Forced to Marry the Sickly Billionaire
Chapter 135: How Can You Be So Cute

Chapter 135: Chapter 135: How Can You Be So Cute

"I heard it was you who cured Lucas’s illness?" Fiona Ryan asked curiously.

"It’s not cured yet." Serena Summers scratched her head embarrassedly, a hint of shame suddenly flashing in her eyes.

Seeing this, Fiona couldn’t help feeling itchy hands.

She suddenly thought the young girl in front of her was just like the kitten she used to have, unbelievably soft.

Irresistibly touchable.

Fiona always followed her heart, and as soon as she thought it, she acted on it.

Serena’s gaze was downcast when suddenly a warm touch came to the top of her head.

She looked up in surprise to find Fiona’s cool eyes tinted with a touch of gentleness.

"It’s okay, take your time, don’t put pressure on yourself. Lucas’s illness has been dragging on for over twenty years, a few more days won’t make a difference," Fiona spoke soothingly in a low voice.

A warm current slowly swept through Serena’s heart, and she nodded vigorously, "Thank you, Sister Fiona."

Fiona raised an eyebrow.

She had thought Serena would call her cousin like Lucas Shaw did.

But Sister Fiona sounded quite nice too.

Most importantly, Serena was sweet-talking, and anything she said sounded pleasant.

Thinking this, Fiona’s fondness for Serena increased a few notches.

"Do you really like desserts?"

Fiona looked at the pastry in Serena’s hand.

She had been watching Serena for a long time, ever since she arrived at the dessert section, her plate never left her hands.

It was unexpected that someone as cold and ascetic as Lucas Shaw would like such a cute girl.

You can’t judge a book by its cover.

However, Serena’s lively and tender nature was a complement to Lucas Shaw’s icy and forbidding demeanor, a true high-mountain flower.

It had to be said, Lucas Shaw had good taste.

Serena bit her lip shyly and slowly nodded, "Yes! Desserts make people happy! It’s a pity my husband doesn’t like them."

Serena sighed regretfully.

She could never have imagined that there would be people in this world who didn’t like desserts.

Fiona quietly watched Serena.

Her eyes were as clear and distinct as spring water in the mountains, allowing one to see straight through.

Fiona could see the simple thoughts in her heart at a glance and couldn’t help but feel amused.

She wondered why her aunt had such a strong aversion to her.

"Lucas hasn’t liked sweets since he was a child. It’s not really a dislike, just some unpleasant memories," Fiona said quietly.

"What memories? Are they related to Elena Ryan?" Serena asked, puzzled.

Realizing she had misspoken, Fiona quickly shook her head, "Those things are in the past. That Lucas has a well-behaved and sensible wife like you is his good fortune."

Serena blushed slightly and blinked shyly, "I think so too."

Fiona didn’t expect Serena to be so unabashed, and was momentarily stunned before chuckling softly.

"Little girl, what did you grow up eating? You’re so adorable," Fiona couldn’t resist and pinched Serena’s tender cheek again.

The skin under her palm was pale and delicate, unbelievably soft.

Fiona was somewhat reluctant to let go.

The pinch made Serena’s little face turn red, and her clear, distinct eyes shimmered with moisture, melting one’s heart.

What to do?

I really want to take her home.

She’s too adorable.

Where in the world did Lucas find such a little treasure?

At that moment, a delicate voice came from behind.

"Cousin, it’s really you!" The tone was indescribably joyful.

Suddenly interrupted, Fiona frowned displeasedly and swept a cold gaze from her narrowed phoenix eyes.

Serena Summers glanced to the side and noticed Sylvia Lane elegantly walking over.

She wore a sky-blue evening gown, its strapless design highlighting her fair, tender skin and alluring curves to perfection, her thick, black hair cascading over her shoulders.

Bewitching and enchanting, it was hard to look away.

However, Serena and Fiona Ryan were used to seeing countless beauties, so they casually withdrew their gaze, quite uninterested.

The film and television company under Horizon Group was the biggest entertainment company in Corland.

Each year, they cultivated numerous top celebrities and award-winning actors and actresses – a plethora of handsome men and gorgeous women, whom Serena had seen almost every one of.

Compared to them, Sylvia Lane’s looks were only above average at best.

"Xu..." Fiona frowned, suddenly unable to recall the name of the person before her.

"Sylvia Lane," Serena whispered, offering a reminder.

Fiona immediately realized, "Oh, it’s you. What do you want?"

She had never had a good impression of Sylvia and didn’t bother hiding her disdain.

Ever since the incident three years ago, Fiona’s opinion of Sylvia had plummeted.

The Shaw Family provided for her, raised her, and she turned ingrate, even attempting to climb into Lucas’s bed.

Sylvia’s smiling mouth stiffened slightly, her expression turning ugly.

"Cousin, you do joke. When did you return to the country? Why didn’t you let me know?" Sylvia laughed lightly.

"Do I know you well enough to inform you? When did you return? Didn’t Lucas tell you not to come back ever?" Fiona bluntly retorted, without courtesy.

Sylvia had a bellyful of words, but they were stuck in her throat, unable to come out.

Guests attending the banquet were all around, and upon hearing the commotion, many turned their eyes towards them.

Their gazes landed on her, filled with curiosity and scrutiny.

Her face colored slightly as she gritted her teeth in secret, a growing resentment brewing within her.

This Fiona Ryan was just as unpleasant as before, not giving her an ounce of face.

When she successfully marries Lucas Shaw, she certainly wouldn’t let Fiona off easily!

For now, though, Sylvia had to bow her head.

Fiona was the family’s precious jewel, and Sylvia, as an orphan, couldn’t afford to offend her.

"Don’t joke, cousin. Brother Lucas was just angry at the time. How could he seriously forbid me from returning? And I’ve realized my mistakes from three years ago."

"That’s good. Lucas is married now. I don’t want a repeat of what happened three years ago. If I find out you’re harboring inappropriate thoughts, I won’t let you off easily," Fiona warned Sylvia in a low voice, leaning close to her ear.

Sylvia’s face changed drastically, and she stumbled back two steps.

She forced a thin smile, "Thank you for the reminder, cousin. I’ll remember that."

With that, she left without looking back.

Yet, from her retreating figure and disheveled steps, she seemed more like she was fleeing in panic.

Serena snorted coldly, withdrawing her gaze.

Sylvia’s purpose for returning to the country was all too clear to her.

But Lucas Shaw, Serena’s man, was not someone anyone could just snatch away.

Sylvia had better dismiss such thoughts early, or Serena certainly wouldn’t let her off lightly.

"Serena, Sylvia Lane won’t stir up any trouble. Don’t take her to heart and let it affect your relationship with Lucas," Fiona voiced her concerns.

Serena laughed lightly, patting her chest in assurance, "Don’t worry, cousin. I trust my husband."

"Mhm." Fiona couldn’t help it and gently rubbed Serena’s fluffy head.

It felt as good as she imagined.

After finishing discussing business matters with a few guests, Lucas Shaw immediately headed towards the dessert area.

From afar, he saw Fiona fondling his delicate wife – touching and stroking.

His petite wife stood there, cheeks flushed, her moist eyes shining with a slick luster, looking alluring and irresistible.

So well-behaved and soft, letting Fiona play with her as she pleased.

Lucas Shaw: "..."

He had only been gone for a moment; how did these two get together?

Moreover, it seemed like they were getting along quite well.
