Chapter 245 When Can I Hold My Great-Granddaughter

Chapter 245: Chapter 245 When Can I Hold My Great-Granddaughter

The next morning, Serena Summers got out of bed and came downstairs, only to find that a guest had arrived at the house.

It was someone she knew.

"Serena, Professor Parker is here to see you," Master Shaw beckoned to Serena Summers, then turned to Professor Parker and said, "I am not very clear about this matter, it needs professionals like you to discuss."

He spoke seamlessly, leaving no room for fault, and Professor Parker smiled, his gaze resting on Serena.

"Serena, long time no see. I have been really busy lately, and only now have I got the chance to see you."

Serena walked to the sofa and politely greeted Professor Parker, then sat down beside Master Shaw, "Professor Parker, did you need to see me for something?"

"It’s nothing serious, I just wanted to ask about Lucas’s condition. You know, I was treating him before you came, so now that I have some free time, I just wanted to check in." Professor Parker sat gracefully in the sofa, sipping his tea gently.

With a gentle curve at the corners of his mouth.

Serena frowned slightly, albeit imperceptibly, and smiled, "He has almost fully recovered, thank you for your concern, Professor."

"Almost fully recovered? Did you find an antidote?" Professor Parker paused with his teacup in hand, his tone suddenly becoming excited.

Master Shaw also began to smile upon mentioning his grandson’s improvement, "Yes, it’s all thanks to Serena. Otherwise, I really wouldn’t know what to do."

Master Shaw’s eyes were slightly moist, but his smile deepened.

Serena patted Master Shaw’s back and comforted, "It’s okay, Grandpa, everything will be alright."

Professor Parker asked seriously, "Serena, how did you manage it? Can you tell me? I’ve lived so many years and have never seen such a miracle. It’s quite unexpected."

Both Professor Parker and Master Shaw’s gaze fell on Serena, awaiting her answer.

Although Master Shaw was not versed in medicine, he was also curious about how Serena had achieved it.

Serena smiled lightly and explained briefly, "Actually, I combined Chinese and Western medicine, using acupuncture, medicinal baths, Chinese herbs, along with detoxifying agents cultivated from serum. That was enough."

Her brief explanation left Master Shaw somewhat bewildered.

But Professor Parker nodded understandingly, ponderingly rotating the teacup in his hand.

Knowing he would not be able to inquire further, Professor Parker exchanged a few more pleasantries with Master Shaw before taking his leave.

"Serena, did you keep something from Professor Parker just now?" Master Shaw, savoring his tea, asked leisurely.

Serena was startled, not expecting Master Shaw to see through her so easily.

She nodded and explained, "Grandpa, you said it yourself, ’One should not be completely unguarded against others,’ especially since this matter concerns both mine and Lucas’s lives."

"Yes, you did the right thing," Master Shaw nodded in approval, with a look of satisfaction in his eyes.

He poured a cup of tea and handed it to Serena, continuing, "Actually, I think the same as you. Professor Parker, besides you, understands Lucas’s condition best, but that’s all the more reason to be cautious."

If no harm would come to Lucas Shaw or the Shaw Family from him, then naturally, that would be best.

But if he were to use this information against the Shaw Family, it could be a deadly blow.

The economic lifeline of the Shaw Family was all in Lucas’s hands; if something were to happen to him, unless this old man personally took action, the remaining two wouldn’t be able to hold things together.

When Lucas Shaw returned from work, he saw Master Shaw chatting with Serena.

The two of them were drinking tea and laughing together, in harmony and congeniality.

He smiled and stepped forward, "Grandpa, Serena."

"Back already?" Master Shaw pointed to the sofa opposite him, a smile on his aged face, "Have a seat and drink some tea, this is the latest tea I’ve acquired, you should try it too."

"Grandpa, what do I know about tea?" Lucas Shaw sighed helplessly but still obediently took a seat.

As soon as he sat down, he waved to Serena Summers and then patted the spot next to him, "Come here."

Master Shaw harrumphed softly, quietly sipping his tea, pretending not to hear.

Serena hesitated for a moment, but still sat down next to him.

The corners of Lucas’s mouth deepened into a smile as he wrapped his arm around Serena’s slender waist and whispered in her ear, "Didn’t you say you were going to sleep until evening today? Did you get enough rest?"

Serena’s cheeks turned slightly red; she had merely mentioned it casually last night, how could she actually sleep until evening?

Wouldn’t that completely mess up her day and night?

"Enough," Serena said, getting up from bed only after she couldn’t sleep anymore.

"Let’s sleep early tonight." The man’s warm fingertips gently massaged away the dark circles under her eyes.

The dark circles had lightened a lot, but compared to before, she still looked somewhat haggard.

Anyone would falter after several days and nights of relentless work.

Especially since Serena had been physically weak but had been pushing herself too hard.

Master Shaw silently watched the interaction between the two, growing more satisfied as he watched.

Once the poison in Serena’s body was dealt with, he expected it would soon be time to embrace his great-grandchild.

His two sons had always been a cause for concern, and his grandson was no different.

Now, he was pinning his hopes on a well-behaved great-grandson - he wanted to live a few more years.

He hoped for a gentle and sweet great-granddaughter; girls weren’t as mischievous as boys.

In the future, he would be able to proudly show her off wherever he went.

At this moment, a servant walked over, "Master Shaw, Young Master, Young Madam, lunch is ready."

Master Shaw leaned on his cane and rose from the sofa, heading towards the dining room, "Let’s go eat, I’m already hungry. If it weren’t for Professor Parker coming over, I would have had something prepared earlier."

"Professor Parker is here?" Lucas looked down, his gaze shifting towards Serena in confusion.

Serena nodded, "He came to ask about your health."

"Did you tell him?" Lucas frowned.

"I only mentioned what I could say, don’t worry. I’m not foolish. I know very well what should be said and what shouldn’t," Serena huffed proudly, taking her seat at the dining table.

Lucas nodded appreciatively, "Hmm, our Serena is very smart."

He praised her solemnly, his deep eyes filled with a layer of laughter, appearing very sincere.

It was just an ordinary sentence, but suddenly Serena felt her cheeks burning.

After finishing lunch, Serena put down her utensils and said gravely, "I have something to tell you."

Seeing her serious demeanor, both Master Shaw and Lucas also put down their utensils.

"Serena, what is it?" Master Shaw asked.

"Grandpa, don’t be nervous, I just want to let you know that I might need to do an experiment soon and won’t have time to come back, so I plan to stay in the lab. I wanted to tell you in advance so you wouldn’t worry," Serena explained softly.
