Chapter 110: Going To Royal Durian City
"However, although the effect of Dispersing Bone Fragrance has been slowed down, it’s not completely eliminated. There’s still a risk. The immediate priority is to find someone who can remove it for you. I know someone, but he isn’t in Big Apple City," Kenny Lin said.
"In the Royal Durian City?" Amalia asked, feeling thankful.
Kenny Lin nodded, "Clearing Dispersing Bone Fragrance isn’t simple matter. Once other people get involved, the person helping might face considerable trouble."
"Can you ask him to help? Are there any conditions?" Amalia went straight to the point.
"Well, that depends on her. It’s depend on conditions. Whether he’s willing to help is still uncertain," Kenny Lin leaning on one arm on the sofa as he looked at her.
"You have a way," Amalia stated confidently.
She didn’t believe Kenny Lin would bring it up without a way to convince the other person.
"Smart, but I don’t assist just anyone," Kenny Lin grinned, as if waiting for that response.
"What are your conditions?" Amalia’s face showed no surprise.
Not getting the response he anticipated, Kenny Lin looked disappointed. He turned away, and pouting: "What’s our relationship? Why no reaction? Aren’t you sad?"
Amalia’s eyes said "childish," nearly spoken aloud.
As if they had some significant relationship other than a fragile cohabitation arrangement.
"Wait for me a moment," Kenny Lin maintained his smile and walked toward the balcony.
He activated the communicator and dialed a specific number.
Amalia couldn’t see but heard Kenny Lin scheduling a treatment appointment with the other person. When the price was discussed, it caused her heart to skip a beat.
"Alright, after reaching the Royal Durian City, we can meet her," Kenny Lin returned, and relaying the message.
"Is she trying to rob us?" Amalia lowered her gaze.
Kenny Lin’s smile widened "Exactly, Wood-type spirit cultivators are a bunch of money-grabbers."
"The stronger they are, the more arrogant they become. Hence, they charge higher prices. Your situation is quite severe and requires significant effort, so the price is on the higher side," he added.
Amalia closed her eyes, and cursing in her heart. Fifty million was considered a high price, and now it was gone in the blink of an eye.
Amalia instantly harbored resentment towards Yannis. If its not for him, she wouldn’t have to spend this amount of money.
"When can I move?" Amalia inquired.
"Soon," Kenny Lin replied.
Thinking it would be soon, Amalia relaxed a bit, but she underestimated someone. As night fell, the mischief started.
"Are you hungry?"
"Do you want to take a bath? Shall I carry you?"
"Is lying on the couch uncomfortable? How about I carry you to bed to sleep?"
"You can stay silent, right?" Amalia closed her eyes and her eyelashes were trembling lightly, seemingly enduring something.
"I can," Kenny Lin replied.
Amalia opened her eyes and saw him leaning back against the sofa, arms crossed, and staring at her without blinking. His eyes held indulgence, as if she were an unruly child.
She restrained herself from cursing at him.
Amalia had observed that since she met Kenny Lin, hermental activity was unusually active, which was not a good sign.
"You said it would be soon. Why can’t I move yet?" Amalia proactively changed the subject.
"Tomorrow is also soon," Kenny Lin casually stated.
Deciding to talk less to him tonight, Amalia closed her eyes and began to meditate. However, she soon encountered a problem.
She couldn’t cultivate. Doing so would exacerbate the effects of Dispersing Bone Fragrance, and causing her cultivation base to decline more rapidly.
"Oh, I forgot to remind you, don’t cultivate. It’ll accelerate the Dispersing Bone Fragrance," Kenny Lin suddenly reminded her.
"You could’ve told me earlier," Amalia gritted her teeth.
Kenny Lin chuckled, and said: "I just forgot."
Amalia inquired, "Does that include refining artifacts?"
"Of course," Kenny Lin affirmed.
The next day, Amalia could finally move, but the spiritual energy within her remained sluggish. Any movement of her spiritual energy would activate the Dispersing Bone Fragrance.
Therefore, she couldn’t engage in any cultivation activities until she met the Wood-type spirit cultivator.
Quickly making a decision, Amalia booked two tickets to the Royal Durian City.
"What’s your ID number?"
"Hey, hey, I didn’t say I’m going back to the Royal Durian City yet," Kenny Lin smirked, and a mischievous grin plastered on his face.
