Chapter 1126: Shadows in the Mecha Bay
Failing to make sense of it all, he pushed the thought aside and sneered, "What are you doing down here? Your mech squad isn’t even stationed here."
"Who said I can’t come down here just because my mech squad isn’t stationed here? Did you make that rule? Does the general know about it?" Kenny Lin, using Xevra’s identity, retorted with a series of pointed questions.
Koryn’s eyes widened in shock.
This was indeed the Xevra he knew—just as insufferable as ever.
"Fine, look around if you want, but don’t say I didn’t warn you. Some things down there aren’t to be messed with. If something happens, not even General Zorik can protect you."
"Relax, I’m not you," Kenny Lin shot back before ignoring him entirely and heading downward.
Koryn ground his teeth in frustration.
What did he mean by "I’m not you"? Was Xevra losing it?
As Koryn turned around to leave, something clicked in his mind.
"Wait a second. I never touch things I shouldn’t. If he’s saying he’s not like me, then that means he’s definitely going to mess with something. I can’t let that happen—I need to keep an eye on him."
Koryn gave up on leaving and turned back, following himclosely behind.
When he saw Kenny Lin’s figure still in sight, he breathed a small sigh of relief.
Kenny Lin had already noticed Koryn’s footsteps.
When he saw him trailing behind, he let out an audible scoff and strode through the corridor exit.
A vast underground space unfolded before him.
It was at least 300 meters high and 1,500 meters long.
The walls and floors were packed densely with countless rows of Cosmorite mechas, numbering in the tens of thousands.
As Kenny Lin moved toward the mechas, Koryn followed closely.
"What are you even doing here? This isn’t your domain. Stop wasting everyone’s time," Koryn said impatiently.
"Then why don’t you leave? Why are you following me?" Kenny Lin glanced at him coldly, his tone as sharp as ever.
Koryn was left speechless by Kenny Lin’s sharp retort, and after a long pause, he sneered, "If I came to your area, would you dare tell me to leave?"
"Why wouldn’t I?" Kenny Lin replied mockingly, casting him a disdainful glance.
Koryn didn’t believe him even for a second, but he found himself growing increasingly irritated.
At the same time, a trace of doubt crept into his mind.
Since when had Xevra become so sharp-tongued?
Kenny Lin extended his divine senses over the Cosmorite mechas in the room.
Just like the ones that Lorrik’s group had used, most of these were Intermediate-grade mechas.
She didn’t spot any Advanced-grade black Cosmorite mechas among them.
"Where’s your Cosmorite mecha?" he asked abruptly.
Koryn hesitated for a moment before realizing he was addressing him.
"Xevra, are you out of your mind? What does my Cosmorite mecha have to do with you?"
Kenny Lin hadn’t really expected him to show him anything.
Beneath the rows of Cosmorite mechas, a cluster of machines was in motion.
It seemed these mechas weren’t just stored here—they were undergoing maintenance or repairs.
He walked slowly to the end of the machines and finally saw the source of the activity.
Above the machinery, a mechanical arm extended and retrieved items from a massive cylindrical container, then inserted them into the Cosmorite mechas.
Koryn noticed his attention was on the machines and immediately grew wary.
Was this person planning to mess with them?
Kenny Lin however, had no need to approach it.
His extended divine senses had already discerned what was inside the cylindrical container.
There were glowing, fist-sized crystals, as if they’d been set ablaze, their fiery red hue unmistakable.
A faint smile crossed Kenny Lin’s face as he finally understood what Amalia had discovered earlier in the Cosmorite mechas: the strange, stone-like objects embedded within them.
They were these very crystals.
"What are you trying to do, Xevra?" Koryn asked, his impatience evident.
"Nothing," Kenny Lin replied casually, turning to face him.
His eyes fixed on him intently with a hint of amusement in their depths.
This alien seemed to be a mech squad captain.
Killing him might cause confusion among the other aliens if they couldn’t locate him.
So, it might not be the best move.
Amalia had advised him to avoid unnecessary trouble for the time being.
Forget it—better to let this alien go for now.
For a brief moment, Koryn felt a chill as Kenny Lin (disguised as Xevra) looked at him.
The sensation was fleeting, vanishing so quickly he couldn’t fully grasp it.
This Xevra has been behaving very strange.
That faint sense of unease grew more pronounced as his actions became more peculiar.
Koryn remembered that Xevra had previously been ordered to investigate the area closest to Lorrik’s ship.
"Thanks for the hospitality," Kenny Lin said with a wave before turning around and leaving.
Koryn who is feel something was wrong opened his communicator and sent a message to Noryn.
He ask him whether he had encountered Xevra during the investigation and if anything about him had seemed unusual.
In the meeting room, Amalia, who didn’t have the privilege of sitting, stood straight behind General Aelra.
Her upright posture was sharp and imposing, like a blade radiating subtle intimidation.
Several generals glanced at her but refrained from saying anything.
"We’ve already delayed far too long. If we don’t produce results soon, the Monarch might hold us accountable. As the supreme commander, General Aelra, you’ll bear the brunt of their anger," General Zorik warned ominously.
"And let’s not forget the embarrassment this has caused—summoning everyone from other planets only to have Shadron vanish without a trace. If word of this spreads..."
"General Zorik, if I recall correctly, this operation was your suggestion," Deputy Vynar calmly interjected.
Zorik’s gaze shifted to Vynar, his smile carrying a hint of mockery.
"Zorik, it’s time you curbed your little schemes," Aelra said coolly, casting him a fleeting glance.
Although his tone was calm, there was a faint chill in his demeanor that hinted at unspoken authority.
