Chapter 1034: The Unknown Stone

Tian Wuya finished speaking and tossed the Inverse Emperor Bell to them. "Keep this Inverse Emperor Bell hidden. Until you have absolute power, do not let anyone know you possess it. No matter how renowned me and Lian Qinglan are, there will always be those people who are willing to take risks."

"The Mystic Void Continent is far vaster than you can imagine. If someone steals this treasure from you, they could disappear into obscurity for years, waiting for their strength to grow. Once they reemerge, they won’t fear us anymore."

"Do not underestimate the cultivators of the Mystic Void Continent. Sometimes, a false gentleman can be far more dangerous than an open villain."

"Disciple will remember your teachings, Master," Amalia said with a respectful nod.

Tian Wuya nodded lightly, preparing to return to her seclusion.

"Master, there’s one more item. Your disciple doesn’t recognize what it is and would like you to take a look," Amalia said, bringing out the strange stone they had found earlier.

Tian Wuya glanced at the stone and let out a curious hum.

"Master, do you recognize this stone? Kenny tested it earlier, and the sword energy was not only repelled but reflected back. Even divine sense cannot penetrate it," Amalia explained.

"This stone is peculiar. Even I do not recognize it. It doesn’t seem like a material for crafting artifacts but rather a treasure born of heaven and earth itself," Tian Wuya replied, shaking her head.

Amalia wasn’t surprised or disappointed. If her master had recognized it, she could have saved herself the trouble of researching. However, if even her master didn’t know what it was, there might not be any records of it anywhere.

As expected, her master spoke again in the next moment.

"Even something I cannot recognize—no matter how many texts you comb through, you may not find an answer. On the Mystic Void Continent, there are very few people with knowledge exceeding your master’s," said Tian Wuya, a hint of pride in her tone.

That smug expression bore a striking resemblance to Kenny Lin’s. No wonder Master Lian occasionally sighed, claiming their apprentices had been swapped by mistake.

"So, you’re saying there are a few people who might know?" Kenny Lin quipped, completely unafraid of consequences.

Tian Wuya’s sharp eyes shot him a glare.

"Watch your words. Don’t speak to my master like that," Amalia chided, giving Kenny Lin a firm smack on the back before turning to ask, "Master, do you think anyone might recognize the origins of this stone?"

"Dao Han might know. In his youth, he had an obsession with reading all sorts of ancient texts. He’s read more than Qinglan and I combined. If there’s anything on the Mystic Void Continent that even he doesn’t know, then don’t bother looking further—nobody else will know, either."

Amalia nodded, mentally noting to find time later to consult the Great Elder.

"Wait," Amalia called out just as Tian Wuya was about to leave. After hesitating briefly, she said, "This time, during the Path of All Immortals, I don’t think we found a way to ascend."

"Then you didn’t find one. So be it," replied Tian Wuya, hrr tone indifferent.

"But..." Amalia seemed troubled.

"There’s no but. So many years have passed already. If it truly comes to that, I finally could reunite with my husband," she said, her voice calm and steady.

With that, Tian Wuya turned around and vanished abruptly.

"It seems my Master still hasn’t let go of her husband, even after all these years," Amalia murmured, deeply moved.

Kenny Lin stepped closer and said, "If I were in her position, I wouldn’t let go either, no matter how much time passed. But unlike her, I wouldn’t stop there."

Amalia gave him a sidelong glance. "Unlike my master how? By not reminiscing in a small hut?"

"There won’t be any reminiscing without a future," Kenny Lin said with a faint smile.

Amalia suddenly froze. "What do you mean, no future?"

Squinting his eyes, Kenny Lin replied in a soft but chilling tone, "If that day ever came, what meaning would this world hold for me? Unless the dead could return to life, I’d make sure to slaughter everyone first. So, you’d better not give me that chance."

Amalia’s gaze shifted away, her heart skipping a beat. "You’ll never have that chance."

"Good," Kenny Lin said, his tone lighter.

The two tacitly dropped the subject and returned to sorting through the treasures.

The three most significant boxes had already been opened, leaving the rest as mid-to-upper-tier items. Kenny Lin alone had seized eight boxes—five large and three small. His reasoning for choosing so many large boxes was simple: larger boxes held more items, and since their rankings were equal, the large boxes must surely have greater value.

To their surprise, one of the boxes contained nothing but immortal spring water.

While the immortal spring water was no longer of much use to them, it was highly beneficial to the small wandering spirit inside the Spirit Gathering Gourd.

Kenny Lin glanced at the small wandering spirit that was cultivating inside the gourd, then at the box he had painstakingly captured. For a moment, he was tempted to throw the box across the room.

Amalia immediately took the box of immortal spring water and put it away. "If we had known earlier that these boxes could hold immortal spring water, we could’ve stored more of it."

"What’s the point of storing more if we can’t even use it?" Kenny Lin replied, clearly unenthusiastic.

"That’s not necessarily true. This stuff seems to have significant effects on the soul. In the future, if we accidentally damage our primordial spirits, or if someone else needs it, it could come in handy. Plus, this box seems to have a larger internal space than it appears."

Amalia weighed the box in her hands. It was light enough to lift easily, but it was clear that the immortal spring water inside defied the proportions of the box’s physical size.

"In any case, let’s just keep it. It doesn’t hurt to have it."
