Forest Ranger: Starting with a Giant Panda Mom Clinging to Me -
Chapter 38 - Taking Down a Hornet’s Nest
Chapter 38: Taking Down a Hornet’s Nest
As expected, after the pangolin started eating the bees swarming around Panda Mom, the bees caught the scent of their natural predator and didn’t dare come closer.
The bees finally left Panda Mom alone. At this point, her nose was swollen from bee stings. Fortunately, she hadn’t been stung by the hornets.
“Phew …” Seeing the bees disperse, Lin Tian let out a sigh of relief. He turned back and patted Panda Mom’s head. “You, don’t bring danger toward me next time. I don’t want to end up swollen like a pig’s head like you.”
“Ying~”
Panda Mom, clutching the beehive, shook her head and glanced at Lin Tian. Then, she offered the hive to him with a placating look, as if aware she’d messed up.
“Fine.” Lin Tian sighed, not really mad at her.
His gaze shifted to the beehive in her paws. By now, she’d torn it open halfway, and a flood of golden wild honey oozed out, filling the air with a sweet aroma.
He couldn’t help but swallow hard.
> “Wow, that looks so good!”
> “Brother Tian, are you selling this honey? I’ll buy—200 yuan a jin, free shipping!”
> “I want some too, I’ll pay 300 a jin!”
> “I’ll do 500 a jin!”
> “Are you guys crazy? It’s that valuable?!”
…
The live stream audience was drooling over the honey, bidding wildly. But Lin Tian had no intention of selling. This was Panda Mom’s hard-earned prize, after all.
Plus, wild honey was highly nutritious and tasted far better than store-bought. Selling it would be a waste. He’d keep it for himself—perfect for spreading on bread or mixing into tea.
“Panda Mom, I’ll hold onto it. We’ll squeeze out the honey when we get back.”
Lin Tian took the beehive from her. If she kept holding it, she’d likely spill the honey and waste it.
“Ying ying…”
Panda Mom stared longingly at the honey, clearly craving it, but she trusted Lin Tian and agreed. Lin Tian pulled a bag from his backpack and carefully placed the beehive inside. Then, they continued on their way.
Along the journey, Panda Mom kept pawing at the backpack, occasionally licking the bag with the beehive to satisfy her craving.
Lin Tian watched, exasperated. If he weren’t carrying it, she’d probably have eaten it all by now.
The pangolin was also eyeing the honey greedily. The Chinese Alligator, however, wasn’t interested—being a carnivore, it didn’t care much for honey unless it was infused with spiritual water.
On the way back, Lin Tian kept walking. Suddenly, Panda Mom spotted something and excitedly rushed to the base of a large tree.
She looked up, then eagerly started climbing.
Curious, Lin Tian followed her gaze. At the top of the tree was a small beehive.
Good grief. Had Panda Mom gotten addicted to stealing bee hives? Was she about to swipe another one?
> “???”
> “Hahaha, Panda Mom’s going to raid another bee’s home!”
> “Bees: You just wrecked one of my houses, and now you’re hitting another? Have you no manners?!”
> “Panda Mom: Charge!”
…
The live stream audience saw her antics and cracked up.
Lin Tian, however, was resigned.
Oh well. If Panda Mom loved eating honey, let her grab it. He just felt bad for the bees.
They were minding their own business, building their nest and collecting honey, when this bear bandit showed up. This time, Lin Tian was prepared. He quickly moved to a safe distance to avoid a repeat of Panda Mom running toward him with a hive.
He found a high slope and finally had a chance to closely inspect the hive on the tree. Something seemed off.
The bees looked … kind of big.
Wait a second—those weren’t bees! They were hornets! Good grief, it was a hornet’s nest!
The live stream audience, watching through the camera, also saw the scene and were startled by the dense swarm of hornets.
> “Holy crap! That’s a hornet’s nest!”
> “So many hornets!”
> “Panda Mom’s in danger! Hornets are super venomous!”
> “Danger, danger!!”
…
“Panda Mom, stop!”
Lin Tian immediately leaped out and shouted at her. Panda Mom, halfway up the tree, froze at his call. But it was too late.
Her paw had already swatted the hornet’s nest!
Thud!
—Bzzz bzzz bzzz!!!
The hornet’s nest crashed to the ground. The swarm of hornets inside exploded in fury! They were used to raiding others’ nests—nobody had ever dared to raid theirs! Enraged, the hornets chased after the nearest scent.
The primary target? Panda Mom, still on the tree.
