Chapter 1058: The Hunt for Power

It was undeniable—the Sky Viewing Mirror was a heaven-defying artifact.

Even within the formation, it could see through illusions and expose reality.

Although it appeared as if the intruders had been scattered across various locations, in truth, they were still within different corners of the palace.

The illusion merely made their surroundings appear vastly different.

Through the mirror, Kenny Lin saw a powerful devil in his vicinity.

A portal flashed briefly on the mirror’s surface, and using it, Kenny Lin stepped through to appear directly behind the devil.

The devil sensed the disturbance too late.

A piercing sword light cleaved downward.

Feeling the corrosive force of the sword energy on its back, the devil panicked and immediately abandoned its body, letting its soul escape.

As the disembodied soul fled, it turned back, desperate to see who had killed it.

It vowed that, once it found a new host body, it would seek revenge.

Just as this thought crossed its mind, a massive suction force pulled at it from behind.

Before it could even turn around, its soul was dragged backward.

"No!" The soul struggled, only to see a wisp of black mist rush toward it, devouring it in an instant.

"The essence is truly extraordinary."

The black mist returned to the Yin-Yang Pearl, and Kenny Lin immediately felt the energy it transmitted.

His strength grew slightly stronger.

"If just a lord level devil has such a significant effect, then a king level devil must be even more beneficial."

Kenny Lin licked his lips and waved his hand.

The Sky Viewing Mirror flickered through countless scenes, but he regretfully discovered that the king level devils were relatively far from him.

Amalia was still in the treasury, repairing the Soltice Ring.

He couldn’t stray too far; if those intruders found the treasury, all their efforts would be in vain.

Kenny Lin sighed, resigning himself to abandon the pursuit.

In various corners of the palace, several king level devils suddenly shuddered, a chill rising through their bodies.

Yet, just as quickly as it appeared, the cold sensation dissipated, as though it had been a mere illusion.

"Everyone, we need to move faster. These Body Integration stage cultivators are immensely destructive. I’m worried they’ll break the formation. The beast puppets can only handle those below the Body Integration stage. For anyone above that, you’ll have to deal with them yourselves," Vryss’laar’s voice echoed in the ears of the three.

"Don’t worry. If you can’t hold on, let us know. Zhar’khaen will step in for you," Gor’kan’s voice replied.

"I understand." Vryss’laar fed more of his blood into the formation core, feeling a faint weakness creeping through his body. He quickly consumed a Spiritual Recovering Berry.

"I’ll leave the human cultivators and demonic beast to you for now. As for these devils, I’ll handle them. Once I’m done with them, Amalia should be finished, and we’ll come to assist you," Kenny Lin said before retracting his communication jade slip.

Gor’kan and Zhar’khaen wanted to say more, but Kenny Lin had already severed the connection.

"Gor’kan, do you think he can handle it alone? I remember back at Silent Echo Valley, his cultivation was only at the Nascent Soul stage. Now, two months later, he’s somehow reached the peak of the Deity Transformation stage. Even if his talent is extraordinary, such rapid progress can’t fully unleash his potential," Zhar’khaen said worriedly, sensing from his tone that he intended to quickly deal with the devils.

"I don’t know. All we can do now is leave it to fate. If we can hold the line, so be it. If not, we must at least ensure the young master escapes," Gor’kan took a deep breath, already resolved to sacrifice himself if necessary.

Zhar’khaen shared his sentiments.

Their opponents this time were far too numerous.

With only five of them—only Gor’kan at the Integration stage—they stood no chance against dozens of Body Integration stage powerhouses.

Kenny Lin wanted to deal with those devils himself—their soul essences had a boosting effect on his own cultivation.

However, they were simply too far away.

After a moment of lamentation, an idea suddenly struck him.

He took out a communication jade slip and directly contacted Vryss’laar, who was stationed at the formation core.

"Can you teleport the devils closer to me?"

Vryss’laar paused for a moment, startled. "Why do you want them teleported to you?"

"Killing these devils benefits me. They can help enhance my cultivation," Kenny Lin explained succinctly.

"Understood." Vryss’laar agreed without hesitation.

Although it would consume the energy of the formation, if Kenny Lin could use it to break through to the Body Integration stage, their chances of success would improve significantly.

"Which one do you want me to teleport first?" Vryss’laar asked.

"Send me a weaker one first." Kenny Lin was self-aware enough to know his limits.

He had to progress gradually; biting off more than he could chew would only lead to trouble—and if he failed, how would he protect Amalia?

Vryss’laar thought for a moment.

Among the devils present, Azrakar seemed to be the weakest.

His aura was still powerful, but it didn’t carry the oppressive weight of the others.

With that in mind, Vryss’laar used the power of the formation to teleport Azrakar to Kenny Lin’s vicinity.

"It’s done. Please, be careful," Vryss’laar warned.

Azrakar had been searching for the Pixiu when he encountered a human cultivator and a demonic beast.

The human cultivator was instantly killed by him.

Ever since Aarzostes had fallen to a human cultivator, Azrakar had taken to killing any human he encountered.

In his fury, he would sometimes skin and dismember his victims—a truly literal execution of the phrase—and hang their bodies outside.

His gruesome deeds had struck terror into human cultivators on the devil battlefield.

The demonic beast didn’t fare any better; Azrakar dispatched it swiftly and cleanly.

Still unsatisfied, he was preparing to destroy the area and move on to find others when the scene before his eyes abruptly shifted.

Azrakar felt his body being compressed.
