Chapter 1028: Master Lian Appeared (Part 3)

"I’m surprised that you’re still remembers me," the Fairy Girl Ahyeon Xuan replied, a smile softening the harsh lines of her aged face.

"I shared a drink with your master once, so of course I remember. A thousand years ago, you didn’t look like this," Master Lian said, a faint glimmer of nostalgia passing through his eyes as he smiled.

He had lived for nearly ten thousand years, and many of the acquaintances from his youth had long disappeared from his life.

The Fairy Girl Ahyeon Xuan showed a hint of bashfulness. With a wave of her hand, the disguise on her face disappeared. Though her outfit remained unchanged, the wrinkled face of an old woman transformed into one of breathtaking beauty.

"Given my age, it’s more convenient to use a different face when traveling," she explained.

For Hayeon Ren, this was the first time seeing her master’s true appearance, and the revelation left her deeply shaken. It had been centuries since this face was last shown.

The Fairy Girl Ahyeon Xuan finished her explanation and took out three ornate boxes, offering them with both hands. "Master Lian, you once saved my life. Now, your disciples have saved mine. As a token of gratitude, please accept these items, which were obtained in the Path of All Immortals."

The three boxes floated toward Master Lian, but she waved his hand, sending them back.

"There is no need. Your disciples’ safe return is owed to their steadfast hearts and unity. Without that, they would not have survived."

The Fairy Girl Ahyeon Xuan hesitated before nodding and putting the boxes away. "Very well."

She realized her persistence had been rash. If she insisted on giving the gifts, other sects would likely feel pressured to offer their own finds from the Path of All Immortals. Relinquishing those treasures would be difficult, and refusing could sow resentment, even if Master Lian harbored no intent to exploit her kindness. No matter the outcome, it would only create trouble for the Green Lotus Sect.

"I owe you my life, Master Lian. If you ever require assistance in the future, as long as it does not go against my principles, I, Ahyeon Xuan, will give it my all," she said sincerely, shifting the conversation back to the debt between them.

"Then, we Divine Maiden Sect shall take our leave."

After the Fairy Girl Ahyeon Xuan departed with her disciples on their flying boat, other sects also approached Master Lian to pay their respects before departing.

"Let us leave as well," Master Lian said, raising her hand to summon her flying boat.

This vessel was even larger and more luxurious than Tan Kai’s, standing in stark contrast to his typically austere and noble demeanor.

"Master, this flying boat doesn’t seem like your style. Did someone else choose it for you?" Kenny Lin remarked after exploring the interior and returning to his side.

Master Lian responded with a faint hum, seating himself cross-legged on a raised platform.

"If you don’t like it, why not give it to me?" Kenny Lin suggested eagerly. The extravagant style suited him perfectly.

Master Lian glanced at him. "This flying boat is costly, crafted with only the finest materials. You certainly don’t hesitate to ask for things."

"With your status, there isn’t a single place in Mystic Void Continent you can’t reach. This flying boat probably sits unused for millennia. Such an extraordinary vessel should be shown off. The person who built it clearly intended for others to admire it."

"You certainly have a way with nonsense," Master Lian said with a shake of her head. "While I may not have much use for it, I cannot give it to you. This flying boat was a gift from an old friend."

Kenny Lin turned around to Amalia and declared, "We’ll craft our own someday—bigger, more extravagant, and more comfortable. This one just screams a lack of imagination from its owner."

Amalia stifled a laugh, shaking her head. "You’re just bitter because you can’t have it."

"Enough joking. Let’s get down to business," Master Lian said, casting a barrier around them again.

Tan Kai, noticing the barrier, refrained from approaching and left them to their discussion.

Kenny Lin shrugged. "Alright, let’s talk business. I didn’t expect Master to have admirers. That Ahyeon Xuan seemed rather fond of you."

"How is your condition now?" Master Lian, familiar with her disciple’s antics, ignored his remark and redirected the conversation.

"I’m fine. I just didn’t expect you, Master, to still have admirers at your age," Kenny Lin said, feigning a sigh of amazement.

Amalia elbowed him. "Mind your own business. Why are you so concerned about your master’s love life?"

"It’s my duty as a disciple. I can’t just watch my Master spend eternity alone. He’s nearing ten thousand years! If people find out that I, a man in my twenties, already have a wife, but my master is still single, what will they think? I’m just worried his prolonged bachelorhood might take a toll on his health. A ten-thousand-year-old single man is unheard of!"

Amalia choked on a laugh, coughing as she gave him a sharp glare. "You really dare to say anything, don’t you?"

Master Lian raised an eyebrow. "I wasn’t aware my disciple’s responsibilities extended to my personal affairs."

"See? You didn’t choose the wrong disciple. No one else’s disciples care this much about their masters," Kenny Lin replied with a hint of pride.

"I may be regretting it now," Master Lian said dryly. He had indeed misjudged him, expecting a disciple as aloof as himself.

Turning his head to Amalia, Master Lian continued, "You were able to traverse the Path of Chaos. I presume you possess a Chaos-type Spiritual Vein?"

"Yes, though it’s weak, so I never noticed it," Amalia admitted honestly.

"That makes sense. If your Chaos-type Spiritual Vein were as strong as your Fire-type Spiritual Vein, your master and I would have detected it long ago. What did you see inside?"

Amalia took a moment to gather her thoughts. "I saw an Immortal River collapsing and then an immense battle among immortals. The Path of Chaos seems to record events from the Immortal Realm, though I did not see what caused the war."
