Chapter 1079: The Young Master’s Bond
Gor’kan speculated, "Perhaps the Young Master is still processing the inheritance he just received. After all, this is the inheritance of the Beast God. It’s not something easily absorbed."
Kenny Lin smirked as he nudged Wealth’s body with his foot. "Are you sure this is about absorbing the inheritance? Then what’s with the snoring?"
Gor’kan’s face stiffened awkwardly. "Perhaps that’s just how the Young Master’s breathing sounds."
Kenny Lin scoffed, "He’s been with me and Amalia long enough for me to recognize it. This is clearly his usual snoring while he sleeps. Don’t give me nonsense about ’absorbing inheritance.’ We’ve been out there fighting for our lives, and he’s been napping in here. As his father, I think I need to have a good talk with him."
The three Pixiu turned to Amalia for help.
Amalia grabbed Kenny Lin’s arm. "Let it go. Maybe after being in seclusion for over two months, he’s just tired. After all, he’s still young."
"Exactly! The Young Master is just over two years old," the three Pixiu nodded in agreement.
When Amalia and Kenny Lin had first encountered Wealth, many people had assumed that the little guy had lived for many years.
In truth, he was barely over a year old at the time.
Thanks to his high-born bloodline, he developed intelligence almost immediately after birth, enabling him to evade human hunters and exhibit surprisingly human-like behavior.
Amalia stepped forward, grabbed Wealth by the scruff of his neck, and lifted him.
The three Pixiu watched anxiously.
Wasn’t this a little bit rough?
But they didn’t dare voice their concerns. Not only were Amalia and Kenny Lin the saviors of their young master, but they had also saved the three of them.
"Don’t hold him like that. His fur feels like golden needles—it’s prickly," Kenny Lin commented.
Just as he finished speaking, Wealth’s stiff golden fur suddenly softened, each strand relaxing and gently swaying.
The three Pixiu were wide-eyed with amazement.
It was well known that both pureblood Nine Heaven Pixiu and hybrid Pixiu had fur that naturally served as a defense mechanism.
They only relaxed this defense around people with whom they shared a deeply intimate bond.
Now, they were utterly convinced.
The young master’s closeness with Amalia and Kenny Lin wasn’t just ordinary—it was truly extraordinary.
"What’s going on with Wealth’s cultivation?" Amalia asked as she lifted him.
When they had first parted ways, Wealth was very weak, only at the Qi Refining Stage.
On Mystic Void Continent, any random cultivator could have crushed him with ease.
Yet, after only a few months, he seemed to have skyrocketed like a rocket, leaping from the Qi Refining Stage all the way to the Body Integration Stage.
He had even surpassed his parent’s cultivation, reaching the Integration Stage before them.
"The Land of Inheritance contains gifts left by the Beast God," Gor’kan explained. "I suspect that if it weren’t for the need to repair the spatial rifts, all of that energy would have been reserved for the Young Master. Perhaps it might have even allowed him to break through directly to the Mahayana Stage."
There was a sense of regret in his tone, although not entirely.
After all, if those spatial rifts hadn’t been repaired, the Forbidden Grounds might have been destroyed.
This was the inheritance of the Nine Heaven Pixiu clan.
If the Forbidden Grounds were ruined, the future Pixiu would no longer be able to receive the inheritance.
The Beast God had likely sensed this, which is why the Phantom of the Beast God had chosen to repair the spatial rifts at the critical moment.
After exhausting its energy, the phantom had completely dissipated.
"Oh, right, the eggs!" Gor’kan suddenly recalled and led Amalia further inside.
It wasn’t long before they came upon the eggs.
Dozens of eggs were piled in a corner, unguarded by any special protections—the Land of Inheritance itself served as their protective shell.
"Amalia, is the Living Ring you mentioned earlier already repaired?" the three Pixiu asked eagerly, their eyes fixed on her.
Amalia carefully placed one of the eggs inside her small world, setting it in the hut within.
She discovered that her small world, vast as it was, allowed her to place items wherever she wished.
After a while, she took the egg back out.
"Check this egg to see if anything’s wrong," she said.
The three Pixiu immediately and thoroughly examined the egg before shaking their heads. "We can’t see anything unusual."
"These eggs have already been here for many years," Gor’kan said with a hint of helplessness. "We can’t even be sure if they can still hatch. Back when the three of us hatched, it was thanks to the elders pouring their lifelong efforts into the process."
Amalia nodded and then stored all the eggs within her small world.
"Don’t worry. We’ll have Wealth take care of hatching them daily. As a member of the Nine Heaven Pixiu clan, he’ll surely be willing," Kenny Lin said with a chuckle.
Although his words held no clear malice, the three Pixiu somehow felt an overwhelming sense of "bad intentions."
"Alright, take a look around and see if there’s anything else we can take with us. The situation outside doesn’t look great, and we need to prepare," Amalia instructed.
After speaking, she retrieved the treasures she had previously stored in her small world.
When they had been under siege earlier, she had hidden the treasures to prevent the powerful foes from taking them.
Now that the enemies in the Forbidden Grounds had been dealt with, there was no longer a need for her to keep them.
After some discussion, Gor’kan and Zhar’khaen each selected a few heavenly treasures that would be useful to them and left the rest untouched.
"What are you doing?" Amalia asked, raising an eyebrow.
Although Gor’kan had said earlier that they could take all the treasures, she had never intended to claim them all.
The Phoenix Feather she had taken earlier was already more than sufficient for her.
