? Didn’t I ask you to hurry back last time?’’
Kenny Lin suppressed his smile and replied with two aloof words, ’’Got affairs,’’
He then turned off the communicator and caught up with Amalia.
"How did Master Dugu inform you?" When they reached the hotel, Kenny Lin actively asked in a flattering manner.
"Though one-third of the dipersing bone fragrance has been cleared, it’s still unstable. If I want to use spiritual energy, I need to reinforce it every night; otherwise, there’s a constant threat to my life whenever spiritual energy in my body is being activated," Amalia replied.
Kenny Lin’s expression shifted from surprise to a charming smile, "Doesn’t that mean we’ll be inseparable from now on, every single day?"
A twitch formed at the corner of Amalia’s mouth, "Not necessary. Unless I use spiritual energy, I only need to deal with the current matters of transferring."
"Calling me forth and sending me away at your whim, Ah Lia, you’re too much. Doesn’t your conscience ache when you treating me like this?" Kenny Lin’s expression shifted, pretend to look pitiful.
"It used to a little bit, but not anymore," Amalia said coldly, she then turning around to handle other matters.
Suddenly, Kenny Lin’s voice filled with a teasing tone, "But can you endure not using spiritual energy for over ten days?""