"Besides, what’s our relationship? Are you acknowledging our relationship now?"
Without waiting for Amalia’s response, he provided his ID number.
Amalia entered it, and the booking for two tickets was successful.
Her plan was disrupted due to the Dispersing Bone Fragrance. She couldn’t retaliate against Yannis and could only wait for the future.
With no strength at hand now, she wasn’t sure if she could protect herself once she reached the Royal Durian City.
Yannis’s influence extended even beyond the city; with just a move of his fingers, he could crush her.
Amalia had no choice but to find a bodyguard for herself, and Kenny Lin, being readily available, was an unavoidable choice.
"What if I agree?" The order was confirmed, and while Amalia felt relieved, she glanced at Kenny Lin.
Kenny Lin propped his arm on her shoulder, smiling broadly. "As long as you don’t use me up and discard me, I’ll be satisfied."
That was hard to say, considering Amalia’s current mindset.
But she didn’t say anything. Though she believed Kenny Lin wouldn’t leave, what if?
She didn’t want to gamble on that chance.
"You’re thinking too much. Since you’re willing to try, I hope you take it seriously," Amalia said, attempting to comfort and shift the passive role to active.
"Of course!" Kenny Lin replied earnestly.
Amalia had booked tickets for the next morning.
Heavenly Path University would start in three days, and the original plan was to head to the Royal Durian City today.
Both of them had no luggage, and when they arriving empty-handed at the airport, they instantly becoming the center of attention.
"Today’s really my lucky day, dear, look, long legs, both of them is so handsome and beautiful," a woman exclaimed.
Her so-called "dear" glanced over and concluded, "Handsome loyal dog and beautiful cold queen, case closed."
"Ah, I think that woman is also looked very stunning like the man beside her. Look at that cold, unfeeling, and cool demeanor. This is the true cold queen in my dreams... Ah!"
The girl who is not paying attention to the people around her accidentally bumped into someone ahead.
Thankfully, her companion steadied her, and preventing her for makinh an intimate encounter with the ground.
By the time they reacted, the handsome guy had vanished.
"A cold queen," Kenny Lin’s gaze, akin to X-ray vision, and scanned Amalia up and down.
"I agree with that."
The two girls thought their conversation wouldn’t be overheard, yet little did they know that spirit cultivators had sharp senses. Even from dozens of meters away, they could catch snippets of conversations.
As soon as Amalia saw Kenny Lin’s playful expression, she knew what he was about to say. Without missing a beat, she glanced at him indifferently.
Kenny Lin put hands on his pockets, and casually walked: "Do you want to define our relationship now?"
"Where’s your face?" Amalia left him with a playful tap on the back of his head.
"I almost drowned in the embrace of the cold queen," Kenny Lin retorted mischievously.
He referred to the scene yesterday morning when he deliberately buried himself in Amalia’s chest.
At that moment, Amalia felt numb and didn’t have much sensation. However, it was indeed an intimate moment between them.
Now when she recalling it again, she suddently felt embarassed, so she immediately banished it from her mind.
While queuing to collect their tickets, Amalia received a call from Arthur and handed the ticket materials to Kenny Lin.
"Does my uncle have something to tell me?" Amalia switched the video call to an audio call.
"Alex and Grace are going to the Royal Durian City tomorrow. Your uncle has also booked a ticket for you. Come over tomorrow morning," Arthur didn’t ask for her opinion but informed her of the decision.
"No need, Uncle. I’m already at the airport."
"Why didn’t you inform your uncle first?" Arthur sounded displeased.
"When Uncle booked the ticket, didn’t you also not ask me? You’re just informing me now," Amalia retorted with a change in tone.
Hearing what Amalia’s had saying, Arthur’s expression grew stern, "Are you questioning me? I’m also considering your well-being, think about your foster parents. You wouldn’t want them to worry about you, right?"
That was a subtle threat.
If it was four days ago, Amalia might have wavered.
But now...
"Not at all," Amalia replied, not bothering to be diplomatic.
"Is Little Amalia getting defiant now, and not even listening to Uncle?" Arthur provocatively joked.
Amalia fell silent for a moment, "Uncle, you’re overthinking it. I’m an adult now. I don’t want to trouble you anymore. If there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up."
She then cut the call directly without giving Arthur a chance to say another word.
