Forest Ranger, starting from Picking Up a Lynx Girl
Chapter 421 - 415: Surprise or Not, Their Back Doors Connect (Two in One)

"Ancient figures used the emperor to command the princes,"

Chen Ying held a baby bird to lure the peacocks.

A flock of female peacocks followed behind Chen Ying, hopping forward in a scene that was quite amusing.

The Green Peacock lingered in the rear, looking distressed and occasionally glancing around as if planning something mischievous.

After walking a third of the way, they reached a fork in the road at the edge of the village, where the peacocks needed to glide down into the river valley.

Chen Ying couldn't possibly continue to lead them; the baby bird he held in his hands couldn't fly. It either had to hop down with its mother or rely on Chen Ying to take it down.

Little Bai took the initiative to come out of its pocket and swam toward the path above.

Chen Ying couldn't figure out what it wanted to do, thinking it was either hungry or wanting to get some fresh air, so he watched it for a moment before ignoring it.

After Little Bai swam away for a bit, it cautiously climbed a tree and, making sure Chen Ying's entire attention was on the flock of birds, it came down from the tree and rapidly slithered through the grass towards the Green Peacock.

The male was still looking around, not expecting danger to be hurdling towards it.

Little Bai moved swiftly like a streak of white lightning, charging at the male peacock.

It didn't intend to kill the Green Peacock but quickly wrapped itself around its neck, biting down on the crown feathers on its head.

The Green Peacock, found to its shock that there was a snake on its body, instinctively spread its wings and hopped, jumping down the mountainside.

Peacocks can't fly, but they're good at gliding.

There's an ethereal beauty when they flutter and glide through the air.

It's said that a park in Dian Province has a fixed program of peacock flying every day, where tourists have to arrive very early to secure a spot to capture satisfactory photos.

Now one could witness the spectacle of a flock of peacocks gliding without going there, and it was free.

Just… what's with the white stripe on that male peacock's neck?

Chen Ying, holding the baby bird, looked up for a while, until the flock of peacocks safely reached the gentle slope next to the river valley, and he finally relaxed the breath he had been holding.

Then he clearly saw the white stripe moving on the male peacock's body, and the female peacocks around it were gathering, looking like they wanted to peck off that white stripe.

Chen Ying didn't need to think to know that it must be Little Bai causing trouble.

The critter, not able to speak and yet cunning as ever, was extremely good at causing commotion, about to take the top spot as his biggest headache.

He ran down quickly, managing to pluck Little Bai from the neck of the Green Peacock before the great battle between the peacock and the White snake erupted.

And just as he did so, the Green Peacock pecked at the back of Chen Ying's hand, drawing blood.

Little Bai paused for a moment, then instantly tightened its coils, apparently preparing to strangle the Green Peacock.

Director Guo and the others, who had followed down, saw Chen Ying's hand bleeding and were startled, rushing over to ask what had happened.

"It was pecked by this peacock, but it should be fine, just a small cut, some skin came off."

Chen Ying took out antiseptic and a cotton ball from his waist pack to treat himself, placing the medical waste in a specially made bag attached to his waist pack.

Director Guo took his hand for a look, the wound was indeed not big, but a bit deep, and the cotton balls couldn't seem to stop the bleeding.

The Green Peacock probably didn't expect to have hurt a Two-legged beast because at that moment, it was standing with its partners on a grassy area across the river, watching Director Guo and his group warily.

This little family was quite bold compared to others. Normal Green Peacocks would never approach humans so closely, disappearing at the slightest hint of people passing by.

This group's courage was quite extraordinary compared to its fellow species, enough to defy heaven.

Little Bai, hanging from the nearby tree, kept following Chen Ying's movements, and upon closer inspection, one can tell that its gaze was locked on Chen Ying's wound.

After watching for a good while, Little Bai lifted its head, its pupils reddening even more.

Chen Ying intended to tell Director Guo that he would head back first since this side of things was already over. He had nothing to do if he stayed, and there were a pile of matters waiting for him at home.

While talking to Director Guo, his gaze swept over the tree branches, and he suddenly felt a chill on his scalp.

Little Bai had disappeared again.

This guy, was it actually intending to fight the Green Peacock to the death?

"Quick, Director Guo, help me look for Little Bai, this little critter has run off somewhere again."

Director Guo wasn't foolish either, rushing first towards where the Green Peacocks were.

The flock of birds, with a flurry of flapping wings, dodged and jumped away.

Just as the Green Peacock was about to land on a branch, Little Bai, who had hidden there, bit at its leg.

The Peacock let out a loud cry, narrowly avoiding the attack and attempting to turn around to peck Little Bai to death.

Little Bai raised its head, preparing to spray venom.

Chen Ying rushed over, not daring to interrupt Little Bai as it charged up, as the male peacock didn't seem quite intelligent, and communicating with it seemed difficult.

It belonged to the muscle-headed bully type.

The other peacocks were a bit nervous too. As birds, they were natural enemies with snakes since many snakes steal bird eggs.

But similarly, when snakes are young, birds can treat them as if they were chewy snacks.

The Green Peacock might be a bit brainless, but it was not without strength.

In a life-or-death moment, it summoned the majesty of its ancestral Peacock King, fixing its eyes sternly on Little Bai.

Honestly, unless the venom spray hit the eyes directly, it would be useless if it landed on the feathers – it wouldn't have any attack power.

Snake venom needed to enter the body to be effective.

And with the complex and dense feathers surrounding the peacock, Little Bai's attack was likely to fail.
